Pros: The BAND named Alice Cooper undoubtedly deserves enshrinement. A huge influence to virtually every hard rock band that succeeded them. Cons: The lead singer, some douchebag named Vincent Furnier, assumed the band name and proceeded to become a celebrity without portfolio. Kind of like a post-modern Charles Nelson Reilly. About 3 good songs after 1974, and none after 1980; Stole Iggy Pop's act, dumbed it down and cleaned it up Verdict: The band-YES, but only AFTER the Stooges are inducted; the douchebag with the snake, by himself--NO

Alice has influenced many of the artists already inducted. Until he in inducted, the Hall of Fame is a joke.
sonjaandpetra 06/27/2006
Yes! Alice Cooper belongs in the Hall of Fame. And this is why we started a project to get AC inducted. If you want to help us and Alice Cooper then visit our myspace and sign the petition at: www.myspace.com/alicehalloffame

Many artists have been influenced by Alice Cooper including Ozzy, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, I could go on and on. Why isn't one of the pioneers and often copied rock legends in the R&RHOF?
lpdreport 06/02/2006
What is the Hall of Fame without the Daddy of Shock Rock. Can't be a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that is for sure
redleg13 04/17/2006
There can't be a rock hall of fame without Uncle Alice!
TheAntiqueRock er 03/23/2006
Another glaring omission from the Hall of Fame. I mean come on, Billion Dollar Babes, No More Mr. Nice Guy, I'm Eighteen, Welcome to My Nightmare. Need I say more. Oh yeah, the stage shows are nothing less than Rock and Roll theater on the grandest scale. There is no explanation for this omission.
sfalconer 03/13/2006
Alice is always remembered for his stage show and the snakes but there is a good body of work here, some really good music. I think it is safe to say the Alice was a big influence to a lot of band in the 70s, 80s and 90s.
iamintheknow 02/21/2006
He should be in the R and R Hall because so many bands have patterned themselves after him. And his music was great too!
frogio 01/03/2006
Putting aside the stage antics and the "godfather of blah-blah-blah" stuff, Alice Cooper has made a serious impact on the music scene for over 30 years. His music is fun and harmless...and his shows are better than most.
FantasyMan 01/03/2006
Should have been in when he was eligible. Just proves how much of a joke the Hall of Fame can be.
MariusQelDroma 12/31/2005
Great musician, one of the originals. Marilyn Manson can't hold a candle to his obvious idol, who by the way is a very articulate, well-mannered, and intellegent guy off-stage. I should know. Mr. Cooper was a valued customer of mine for a year and a half, and I wouldn't trade that time for anything. :)
JWaldron 12/30/2005
Alice Cooper is long due to be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. The Original Shock Rocker! He deserves it. The original 5, Alice, Dennis Dunaway, Michael Bruce, Neal Smith, and Glen Buxton. Now that was a band!!

Welcome to my Vote. On the border, but let's give Sabbath and Purple their doo-doo foyst.

Greta eray career. kinfd of Pertered out (IMO) after Welcome to My Nightmare (only women bleed?) Halo of Flies Be My lover (GREAT F%#@in' song)
CameraMan456 11/24/2005
Alice is truly a Hall Of Fame musician and performer. I've seen him 4 times, the first in 1979 where I took a picture that hung proudly in my living room until I got married in 1996, anything for love, I guess. If he's not deserving of a HOF spot, nobody is.
klsm54 10/22/2005
Come on, like him and his style, or not like him, he is a true pioneer in the industry. Plus his longevity should also earn him a spot. Put down whatever you're smoking for a while people and give Alice his due.
Gianthogweed 10/19/2005
Influential to many, but too much of his stuff is sub par.
pruehair 10/13/2005
Alice Cooper is long overdue the respect that he has earned over a career that dwarfs many of those already inducted. He has made several OUTSTANDING and groundbreaking albums. Love It To Death; Killer; Schools Out; and Billion Dollar Babies are brimming with classics that have been anthems, parodies, and standards. Many discredit Cooper because of his powerful stage presence, which they claim, takes away from the musical merit. It's a shame that they don't realize that he not only made great music.... he was/is also the pre-iminent showman. He single handedly STARTED the whole "Glam" genre that prevailed within the rock industry for years. Many overlook Cooper in favor of Bowie, or worse yet...Kiss! Please... check your history, get the facts, AC was the original. AC must also be given credit for his longevity. His stage presence is amazing, he gives 100%, and that is SO much more than I can say for so many of the stiffs that have already been inducted. The election comittee simply MUST get their head out of their ___, and give us fans what we demand! If anyone has ever represented rebellion and chaos (last time I looked, that's what Rock & Roll is supposed to be all about)better than ALICE COOPER, tell me who it is???
mrrichard 10/07/2005
I'm afraid many acts owe Alice their inspiration, and the permission to act out and create "shows." If there's any aspect of theatricality to a rock show today, he's responsible for starting it. No great talent here except for the context, so I'd think he has to go in as great influence or something. I just saw him a couple months ago (2005) and was amazed, pleased. No more amazed than a broadway show might amaze me, but with the hard rock, the great little band he'd put together, and his sense of humor, his sincere and energetic attempt to PLEASE the audience rather than to be worshipped and idolized -- I just think he's great. Unlike most rock stars, Alice Cooper knows he's not really important in the great scheme of things. For that reason alone I'd vote him in!
cjmyers41 10/06/2005
He should be the one with the keys to the door to let the others in. I saw him at Market Square Arena in 1979. He ruined me for everyone else. I keep waiting for a show and no one else would give me one. The closest thing that came to it was bowie's Glass spider tour. All the Freak wannabes owe him and he should be called the 'Grandaddy of shock and Make-up"
frankocool 09/30/2005
he still is the best!
JolojoT 09/27/2005
The Coop is still one of the greatest original song writers out there! He is still great on stage! He keeps up and never misses a beat. Hi vocals are bad-ass and he is one the origianls! His new album Dirty Diamonds redifines him once again. The lyrics alone are praise worthy, not to mention strong hearty vocals. He's recently gone back to being as great as he was when he started out. He's a guy from back in the day still attracting such a varried crowd. From teens like myself to all his fans from the 70's. That's fricken awsome! If I ever meet him, I'm going to drop to my knees and chant "I'm not worthy!". Alice you're awsome! 18-m-NM
Jomama69 09/15/2005
Hall of Fame? Nope. He was a phenomenon, not a talent. Billion Dollar Babies, anyone?
numbah16tdhaha 08/25/2005
Good guy, good tunes, and he's from Arizona. My brother did some work for him once and rates as the coolest guy he has ever done work for.
Tina V. 08/20/2005
Big for a very short blip in time.
Budc9512om 08/04/2005
The guy brought theatrics into rock, has had a ton of killer albums including his new one and influenced tons of bands. He definitely belongs in the hall.
Preatty Beat Up 07/13/2005
Alice Cooper is a legend in classic rock. A great songwritter, an aswome showman and a great voice. The first real shock rocker. But he aslo adds humor and fun to his work. He has played with many different musicans and changed with the times, which makes it difficult to really put a finger on him. From '71-'76 was his really strong period. With classic albums such as Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome To My Nightmare and an excellent greatest hits album there really is no reason he shouldn't be in the Rock'n Roll Hall of fame. His songs are still played on the radio today. Such classic as No More Mr. Nice Guy, I'm 18, Schools Out and Welcome To My Nightmare. Some of his later work is aslo very strong. 1994's The Last Temptation is an excellent example of that. I first got into Cooper when he released his comeback album Constrictor. That album really opened up to a new generation of fans.
Keno 07/13/2005
I don't know about solo Alice, but the band Alice Cooper should have gotten in years ago! Hell, they were one of the first heavy metal bands, new wave bands, punk bands, shock rock bands, goth bands. Any band that plays that kind of music should take a bow to the late Alice Cooper Group!
edt4 07/13/2005
I loved him as a teenager, probably as much because he shocked and upset (and repulsed) all the adults around me as for his music. After Muscle of Love (which contained some truly classic songs), he divested himself of the gifted band that had been responsible for much, if not most, of what had been so intense and powerful about his music, and began setting himself up as a schlocky Las Vegas-type circus act and 2-bit character actor. The music deteriorated markedly and rapidly after that, needless to say (but I'll say it anyway). Sad, I guess, but he and his original band (Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, Neil Smith, Dennis Dunaway) have left behind a substantial body of very creditable work that sounds even more seething and caustic today than it did when it was first released, especially when you put it up against the truly-pusilanimous crap out there now that's supposed to pass for rock music. True, a lot of what Alice and the boys put out is derivative (they obviously appropriated a lot from Iggy Pop and the Stooges), but songs like School's Out, I Love The Dead, I'm 18, Dead Babies, Second Coming, The Ballad of Dwight Fry, Teenage Lament 74...well, these are great rock songs by any standard. I miss these guys.
kingguiness 07/13/2005
Maybe for his early work but overall he's campy and gimmicky.
deves 05/18/2005
For his early work (Killer, Billion Dollar Babies, School's Out), yes he earns a place.
louiethe20th 05/16/2005
Although I am not a huge fan,he has paid his dues.
garjen55 05/10/2005
18, School's Out for Summer - both are anthems. He's the #1 artist in his genre.
doobiesNhof 04/19/2005
Glam rock's greatest EVER!!! Showmanship unlike any before or after.
SonicDeath10 04/19/2005
He deserves to be put in. Not withstanding his horrible 80's metal, he's been pretty consistent through out his career and has influenced a lot of people. Sure, he's an insane conservative maniac now, and he does insult people but hey: this is about his past music. And it was good.
Devon197666 04/08/2005
Alice Cooper should have been inducted years ago. if anyone deserves to be in the rock n' roll hall of fame, it's Alice Cooper!
LauraJB 03/31/2005
You better believe it. I am thankful for him of getting through some tough teenage years, especially when I was 18 and the song came out, Schools Out, he also redid the song from West Side Story which was great, Only woman bleed, even though some of you men may not like that song, but how true it is..... Alice a big thank you & WELL DESERVED....
mistershivers 03/29/2005
Alice is more deserving than 50% of those in the hall of fame currently. He created the theatrical stageshow as we know it. His pop success is unrivaled in hard rock and his charitable and humanitary work is awe inspiring. The godfather of all that shocks and rocks still is an outsider even though he was an influence on many of those enshrined already. Alice is all that is americana and is symbolic of america while peering through the looking glass. While he remains outside the hall, I will not pass through those doors in contempt of the industry telling me who was great, rather than honestly measuring the greatness of these artists.
Sajak16 03/03/2005
Come on. Alice Cooper had one good song. The rest is disposable glam nonsense that goes in the same bunching with KISS. Cooper was nowhere near other glam legends of the time like Queen, Bowie, Mott the Hoople, T-Rex, Roxy Music, or glam-prog rockers Pink Floyd and ELO.
caffeinecowboy 666 03/03/2005
Provided we're talking about the 1970's Alice Cooper and that the stuff he made after the original band was no more. How the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has neglected him to date is a sham. A legend who's never been matched, no matter how hard M. Manson tries. Come'on... Halo of Flies, Muscle of Love, Under My Wheels. Open the doors and let Alice in damnnit.
loveittodeath 11/28/2004
Its unbelievable to me that Alice is not already in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. His contributions to rock n roll are priceless. He is one of the most influential artists out there, and he practically invented the theatrical rock show.
coleslough 09/10/2004
yes..big influence on alot of bands
CastleBee 06/11/2004
Not one of my personal favorites (although I do get a yuck out of him now and then). I can't believe he isn't already in.
