My husband was recently laid off and we have three large dogs: A German Shepherd, a Border Collie/Aussie mix, and an Akita/Chocolate Lab mix. Due to pocketbook strain, we've had to take our dogs off of the super, super premium brands (most recently, Solid Gold's Lamb and also Milenium)and switch to Diamond's Lamb Formula. Truthfully. . .they look great. Their stool looks better than ever -- consistantly! They also seem to like it better than the Solid Gold. I was actually very surprised. My Akita/Choc Lab has always been very sensitive, very itchy, and I have run the gamut with her. (One of the worst for her, amazingly, was Flint River! She got super itchy, greasy and dull coated on that stuff. I couldn't believe it because the ingredients were awesome. . .it looked like great stuff).Anyway, she's doing super great on the Diamond Lamb. I guess every dog is different and to each his own. I saw the Diamond Dog Food in the past at the feed store and would have never considered it when we had more money. But now, I would reccommend the Lamb Formula. (I'm not as sure about their other flavors). One final note. . .the Diamond Lamb also always smells good & fresh. So many times, I'm sorry to say, our Solid Gold would smell rancid.

Between gas prices, groceries and a $10,000 loss of income, I was desperate to keep our pack of five dogs (all rescued from on thing or another), and seven cats (see other parenthetical comment) on decent food and still meet the needs of a large family. The long and the short of it, I ran across Diamond foods while doing an internet search, read the ingredients and decided that while it wasn't a perfect solution (only human grade food is perfect and that isn't an option), it wasn't bad either. I tried it and they all look great on it. I had a friend whose income took a similar hit (too many factories going over seas . . .) and had switched her crew to Pedigree. Her Border Collie's hair was falling out, leaving bald patches! I suggested she try Diamond and within a week, the hair had stopped falling out and within a month, most of it had returned. Good product for a price I can afford.

Not the best food on the market, but not the worst either. The quality varies between the different formulas. Puppy and Large Breed Puppy didn't work for me at all, but the Lamb & Rice adult food is alright. No diarrhea here, no smelly farts. But then again, just like humans, not all dogs tolerate all foods.

This is junk food and it shows in your dog! An all natural or human grade food is better!

We got a miniature dachshund puppy (our first dog) 2 months ago and we've been feeding her Diamond Puppy Food. We chose it on the recommendation of a local breeder. So far the results have been good. Our puppy is very healthy and her black coat has a nice sheen. She has not had any trouble with diarrhea or runny stool. We are new pet owners, so we are certainly no experts about dog food. However, I can say our experience with Diamond Puppy Food has been good and I would recommend it to other people.

Diamond puppy sucked. Gave my dogs runny stool. I switched to the new large breed adult food and also supplement with salmon a few times a week and everything is GREAT. His poo is small and infrequent (suggesting his body is soaking up the nutrients).

I have 2 labs and they love the Lamb and rice formula. Their stools are smaller and firmer, their coats look great. The price is nice as well.

Ok for a cheap food - I advise clients to feed either this or PRISM Dog food when money is tight.

I bought a female Inu Akita 3 weeks ago from a registered breeder she was malnourished and sickly. She wouldn't eat we took her to our vet he said she has to eat or she would die. My heart was broken not only because this was my baby but she was my dream dog. I went looking for the best food and in my search I stumble across diamond puppy food. To make a long story short at 14 weeks now she weighs almost 25 pds and is healthy as a horse. The only problem is she pisses everywhere from the water consumption. So i recommend this food and a good mop bucket.

I switched to Diamond after a well-known breeder recommended it. I have gone thru one 20lb bag of the puppy formula for my little dog that just had puppies and a little male that's 9 months old. They eliminate the same or less than with the Science Diet I have always given them. Their coats look great, and they love it! It costs half the price of what I had been paying.

Comment from Florida: One of my dogs had lost all her fur (at age 13)and was scratching/itching constantly. I changed to Diamond Adult Premium at the advice of a friend, and she stopped itching that night. No one recognizes her - all her fur came back very quickly and it glows. I now have her on Low Fat Diamond, and she is doing well, especially with the added Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I have 6 dogs and puppies (Australian Shepherds and a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix) all on different Diamond Pet Foods products. I find less shedding and very, very shiney coats. I have been very pleased.

Great Food! I am especially impressed with the ingredients! I have Goldens and I started a litter of puppies on this food and they look great and LOVE the taste! I am thinking of switching my adults to the adult formula! I do not mind that it does not contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin because I use a supplement for that.

Come on. This food isn't even the best food this company makes. If you want to have a look at Premium Edge or Chicken Soup then you have a high quality ingredient list and less filler. This food though is no better than Iams except the cost is quite nice admitedly.

Costco members take note: the Kirkland Signature (Costco) brand is MADE by Diamond Pet Foods, and is VERY affordable, at least in Texas--$14 for a 40 pound bag. Again, I think this is certainly a Super Premium brand for a very reasonable price. I only wish they offered more varieties (ie, large breed puppy formula) at Costco!

I switched to Diamond Premium six months ago after using a top name brand food for 15 years. I was having trouble keep weight on 2 of my GSPs. After the transitioin feeding and 3 months on Diamond Premium they have never looked better. I was also having a problem of dogs throwing up shortly after eating. This problem went away also. I run in national hunting dog tests and need the best food possible. Diamond Premium has proven itself in my kennel.
