Random thoughts regarding division:

I always preferred division when everything divided up equally.

It always strikes me as odd that of the four main mathematical symbols, division is the only one that doesn't have a single-word verb equivalent like addition (plus), subtraction (minus), and multiplication (times).

And don't even think about trying to divide any number by zero. It won't work!

Even though it's just the inverse of multiplication, division, specifically long division always seemed so much harder than multiplication. I remember hating homework assignments that just consisted of about 30 long division problems. Now, on the rare occasion that I actually do division by hand instead of picking up a calculator, I can't see what was so hard about it.

To paraphrase a saying my late grandmother had posted on her refrigerator, I don't divide my love among my children, I multiply it!

Terrific, but only hard if it's an infinite answer..

The best part was splitting up the pie with my sisters so I always got the bigger piece. Yup, I was a master of division.
