In the '72 Olympics, Gable not only won the gold medal, but he shut out all of his opponents. Freestyle wrestling had been dominated by eastern Europeons the way the Russian amateur team ruled hockey and Gable's performance was of the same caliber as the 1980 US hockey victory over the Russian team.
