Anyone who rates Ezzard Charles one star knows little about boxing or boxing history. Charles is very highly thought of by boxing historians of the past and current media stars like Max Kellerman. If I'm not mistaken Charles beat the great Archie Moore three times, although he never held the light heavyweight crown. Charles could box, punch and counter punch. He's one of the all time greats and was a gentleman in and out of the ring. One star indeed!

Five stars. Ezz charles was a monster. His resume speaks for itself. Arguably the best light heavyweight ever.

Sadly overlooked in the past because of established contemporaries (Archie Moore, Rocky Marciano, Jersey Joe Walcott, and Joe Louis), boxing historians have given the 'Cincinnati Cobra' a second look and have concluded he was one of the finest ever light-heavyweights. Certainly, he was a good heavyweight who gave even the fighters mentioned a run for their money.

he was a very good all around fighter. granite chin, impressive power, plenty of stamina, heart of a champ, surplus of skills, and gave the conteders of his day a hell of a fight.

Ezzard was great and would be a cruiser by todays standard. I had to give him a two for G.P., he was listed as the best ever with only one rating of five. He beat Archie Moore (Moses' younger brother) at the age of 6052 to claim the belt after Marciano's retirement, and unmatched record of 0 losses the best for any champion in ALL of boxing.

Ezzard Charles is generally remembered as a heavyweight(champion) who beat an old Joe Louis and lost to Rocky Marciano and Jersey Joe Walcott. He may have been the best light heavyweight ever, even though he never fought for the title.
