Peter Gabriel Genesis was amazing. After he left they had 2 or 3 good albums, everything else is crap
jetrush2112 07/14/2005
The original line up, with Gabriel & Hackett, was so far advanced in music that it's a shame and a sin they are yet to be inducted!

The band Travis has a song with the lyrics what's a wonderwall anyway? Im changing the lyrics to What's An Abacab anyway? Peter Gabriel Genesis was great! Even for a person like me who thumbs his nose at prog rock. Phil Collins Genesis is pure junk! I will accept Genesis in the Hall Of The Fame under the condition that Phil Collins is not part of the ceremony!

An art rock band that made it. Their post 1990 output is disposable, but everything up to that (including Invisible Touch--bad song, good album) still sounds great. Lamb Lies Down is the best Gabriel record; Abacab is the best Gabriel-less record.

im going to have to agree wth CanadaSucks.

Put them on The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and yes there is a more perfect song than Firth Of Fifth....... Supper's Ready.
Lisa112 05/09/2005
OF COURSE THEY SHOULD BE IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. I MEAN, IS THERE ANY SONG MORE PERFECT THAN 'FIRTH OF FIFTH'???!!

Genesis should of been in a long time ago

Genesis deserve to be in the hall of fame. This would be a once in a life time experience to see Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherfold, and Steve Hackett on stage together.
Forgotten Son 04/21/2005
Greatest Prog band of the 70s. After Hackett left they were rubbish.
SonicDeath10 04/19/2005
Yeah they should. On the strength of their material from Trespass too Genesis, the self titled album. A very interesting, unique, and influential band, even if they influenced garbage.

Outstanding band.

One the great bands that created the Progressive Rock in the early 70's. Absolutely stellar during the Peter Gabriel's era, they kept a good level after his departure until Steve Hackett left. Even the Collins days after 1978 weren't that bad after all, even if they're not my cup of tea...
BassPlayerAJ 04/12/2005
One of the best prog-rock groups of the early to mid 70's (before Phil took over on vocals). Recommended Albums: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Selling England by the Pound, & Foxtrot.

You're right, Phil Collins. You can't dance.
mistershivers 03/29/2005
Great pop band, before that it was almost unbearable.

Genesis? No way.

These guys filled the Astrodome when Percy Sledge was playing his one hit wonder for the old folks home.
Skizero 01/14/2005
perhaps if Peter Gabriel had continued on. Imagine some of his solo material backed by the proggishness of Genesis. but moving Phil Collins to front and center and changing the focus of the presentation of the music, made Genesis a mediocre band with a lead singer who sounded like a synth.
MzGroove 11/29/2004
The band that most desreves to ne there but with everybody they are letting in, do we really want them to be there.
