I was about 3 or 4 years old when this show first came out, far too young to understand even a fraction of what was transpiring in the storylines, but there were certain images that never left me. As a tot, I was fascinated by the monsters, or bears. I watched the show again as an adult, and find myself fascinated still, although for different reasons perhaps. Some of the episodes, admittedly, don't really work. The special effects are often primitive by today's standards. At its best, however, this was superlatively imaginative television, and the greatest episodes hold up as well now as they did when first released. With a limited budget, they created haunting, vivid dramas that may have technically qualified as sci-fi but managed to transcend the genre and become so much more. The creators of this show were often able to entice the best actors and writers to participate and the results could be magnificent. My favorite episodes? O.B.I.T with Jeff Corey, The Sixth Finger with Jill Haworth and David McCallum, Demon With A Glass Hand written by Harlan Ellison and starring the great Robert Culp, The Guests with Gloria Grahame and Nellie Burt, and Nightmare with Martin Sheen. I'd still put it up against any comparable TV series out there today.

A bit more scientific than The Twilght Zone, and very good, but still an imitation of the original.
