DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH HOTWIRE!! I made the mistake of booking two airline tickets through Hotwire. About 2 weeks after confirming my reservations and charging my credit card (immediately upon booking), I received a call from Hotwire telling me that one leg of my confirmed booking had been cancelled. After repeated calls to Hotwire (talking to a different person each time who explained the same thing over and over), I was given the option of either accepting an unreasonable flight change or getting a refund, I chose the refund. Little did I know what I was in for. According to Hotwire, the refund will take up to TWO MONTHS to be credited to my credit card. They claim that the airline is responsible for the credit. Yet, when I talked to the airline, they said that Hotwire has the ability to issue the refund immediately. Needless to say, I haven't received my refund yet. Hotwire's customer service is a joke and their policies are very UNCUSTOMER FRIENDLY. Unless you want to lose your money, go elsewhere.

I have booked several vacations through Hotwire and was satisfied. Today when I booked reservations they were cancelled and they wanted to charge me $150.00 per tickets to get my reservations back. Needless to say, they won and I lost my reservations and $639.45 to go with it. They will not be seeing me again for any kind of reservation.

I, like many others here, would rate them a zero if possible. After booking me in the wrong month (!!! ), they said they would "help" me out one time by refunding my money....but only if I bought a more expensive ticket from them. YAY! They then decided to charge me an extra $3000, and proceeded to tell me they never charged me anything, and I have no flight! I love this site, $4000 for a homicidal Rage. It’s a deal!P.S. Check Your Bill AND With your bank for what they actually Bill you! They add on several dollars for "authorization purposes-just to make sure you have money” actual quote(!!!), and then they ROUND up the final price of the flight!(because who is going to miss a few penny’s?) ILLEGAL!!!!!!

The worse experience I have ever had in my life! Don't even think about it! I made a reservation based on the area information I got from their web site. Only after the final step I found out that the hotel is far beyond the distance that was provided to me during the resrvation process. I assumed that after explaining to Hotwire the problem they would take responsibility and cancel the reservation or at least transfer me to another hotel that is within that area - well I was so wrong! It was like talking to walls. They had a lot of strange explanations but the main and only theme was that they "can't to anything".My advise - Don't even think about using Hotwire, You can never know what you are going to get, and when there is a problem you are being treated like ....

If I could give less than one star I would. I took a friend's recommendation to use Hotwire - my husband and I were looking for a last-minute deal for a hotel in Vegas. I booked the hotel, but about two hours later my husband had to go to the emergency room. I called the airline (I'd booked the ticket through the airline directly) and got a refund - no problem - no questions asked. I called Hotwire who told me I could get a refund only if I got a note from the doctor. I was only concerned about my husband at the time and assumed I could just send the paperwork from the emergency room in. I assumed wrong. They said I needed a note - no exceptions. I wrote a letter, sent the paperwork - nothing. No note. No refund. They also reminded me that I could have purchased insurance if I wanted to avoid that in the future. I honestly don't even remember seeing anything that said we couldn't get a refund. That's not just a horrible consumer experience. It's just cold-blooded.

I have booked a trip to Vegas and had to cancel. The trip cost was $177. I called Hotwire and they told me that the ticket is non-refundable. That is o.k and I completely understand, but when I asked them if I can use the credit for a future trip they said: "Yes, you can! You need to pay $150 upfront and we'll give you the $177 credit!" That is the most RIDICULOUS thing I have ever heard! I've traveled overseas so many times and I've NEVER EVER ran into something like this! Horrible experience...I won't even access them from now on and if I have to pay more somewhere else, at least I'll know the service is worth it! I will gladly throw a couple of hundred extra somewhere else than use Hotwire.

I used Hotwire last week to get a good deal on a hotel in Fargo, ND last week and got hosed. They said we would get a 2 1/2 star hotel, ex. Holiday Inn, Ramada. We got a cheap $35.00 a night hotel, not going to mention the hotel because its not their fault Hotwire riped me off. They say you are getting a great hotel but when you pay you get hosed. I wish I would have checked out this Website before I tried Hotwire!

This was my first experience with Hotwire and will certainly be my last. I booked a 2.5 star hotel which Hotwire claims includes hotels such as Hilton Express, AmeriSuites, etc. I paid $48 and then found out that the hotel I booked was La Quinta which on their own website is only $55 a room for the location I am visiting. Yes that's right Hotwire.com saved me an astonishing $7!It gets better though because on Hotwire's own website they list La Quinta as a 2 star hotel. As you recall I selected and paid for a 2.5 star hotel. So in conclusion I did not receive the type of hotel I paid for and only saved $7 using Hotwire. I contacted them assuming it was an innocent mistake or technical error only to receive the brush off and was told that someone would look over my situation in 7-10 days. My night in the hotel is in one day so they were not even remotely helpful.I will never use this service again. It is simply not worth it and the customer service is absolutely horrific.

This is the worst online place to book hotel. They kind of cheat you by not telling you the name of the hotel before you make your order. The hotel that I booked doesn't rank the same stars in hotwire as in other website. There is No cancellation once you paid. You won't get any refund if you found their price is higher than other websites, which is what they claimed in their price guarantee. I won't recommend it to anyone. Stay away from them.

STAY AWAY from Hotwire. Site cannot be trusted and service is non-existent. Booked a double room in what was supposed to be a 4-star hotel in New York City. What we got was a single room with one bed in a 3-Star hotel. Hotel would not change the room unless we paid more money. Said that the room we got was what Hotwire negotiated. I will never use the site again. Using hotwire is like buying a 'pig in a poke' which means you are buying an object offered in a manner that conceals its true value, especially its lack of value. Hotwire should have apologized to me and given me a partial refund for misrepresenting the level of hotel and sticking two people who are not partners into a single room with one bed. When I got back and researched the hotel, Trip Advisor has it rated as 3-stars, so it is not just my personal opinion that it was wrongly rated. I filled in a form from Howire to document my dissatisfaction, it is a week, and no one has followed up on my complaint. My advice again, is to stay away from this site. Why support bad service and basically bad products. I also found out I could have negotiated a better rate by dealing directly with the hotel.

I HATE hotwire! I used them one time and refuse to ever use them again, no matter how much money I save.I booked a flight for my husband online through Hotwire. I (or they) had entered my name as the one flying rather than my husband's so I immediately changed it. The night before his flight, we discovered that it was never changed. I thought it was no big deal, just call them up and explain the mistake and get the names changed. Well, first of all, that pretty much takes an act of Congress to get through to a live person. Then, according to strict regulations (FCC, I think), they cannot/would not change the name on my ticket. They suggested I call the airline. I did, but they said that they couldn't do a refund of course since I booked through Hotwire. The airline told me to call Hotwire. So back and forth I went. I went all the way to the top with Hotwire, talking to the top person that they would allow me to talk to. Each time I spoke to the most apathetic person! They just repeated what the person before said. It was like each time they pushed a button and said the same automated sentence, "it's against our policy to give refunds, or we do not give refunds". All I wanted was a refund so I could REPURCHSE through them, since I could not get the name changed. They would not be LOSING any money. In the end, I phoned the airline once again, and they offered me a voucher, so that I could use that ticket with my name on it another time. I then had to purchase another ticket for my husband - this time with the airline, NOT Hotwire. The airline was just as unsympathetic. Good customer service would go a long way here, folks! It's a good thing we had extra money that month to buy another airline ticket. If not, my husband would not have been able to visit his mother.Hotwire cost me more in the end. My advice, if you're flying, book with the airline. Avoid Hotwire at all cost. If you make a mistake, it's too bad.sheesh! I couldn't even post this without rating it at least one star! They don't even deserve that one!

I have used hotwire twice to book my flights and I never had any problems. Every time I had to call customer service I had no problems at all. I just booked my flight to Brazil and it was fast, reliable, good pricing. I dont know about other people. But I ALWAYS read the contract before paying. Maybe I am lucky, I dont know. But for me HOTWIRE still is one of the top travel sites. :)

We booked a hotel in Atlantic City through Hotwire, they put us in the Chelsea Hotel. Our first night we had no air conditioning, in the middle of August, the hotel would not compensate us because we booked through Hotwire. When we contacted Hotwire they said they were sorry, nothing else. We paid $337 for the room that night at a 4 star hotel, I would have expected a little more from Hotwire. Purchaser beware!!!!3 stars

We rented a car from Hertz through Hotwire because it "looked" like a good deal. Hotwire charged our credit card. After we got the car from Hertz, Hertz's receipt does not reflect Hotwire contract so we ended up having to pay for the same car rental twice. It's like we had no reservation or contract with Hotwire. The difference is that we bought rental insurance through Hertz and returned the car a day early. We didn't ask for money back because we returened the car a day early, but Hotwire is saying we breached the contract with them, so yes, we paid Hotwire, and now, that contract is no longer valid, so we had to pay Hertz as well. Hotwire is unable to resolve or look into the issue with Hertz (who they should have a relationship with), you would have to call around your self. If you are looking at trying to save some money by renting a car through Hotwire, don't do it. You'll end up spending a lot more money and wasting a lot of time on the phone with them. This is my first and last time I'll get anything from Hotwire. I've had experiences with other travel agencies and this is my first horible experience. I would not recommend Hotwire to anyone. If there's a 0 star rating, I would choose that.

I am sorry I haven't checked reviews before using hotwire. We booked a round-trip flight, and later on needed to change a date for outbound flight. It took hotwire SEVERAL DAYS! Their customer service cannot do the change, so you have to wait until someone from "exchange department" calls you. After they finally did (4 days after my call), I was given several options and needed to talk to my husband since he's the one who will be flying. I was told I cannot call them back; I would need to talk to customer service and apply for exchange again, and wait for a rep to call me back again. I did. This time I got tired of waiting (5 days passed) and called myself, after speaking to the supervisor the rep from exchange dept called back and quoted an exchange price of $400. That's right, price to change the outbound flight to another date was $400 - twice the price I was originally quoted, and about the price of a new roundtrip ticket. Another option I was given is to cancel and get a credit minus $150 "exchange fee"), but only my husband can use it and needs to do so within a year from original purchase date. Which is impossible - he is in the Army and going to Iraq for a year. The rep, and later the supervisor said that rules are rules and of course there is nothing they can do...That was my first and my last time using hotwire. Even if the price at other websites would be higher, at least I would be able to change my flights myself without the hassle of waiting for a rep for several days. I wonder, if it takes that much time, how many reps they actually have? Awful, awful, awful company :(

I just went on a cruse and the only problem I had was with Hotwire. When we book the cruse we picked one that had a good amount of on-board spending money. When we arrived and checked in at the ship we asked about the money and it was not in our account. While on the cruse I tried contacting them by their 24hr number. After a number of failed attempts of trying to find an option that would allow me to talk to a real person I hung up. After we returned home I tried to e-mail Hotwire about the on-board spending money. I am still waiting for a response from that e-mail it's been over 6 business days now. So after waiting for over 3 days I called their 24hr number and this time I found an option that let me talk to a real person. After waiting for some time I was able to ask why we did not get our on-board spending money. She simply said we did not qualify for it.During the whole booking process and after I paid for the cruse I did not receive any information saying we did not qualify for the on-board spending money. Next time I book a cruse it will be with someone that I can call and talk to about any problems or questions I have.My favorite part was when I filled out their review of our experience. I filled out the review saying I enjoyed the cruse and stated my problems with Hotwire. It took one day for them to get back to me saying they would not post it. I am still waiting for a response to my e-mail about the on-board spending money.

I just booked my second hotel on Hotwire today, and that's only because I did get lucky the first time with them (first booking was for a 4-star hotel, and it turned out to actually be a 4-star hotel rating for ALL the travel websites). However, I haven't actually STAYED there yet because it's for an up- coming cruise...gotta admit, I'm wondering if they booked me in the janitor's closet at the 4-star hotel now....Anyway, since my first booking APPEARED to have gone well--I decided to try Hotwire again for a quick trip back to my hometown. Small town that it is, the best hotel category is 2 1/2-star choices. Now, knowing the town like I do, I'm thinking I pretty much know the few hotels that fit into this top choice 2 1/2-star rating and was okay with any of them. However, Hotwire put me in an old, crumby place they claimed was a 2 1/2-star hotel, but seriously this hotel is a 2-star at best (and that's if the person reviewing is drunk or something....). For some strange reason Travelocity rates this hotel high, but all the other sites rate it lower??? Had the same BAD EXPERIENCE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE others had when I called back and told them I KNOW THIS HOTEL AND IT'S NOT WHAT YOU REPRESENTED! Long story short, I called the hotel myself, explained the situation, and they kindly offered to cancel the reservation, stating "there's no reason Hotwire can't refund the charge now". I'll admit I was surprised by the La Quinta's offer to cancel the reservation! Score one for La Quinta's every where. I called American Express (the card I used) and was told I needed to wait until the charge is actually posted to my account to dispute it, which I AM SO DOING! I plan to use this website as ammunition for "misrepresentation" on Hotwire's part.REASON FOR MY HOTWIRE 2-STAR RATING: I'm hoping reservation #1 actually turns out to be as good as it looks (got the 4-star that retails for $309 for under $100), so being optimistic I'm giving them a 4 for the first booking and a negative 2 for the second booking. We'll see how booking #1 actually turns out..... Just a footnote: If you ever travel to Oshkosh, WI - I wouldn't recommend the La Quinta. Try the Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort Suites, or Holiday Inn Express. The Hilton Garden Inn is probably your best choice there. That's where I'm gonna stay on this trip.SO WISH I WOULD HAVE GOOGLED HOTWIRE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING WITH HOTWIRE!!!

I used hotwire for the first time against the warnings against it but i had no problems. Maybe it was beginners luck. I got a great hotel in Milwaukee AND i knew which one it was going to be.With little diligence and help from other discount sites, I was able to narrow the hotels down to 1 or 2 based on price and location. Now i dont trust hotwire for an airline ticket because i usually have strict days and times when i have to fly. And i fly with kids.(god help me)I agree, the fine print does tell you what to expect. For instance, hotwire say it will accomodate you with the appropriate size bed forthe number of people in the room. And with a little homework i found out that some of those rooms only have 1 double inthe room for 2 people! So if you increase the number of people your room your guaranteed at least 2 doubles. And sure enough when i did that(it doesnt cost you anymore for more people, you paying for a room not per person) some of the hotel choices dropped. So for 45 minutes of homework i saved 70% on great hotel.

I wish i could put 0 stars!!! they have the worst customer service ever!!! we booked 2 rooms for 4 ppl, when we got there they gave us one room with one bedroom and one sofabed, which i swear was an inch thick!! i called hotwire and told them that i specified there wer going to be 4 ppl in the room and that we needed 2 beds, well lets just say they didnt care!! they said that they provided a room were you could acommodate 4 ppl and that was it!! the customer service sucks the manager dont care a thing is just plain awful!! I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND HOTLIAR TO ANYONE EVER!! youre better off finding a good deal on orbitz!we had a terrible night and i coudnt sleep at all for the entire 4 days because of back pains! worst vacations ever thanks to hotwire!

In my first experience with Hotwire I learned one thing - as far as hotels go you are going to get the absolute worst one available. We have stayed in 2star hotels in our kids' college town that are fine - with Hotwire we got put it one that was awful. Expect the worst.

I booked a hotel that was supposed to be at the Boston International Airport. It turned out, the hotel was located 19.9 miles away from the airport. Called the hotline, very unfrendly response of how I should have checked the district better, the guy tried to teach me geography and claimed the distance was less than 2.4 miles, google maps measured the distance at 19.9.

Hotwire was the biggest rip off that I have every experienced! I book the trip a week before I was to go. I bought cancelation insurance for this trip because my family had a lot going on. Hotwire refused to allow me to cancel the trip after I had bought the insurance. I spoke with managers and called to times. They were rude and would not budge. I will never use this company again.

MISREPRESENTATION!!! Hotwire sold us a room in Eau Claire Wisconsin rated 2.5 stars or the equivalent of a Holiday Inn Express. The Americas Best Value Inn is a MOTOR HOTEL! The charge from Hotwire: $81.00 incl. taxes. Should provide a room worth about 80-100 dollars, right? I have the receipt in hand which shows the walkin rate to me for my room as $48.75 or $55.00 with taxes. The response from Hotwire; annoyance. Won't be using Hotwire again. Suggest you not either. By the way. The hotel better not be Americas Best Value or heaven help the traveller. Tired motel with burns in the carpets and dodgey looking pillows.
parrogordo 07/23/2009
If there was an option of no stars I would select it for Hotwire. The parking charge for the hotel I booked was 20% additional, which put this booking higher than I could have found myself for a better hotel! And the hotel was outside the advertized district, the latest reviews on the hotel were that it was dirty and disgusting (I requested a 3 star hotel). Customer service is non-existent, the reps and managers are taught to repeat the same line over and over: it's in the fine print of your contract there is no cancellation blah blah. When asked what people do next, the manager said everyone eventually hangs up!

I've had great experiences with Hotwire. My suggestion to those complaining would be to ACTUALLY READ the terms of use before you agree to it. Most of the complaints on this page are addressed in the terms of use that you read and agree to BEFORE you book.

I too wished I had not been so gullable about Hotwire. It said in bold letters....DOWNTOWN /TOWN Lake what I got was University area. Travel books (frommers) and google map would not list where this property is located as a downtown location. They do this I feel to purposely mislead the consumers into a purchase. Once they get your money it's all over and they can do no more. At least in my instance, the hotel is nice, just not in the right area and they (the hotel I'm booked into ) told me they have no control over how hotwire chooses to advertise their facility....plus brand name, means brand name.....which is also in big bold letters on the site...but somewhere else it says other comparable properties are also used.Just another opportunity for Howire to mislead consumers. There are too many reputable businesses (which I thought Hotwire was) who can benefit from my few travel dollars and I won't be spending any of them ever again at hotwire.Do not use Hotwire to book your hotel stay. Maybe they are ok for other travel, but I won't take the time to ever use them again for anything.I will loose my money on this purchase and contact another organization to finalize a new room in my desired location to celebrate my 28th wedding anniversary.Sandra Cunningham

This is the e-mail that I sent to Hotwire after my horrible serviceTo whom it may concern,This e-mail is to notify Hotwire about the service that I received when I made a hotel purchase. I chose to use the website because my sister and co-worker stated that they had used it several times in the past and they were satisfied. I purchased a 4 night stay for 2 adults and 1 child and was surprised to learn after calling the hotel that I was booked for a room with one queen sized bed. The room was to be used for me, my husband and our 13 year old daughter. I do not understand how your company believes that a 13 year old can sleep in the bed with 2 adults. After calling the customer service number I spoke with Jan who provided me with a case number #2015779599 and who stated that Hotwire would pay for the difference of $15 dollars to upgrade the room to 2 beds, but that they could not make then changes until we arrived at the hotel. After driving 6 hours getting to the hotel at 11:30 pm, I called Hotwire and was on hold for 30 minutes. The hotel stated that they did not have authorization to upgrade the room and that they needed to talk to the company themselves. Finally I was able to speak to someone who informed me that I was going to be required to pay the difference and that Hotwire would give me a credit to my account of the difference plus $25 dollars. This is not the arrangement that was told to my by Jan and I do not think that it was right. When I searched for this particular hotel on line by myself the total I would have had to pay was $211.27. The deal that I thought that I was getting from Hotwire required me to pay $173.64. After the difference that I was required to pay plus the taxes my total was $211.26 a total savings of 1 penny. If I knew that I was going to save basically nothing, I would have made my own reservations and saved many hours on the phone talking to Hotwire and the hotel. I currently have the credit to my account $62.62, but you are welcome to take it back. I will never use your website again due to the horrible service and will surely not recommend it to anyone I know.

I was going to m y sister's wedding in Puerto Rico, and my husband book the wrong hotel so I call to ask them if they can change the hotel and they took all the info and the other hotel name to tell me that they can't do so,even the hotel I want it was more expensive ,hate Hotwire service,it was my first and last time doing business with them...

Hotwire Cheats people... Please don't use Hotwire service, they don't keep customer interest when they book. I was provided a hotel reservation in Chicago Ohare (ALoft) for $60 a night, but this hotel charges $26 for parking which no one else does in the vicinity. They show great hotel list and cheat people without showing the actual hotel name...Hotwire doesn't check any of this and doesn't take responsibility for this as they consider this as outside of the room service, they don't show names for hotel like Aloft in their list, this is simple cheating. They don't cancel the reservation, to get through their customer service minimum wait time for me was 50 minutesThis is simple extortion of the consumer in the name of best rates.

I was planning to spend a nice 4th of july weekend with the family at Niagara Falls. First time on the Hotwire website and I ASSURE YOU THIS WILL BE MY VERY LAST. I decided to pay a little extra to get a 3.5 star hotel instead of a 3 star, (hotels listed in this category were hilton, Ramada etc.) I am travelling with my husband and 2 children (on the website specified as ANYONE between the age of 2 and 17) ... So I confirm and instantly my credit card is charged. I am well aware that I cannot make any changes and this is binding, which is fine by me, because when I was booking for 4 people I was under the impression that I would at least have 2 BEDS!!!?! The confirmation page didn't say anything except the hotels name (no links to hotel website or pictures of the place) So to get any further information about the stay I called the hotel (which is a hotel I have never heard of). So I call to see if they have any refrigerators in the room, and ask about the accomodations, and was told they had my reservation for a room with 1 king size bed.., I immediately call up Hotwire and ask them how they can expect 4 people sleeping in one bed (Can you imagine your 17 year old son and 12 year old daughter sleeping in bed with you?) So Hotwire "went out of their way" (quote!!!) To get me a sleeper sofa in the room... If I wanted to sleep on a couch I would have stayed with in-laws!!!There wasn't anything else they could do to help me, but if I had any issues WHILE I was there I should call them???!?! You can't help me now, what do I expect them to do for me when I am already there? Please, think twice about booking with these guys. Oh, did I mention breakfast wasn't included either... sigh!

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!! (First Time Want to be User!!!! Don't Get Suckered) This is a very important message from a first time user of Hotwire.com I was a first time user and needless to say I am a last time user. On a daily bases, I make travel arrangements for an Advisory Board of 250 doctors and their families everyday. When my father had pulled up the site to book a hotel room I thought nothing of it, there was the photo of the hotel (The La Quinta) I was getting, the name of the hotel list with, the price, night stay, the address, phone number, ect.; so I took it. Had I know that I was playing Russian roulette, I would have never played. As soon as I signed-up and clicked the credit card button "WOW" a total different hotel, and a off brand at that. I called right then and was told sorry can't help you no refund, no changes. What a CON! I wanted a hotel that was known and one that we could get a complementary breakfast at which is what the site said I was getting. We called this off brand and was told it would cost 20 dollars to check in early okay fine and was also told that there is no breakfast. I called Hotlier back and they said the same thing sorry can't help you. Take it from someone who never lets her people down when it comes to making their arrangements, don't use Hotwire.

Hotwire used to be great. I have used it many times and gotten some good deals in the past. It has changed! I got a La Quinta Inn for the same price I could have gotten a Holiday Inn or nicer hotel. This the last time I will use Hotwire. It used to be my favorite site.

Worst experience! Booked flight in April 2009 through Hotwire on United Airlines to St. Marten from Knoxville, TN. United canceled return flight from Dulles to Knoxville 30 days before trip. United does not offer any rights for travelers who book through Hotwire! Instead of rebooking through another airport for no additional fees, as they would have for a direct customer, they offered $100 fee per ticket change fee plus higher ticket cost as if it was our decision to change our itinerary. Hotwire's only offer was to start over and pay $800 more for the same trip, or cancel. When I tried to cancel, after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, the first Hotwire representative hung up on me. The second rep too care of us, but even though I bought trip insurance directly from their website, I have to call the insurance company myself to get a refund. Never ever will I use Hotwire for anything!

When you advertise value and low prices saving me 4 dollars on a 4 Star Hotel does not seem very significant. The taxes on the room were $33 dollars the least they could do is offer a deal that would save me that. Anyway I'm not going to use them anymore I'd rather pick my own hotel and spend the extra 4 dollars than get put somewhere random. No doubt the hotel is nice but the value from using the website just was NOT WORTH IT. Hotwire is a crapshoot you never know if you are going to get a good deal or a random hotel.

I've had great experiences with Hotwire on the 2 occasions I've used the service. One deal was for a car rental last summer where it cost only $13.95/day. Recently I traveled from Ottawa, ON to Chicago, Il and booked a return flight with 3 nights accommodation at one of the nicest hotels in the downtown Loop area of the city. Scored a major deal! No complaints here I'll use it again. Just don't change your travel plans once you book.

Your Problem Is YOU Chose Hotwire. Got fucked by hotwire? Good! It's YOUR fault! YOU didn't read up on these fuckers before your trip. They falsely advertise. The don't back you up when there is an agreed upon price, and they are pissing in the wind getting it all over you. Get on the damn phone and negotiate yourself. Nothing good to say about hotwire but a pretty website

I booked a hotel based on the information regarding the type of hotel I would be getting(Holiday Inn, Raddison or Doubletree) for 2 people - King size bed, What I got was a Timeshare Condo with a Queen bed. You go too Sedona for the wonderfulviews. We got a room with out a window. It had a sliding glass door. You looked up intothe parking lot. Their brochure advertised full kitchen. Our room didn't have a cook top. After spending the first night there, we decided to pack it up and go home forfeiting our moneybecause of the fine print that we don't see until you've booked the room. I am very unhappy with HOTWIRE and will never do business with them again. This is not thefirst time I've lost money with them, but it will be the last.I took pictures of our accommendations just in case HOTWIRE wants to challenge me.If anyone wants to see them I'll be glad to email them to you.shirleybrockway@hotmail.com

Hotwire provide TOTALLY misleading information regarding PETS.There is nowhere to find anything about pets.So when you're booking a hotel you have no idea what hotel you're going to get, a pet friendly or anti-pet.I booked hoping to have a pet friendly hotel, and got DAYS-INN, which is ANTI-PET.Spend 1 hour on HOTWIRE trying to cancel the reservation. NO cancelation!Hotewire is the worst out of all online places.DO NOT BOOK with them.

I requested a hotel in Little Rock Downtown Riverfront...what they sold me was a piece of crap hotel in NORTH LITTLE ROCK. Then when I called customer service they were USELESS. They are nothing but fraud. The representative and supervisor were completly useless. I suggest using Priceline for all your needs.

Completely misrepresented a hotel. Sold me a "three star" hotel but this place is a dump - barely a one star hotel. Just because it has a name brand doesn't mean it's automatically "nice". This hotel is a bar hotel full of drunks. They rent rooms by the month. It's loud and dirty. They also list it was being "downtown" when it's no where near downtown - up the hill from St. Paul in the giant parking lot of an old Sears. Yuk. I've used Hotwire for car rentals and it's been good. But I will no longer trust their ratings on hotels.

Wish I had read the reviews on this sight before being screwed by GYPwire. As a smoker,I was a bit surprised to see that the hotel I booked was non smoking. Customer servicewould only say, (over and over), that there was no way that they could know if a hotel was non-smoking. They could tell me all the other amenities of the hotel but not smokingstatus. Never again...

Not such a bad experience here.....My husband and I booked a car reservation and it turned out that we no longer needed it. So we called customer service and asked to be refunded, due to the fact that we never actually ended up renting the car. They stuck to their policy, which is expected, saying that one the reservation is booked, they cannot grant any refunds. Well, with a little explaining and patience, we were able to get our refund in full. I highly recommend Hotwire, due to the fact that they actually listen to you ,and are totally willing to work with you.

Sorry to hear so many have had bad experiences with hotwire. I did not. Actually, just the opposite! My husband had an interview in Greenville SC and I used hotwire to book our 3 night stay. Selected our dates and a 3-4 star rating accomodation. Inquired in the surrounding Greenville area of what hotels would fit their description. We couldn't go wrong. Took the leap and ended up paying $66/night for downtown Hyatt Regency. Posh stay! Yes we had to pay for parking, but we were aware of that from researching Hotwire's customer care section. Parking consisted of $3/day unlimited acess and was billed directly to the room. Hyatt rooms are WAY more than $66/night. Check it out for yourself. During check out, we were charged exactly what was stated. My opinion is if you have the forsight and time - then research and take the leap. I would and have used hotwire before...not only for hotel reservations but business rental car service also. Saving my company over 1/2 the expense. Why not a 5 star listing then? That's the chance you take. Good luck.

Do not use Hotwire. I booked a hotel & on the day of arrival I called to confirm the room. They said they did not have the reservation., so we stayed a different hotel. Hotwire would not refund the money & said we were no-shows. Beware they are crooks!!!
