You don't get as big as KISS got and stay around for as long as they have just because you threw on some makeup.

Kiss's critics would have you believe this. They like to ignore the fact that KISS removed the makeup in the 80s and continued to have platinum selling albums. (When most other 70s acts were forgotten.)

And every act in music wears costumes anyway. EVERY one. You think Kurt Cobain would go onstage not dressed in his "costume"? Bruce Springsteen wears a costume too. The Beatles wore costumes. Elvis wore costumes.

You gotta have some good music to back it up though. KISS did.

anyone that discounts KISS's influence musically does not know what they are talking about....The hall of fame really doesnt have that much rock going on in there...just look at the list of bands/artist that are not there..remember when jethro tull won best havey metal band...with metallica on the list??? these people who make the decisions are a joke!

how can you not put kiss in the hall of fame
just on album sale alone they should be there then add concerts and how they change the way bands are sold kiss open up more streams of money for future bands then any other band ever plus they showed bands and fans that if you put on a concert or go to a concert make it an event so fans get there money worth nobody ever left a kiss concert being disappointed

I don't care for KISS personally but as I said with Alice Cooper.....these guys were original and creative and influenced a generation.....and more.

Kiss not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame, sorry Fame, is the biggest joke I have ever seen or heard of. I do not know what the people in charge of this process are thinking of, but to put the Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Elvis Costello and God knows how many other worthless so called artists in before Kiss is an injustice to people that really appreciate "Rock And Roll"

KISS Should have been a first ballot entry to the Hall of Fame. Selling over 75 million records, and being (arguably) the biggest rock spectacle of the 1970's, I don't see why they shouldn't be on the '07 ballot.

#51-what a joke! Without Kiss half of these groups would have never been inspired to end up doing what they're doing. This poll must not be very known about, Kiss is the only band to ever have their fans protest their non-inclusion of the rockandroll hall of shame. KISS has influenced many different artists through the years. Also, what group/artist has as many gold/platinum releases in the USA? The answer is none, for they are the top group. They don't and didn't get the radio play that many artists do and yet they're number one, what does that tell you.

KISS has been a major influence on every genre of music. To deny them what they deserve is ridiculous, especially with some of the garbage that has been allowed in. Instead of KISSing AZZ, they have been Kick Azz for over 30 years. Those who think they should be denied can P(h)uck Off.

KISS has always done it their way or no way, Many of today Bands have gave them credit for being where they are now to include Metallica. They are very much over due to be inducted into the rockNRoll hall of fame. Hell if Blondie is in there then everyone one should be able to get in.

Among the most influencial and kick ass live bands, KISS stands as the kings of theatrical rock. They have sold more gold records than any other american band. Not only awesome music, making them deservant to be in the rock & roll hall of fame itself... but they were every kids imagination... they were a huge phenomenon, putting on groovy stage shows that inspired so many bands after them. People forget that... the fact that it was KISS who helped make them who they are today, the ones who brightened up their childhood and let them rock and roll all nite... and now underrates them, saying it's all in the make- up. Thousands never gave up, and after 30 years, they're still in the KISS Army... not wanting to grow old... staying a kid, and wearing a smile on their face until the day they die! YOU WANTED THE BEST... YOU GOT THE BEST- THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD... KISS!!!!

They might put on great shows, but to me they're more "show" than "music". People like KISS for the experience, rather than their songs (with some exceptions, i.e., "Rock and Roll All Nite", "Beth"). I lean towards no.

All that it will take for Kiss to get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a great critically accliamed album. The way for them to do this is to get a great grund producer and put together anthen like songs, make the songs "DRUM oriented" around heavy, funky and fast beats. The problem is that while their persona deserve to be in, they need a kick ass album along the lines of "Back in Black" or "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. I can almost gurantee that if they do this, they can break the streak...

KISS.....Absolutely......Sure the makeup was a gimmick to help with their musical shortcomings. BUT it worked and as time went on their music got MUCH, MUCH better and they are still at it.....Their not being in the Hall of Fame would be an injustice........Just look at some of the groups that are already in......Some of them are compete laughers..........Just go watch one of their shows.......THEY ROCK

Yeah they deserve to be in. I have never really revered them for musical talent/depth so much, Ace Frehley was an average guitarist at best. But Paul and Gene both had a mind for business and admittedly also had a feel for how to write a hit song. Anthems and such. These guys createde a new idea of what a live show could be. A worldwide force, with outstanding record sales too. They put excess into rock and roll before any one did.

Hell yes. KISS, while perhaps not the most musically talented, deserves to be in the hall because they singlehandly changed the Rock Concert experience. The sets, theatrics, pyrotechnics, special effects and showmanship upped the ante for all rockers at a time when rock was permeated with boring art bands and musicians that performed like statues. KISS represented a *turning point* that changed the direction of Rock and Roll and the concert experience.

KISS had the greatest Live show in the history of Rock. Noone other Rock Band has ever come close. The Make- up kicked ass but the music was still great.
