I am not a spec ops person and was completely enthralled with the quick action very believable teamwork. Some unrealistic scenarios (i.e. Gulfstream jumping, inability of the terrorists to push a button given the inordinate amount of time, etc.) but very acceptable fare for the typical couch-potatoe. Would have given it a 5 star except someone (Hollywoodians) had to slip the proverbial smut in at the end. When are you guys EVER going to grow up and figure out how to not screw up a new series????

Unrealistic story line (like the FBI would let those guys get involved). You need them in out of country assignments. There are a number of real and very good domestic "units" who do this thing every day. Even in Idaho. Poor acting, or was it the script? Characters way too old. Infidelity? Not likely, especially by the C.O. Not the way to assault a plane. He would be very dead. Jump from 35,000 ft. From that plane. Sure. See three bad guys even from that little plane concealed in the trees. Yeh, right. Slightly raise her voice when the wife tells her sister about her husband's assignment? If it was that serious she would have screamed and slapped her down.

I loved the show. I think they can do without the blonde and the Colonel! It cheapens the show. I am watching it for the adventure and escapes - don't trash it so early!!!

Pretty decent action in this pilot! I agree with a number of reviews on the "over-the-top" dialogue in some areas, usually by Haysbert. It definitely shows promise and will bring me back for another look. Finally 24 has company in the compelling TV category.
ButchKC 03/08/2006
Why did you destroy all the "good" images you had portrayed with the last scenes? Our men and women of the armed services take enough flak without you adding fuel to the fire. I had hoped this would be my "after NCIS" TV viewing but unless the storyline changes...NO WAY
TCPilot 03/08/2006
G-IV? I'm pretty sure that was a G-II in the pilot episode. Guess Delta can't afford a flight in a new Gulfstream product. If you depressurize the cabin, you can probably open the door, but a G-II still isn't an ideal jump airplane. The show was a goofy combination of very bad (by some) and acceptable (by others) weapon handling. Better than most shows, though.

This was the beginning of a great show, but why screw it up in the last five minutes with the blond and the col. The Unit had me hooked there and had a five rating, but now looks like i'll find something else to do after NCIS.
jshidele 03/07/2006
The Unit is exciting, and shows both sides of spec-ops. The show also includes the small things that both a spec-ops person and enthusiast will enjoy(like the go bag). I'm very happy that a program like this has finally made it to television. Congratulations to Mamet and Haney. I can't wait for the next episode, and the movie following the season(hint...hint...please).

I AM MARRIED TO A FORMER ARMY SPECIAL OPERTATIVES SQUANDRON LEADER. I AM VERY HAPPY HE WAS TIRED, AND WENT TO BED,BEFORE I WATCHED THE FIST EPISODE OF THE UNIT. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT SHOW, UNTILL THE LAST SCENE, WHEN THE COMMANDING OFFICER WAS SHOWN DISGRACING HIMSELF,AND HIS OFFICE. A COMMANDER WHO SENDS SOMEONE OUT ON A MISSION, IN ORDER TO HAVE BED TIME WITH THE OPERATIVES SPOUSE,IS DIGUSTING. I KNOW YOU ARE PLAYING FOR THE HUMAN, SOAP OPRAH, WEAKNESS THING, BUT MY HUSBAND, NEVER WOULD HAVE HAD ANY SUCH WEAKNESS, AND NEITHER WOULD ANY OF HIS COMMANDERS. YOU NEED TO LOSE THIS CRAP,IF YOU HOPE TO HAVE A SUCESSFUL SERIES. MY HUSBAND, NOR I, WILL BE WATCHING, ANYWAY
birdgriff 03/07/2006
I totally agree with the last comment. Over there was a great show but the drama with the families ruined it. I think "The Unit" is trying to depict an Operational Detachment Alpha Team of the US Army Special Forces, and even though its extremly unrealistic it was still pretty cool and entertaining....UNTIL THE LITTLE TWIST AT THE END...that ruined it for me.
vtcrusade 03/07/2006
Well nice way to ruin a promising show in the last minute of it. What the heck is the deal with the Colonel and the blond having an affair. Looks like the colonel could give a rats butt about the Ranger Creed and the blond could care less about her husband being in harms way. Totally un-needed plot twist. Now it makes the Colonel look like a major scumbag, untrustable and laughable as an authority figure. The wife, well you can save me the crocodile tears blondy and just go find yourself another one of your husband, who's life is on the line, bosses to bang. What idiot writer thought that would be a good thing to throw in there?

The show was going great for 58 & 1/2 minutes - and then the Unit C.O. is in bed with one of his men's wife!!??! Is this Desperate Housewives meets NCIS? Why can't this show just be about gung-ho, ball-busting U.S. armed forces heroes saving the world from terrorists and such?
RoxiDoll 03/07/2006
As someone who has a boyfriend who is "in this line of work", I am totally hooked. I love e-ring...but I think this new show will surpass that in all respects. To the creators and the men they depict.... Huah!!
uxadmin 03/07/2006
The Unit was great. Show is going to rate up there with CSI.
misiea 03/07/2006
A very good premier....Worth checking out again next week..
aeronautic1 03/07/2006
Ham fisted dialogue. If this series has any hope of surviving, they have to drop the boring and idiotic wifey story lines. BTW, anyone want to tell me how you get the door open in a Gulfstream GIV in cruise at FL350? What a stupid show.
JGQuizzy 03/07/2006
I just turned on the show. It was over for me in the first few minutes. How can they open a new show and kill an innocent mule? I own several mules and there was absolutely no reason to do this.

Like it! Is is related to The Unit by David Shadows at www.davidshadows.com?

As a friend and former subordinate of Eric Haney, I hope it does well. 24 has done well, even with the glaring reality gaps and down right stupid twists(C'mon people, Jack is supposed to be the Uber anti-terrorist-why does he hold his weapon like a rookie?). This SHOULD do even better. But fans don't control what we see on TV, liberal weenies in suits do.

I've seen the pilot and been on set during most of the filming of the series. The Unit promises to be one of the most important, exciting television shows we've seen in a long time. The Unit follows the missions and lives of an elite squadron of soliders and their families at home. To see even a fictional represenation of the way these men train, the missions they undertake, and the skills they possess is awe inspiring. It is comforting, somehow, to know that men like this are standing between us and our worst enemies. The women are strong characters, too. Heck, they'd have to be to survive this supersecret pressure-cooker. There's action for thrill junkies and accuracy (up to the opsec point) for military snobs. Women will probably appreciate the men because they represent a new kind of American hero. (Or maybe it's an old fashioned hero. You know, the kind who has the cojones to sign his name to his convictions.) The series is based on Eric Haney's book, "Inside Delta Force" and the stories are inspired by his life and missions around the world. Everything about this series has the ring of truth and honor to it. And then, there's Robert Patrick, Scott Foley, Dennis Haysbert, Max Martini, Demore Barnes, and Michael Irby to consider. Strong, compelling actors, all. And characters worth spending your time with each week.

Not bad for a stolen idea. Hope it goes well so that the lawsuit will too!
ilikelivingher e 08/13/2005
Sounds very promising. I'm hoping that this show will be a hit. I think it will probably be a a hit because the shows that have aired on CBS at 9:00 pm have gone to become hits. DALLAS is a great example of this and most recently CSI. Also the cast doesn't look bad either. And finally some other shows about aliens on other channels don't look as promising. Surface(NBC)is probably going to get cancelled. Also Supernatural(WB)looks like it will get cancelled. The one that will probably survive will be Invasion(ABC), due to the LOST fans.
kattwoman 06/05/2005
this will have to pass the action criteria for this one to make it. you cant have a show with this kind of idea and flake out with the action
TeenyF 05/01/2005
It sounds interesting. Lots of action and adventure.
BRott 03/25/2005
I hear there is a new actor from Canada playing one of the Delta Force agents. I am not sure who else is scheduled to be on the show.
laboo 03/14/2005
I'll probably check it out.
njbeast 03/11/2005
Amy Acker has signed on to the cast. I'll watch anything with her in it. If she doesn't do this show I won't watch a minute of it.
DEVA 02/13/2005
Sounds interesting, it really depends on the cast.
Dawnsdinos 02/06/2005
I really liked the movie Delta Force so I'm hopeful for this one. Of course a lot depends on the cast.
