Dude abandoned ship on his castaway-mates. That must have endeared him to them. Dude must have been having childhood flashbacks of the sandlot game where all the little dudes were screaming, I don't want Jon-Jon, you take him. No way, you take him.

Did anyone else notice that he and Stephanie were still a mile off shore when the boat landed? That was the move that I really think killed his chances.
