Okay for others, but not my idea of fun. First there's cat litter. Then there's the claw thing. Oh, and hubby's so allergic he'd be swollen and weepy all day. Nope, not for us.

Some cats are cool some not so much. It depends on each cat whether or not the rating is high or low. I will say most cats are on the lower end, but a few are pretty cool.

cats are very clean, easy to take care of, affectionate animals. Most people like them so they are not bothered by them being around and theres not much money that goes into there food.
twansalem 06/24/2008
I'm not a fan of cats in general, but some individual cats are well suited as pets. I'd be OK with having an outdoor cat or two if I lived in a rural area, but no indoor cats. They shed too much and I don't want to deal with the litterbox.

cats are great, love them.

My personal favorite. They take good care of themselves, and normally leave the house free of damage if trained properly. Most of them will require lots of vacuuming but that's something I don't mind doing more often. They're cuddly, furry and warm, and very unlike their reputation, they can be very loving and affectionate. My cats were adopted from a local animal shelter and we were careful when we selected our cats. They turned out to be the most mild-manner cats one can hope to have.

Cats are wonderful pets - sweet and affectionate, yet independent. They don't need quite as much time or attention as dogs.

I have always been a cat person and I love all and any cats (I have 4 right now ~ with one of them sitting on my lap right now).Very easy animals to take care of, as they are so independant. Also, easier to find someone to take care of my cats if I go away, than my dogs (not that I don't love them too!).

Cats are great pets to have, especially if you live in a apartment. Downside to owning a cat, is that they are expensive to maintain. However, they are very independent, and usually keep to themselves.

Great pets, easy to take care of, independent yet they can be social. Excellent pets, I have three of them.
Flick01 02/12/2007
I've never understood why women love cats. Cats are independent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you call, they like to stay out all night, come home and expect to be fed and stroked, then want to be left alone and sleep. In other words every quality that women hate in a man, they love in a cat.

Cats are amazing creatures. I adopted my cat off of petfinder.com when she was only 8 weeks old and she as been a blessing every since. There are some aspects to cat care however, that may make a cat not the pet for some people. If you like your furniture, you will have some work to do when getting a kitten. DO NOT declaw cats, it cruel and an inhumane punishment to something they were born to have. How would you feel if someone pulled out all of your fingernails? It would not only hurt, but you wouold be deprived of some natural antics that you can only do with fingernails. Also, if you live in an area that is known to contain Coyotes or any other dangerous wild animal do not let your cat be an outdoor cat. I know I sound cruel, but I once had three cats in my neighborhood taken off of their driveways!! by coyotes. It is just safer to let them stay inside and to allow you to bring them outside on a harness or with a playpen. If these things are taken into consideration then you will love having a cat. As a bonus...please look into the type of food you are feeding your cat, it does make all the difference in the world as to whether you cat makes it to 15 or 25. Just glance over to my reviews on Science Diet (no I'm not recommending this food, just read the review and you'll understand why I mentioned it), Nature's Vareity (now I am recommending a food) or Innova. The information in these sections will hopefully be of some help. Kate

Im not alover of cats at all I don't have any becasue my BF is allergice but even if he wasn;'t I would not own one anyway they are to pissy and possesive for me and can turn on you in a second. I only will go near a cat if is loving and cuddly not if it claws up your leg and scratches you up for not reason. I think that there is no reason for cats. Except for large cats.
alomewandsam 08/08/2006
Felines are the greatest and I will live and die by the sealpoint Himalayan! I adore them! And remember: there are plenty of animals in rescue, including purebreds, that can be adopted at a fraction of the price to buy from a breeder (however, if you are not sincere and are looking for a cheap way to get a purebred to breed in your backyard, forget it because adoption agencies insist on spaying and neutering prior to actual adoption). In any event, cats are so wonderful. They have their own personalities and are not stuck up creatures like some people try to make them out to be. They are very loving yet independent. If anyone were to mess with my pets, I would do to them tenfold what they did to my fuzzybutts.
kamylienne 04/10/2006
Feline companionship is not for everyone, but for many people it is an extremely rewarding experience. Cats vary in attitude, just as people do. Some are more "needy" and require constant affection; many, on the other hand, are aloof and prefer their solitude. Generally, however, they're considerably less "high maintenance" than pets like dogs or horses. If you want a "best friend", you're better off with a dog. If you want a pet that'll give you attention but also give you some space, a cat is a better bet. A short list of things to consider when adopting a cat: 1) Financial Obligations. Pets are expensive. Think of them as another member of the family (but, if it's any consolation, at least you don't have to send these "kids" to college). Yearly veterinary expenses, food, litter and toys are "normal" expenses, but you'll also have to consider what you may be able to afford if your pet becomes extremely ill. Try seeking pet health insurance options at your local veterinary clinic. 2) Housemates. You can't fit 20 cats in a one-bedroom apartment. You may not even be able to have two cats in that space, depending on their attitudes towards each other. And you also must consider if your dog or other pet may get along with the cat. 3) Breed/Temperament. Big, fluffy cats are pretty, but they also require daily grooming. Are you willing to deal with that? And some breeds might be less happy with being holed up with children. Do your research. 4) Allergies. Many people have at least some degree of allergy to cats. Are you able to share a home with a cat? 5) Aging. They don't stay as cute little kittens. If you want a cuddly little plaything, get a stuffed animal. Cats can get as old as 16 to 20 years, sometimes a few years more. As with any pet, careful research prior to adoption is not only for the pet's benefit, but your own.

They are so cute and so innocent. They are very clean ,more than dogs .They are so sweet.I personally love them.
IrishTurtle 03/19/2006
I love cats! I have had cats my entire life and there is no other pet more pleasant to come home to than a cat. Cats are the best because they are low maintenance, are extremely clean, and if you disipline them while they are young they are well behaved and behave much like a family member. Nothing beats the purr of a cat in your lap after a long day. I find tabbies to have a fun and loving personality.

You can have the one that belongs to my wife if you want it. . .
Vudija 03/11/2006
I currently have more cats, than dogs, but not of my own free-will. I prefer dogs, always have. I wouldn't trade my cats for the world, but I wouldn't be upset if we got another dog, preferably a larger breed on. I have 2 small lap dogs and generally find them highly annoying and far too spoiled for ther own good. I'm thinking of a golden retriever or rottweiler next though...

I've never really liked cats. They're lazy and they hardly do anything. I prefer dogs. But I like to have a cat in my lap so I can stroke it all day!
