First, Firefox is free, compact, small, does not take up much memory, and doesn't have the additional addons that the full Mozilla/Netscape suite has. If you want the email and web composing features, get the full Mozilla package and you will be happy. Second, Firefox has a look and feel very similar to Netscape/Mozilla -- because they are made by the same people! If you want IE look and feel, go for Opera. Third, extensions and tabbed browsing make this software rock. Themes, etc, are avaialble for download, and with it being open source, it is less vulnerable to hackers since people can examine the source. I have never had spyware install itself on my PC since using Firefox exclusively. Fourth, it has a built-in pop-up blocker. It gets most of them, but not all. Netscape has certain sites granted permission to do popups at the start -- Firefox does not have this. Bad points: As it gains popularity, hackers will start targeting it. While I love it, I ALWAYS update it when it tells me to. I also watch for things talking about new vulnerabilities that are found, and some do apply to Firefox. It's crashed a few times on me. There are some web pages that are not designed to be Firefox compatible, so naturally some scripts bite the dust when run on Firefox. I simply go kill the task in Task Manager, and start over. I can't seem to find an extension that will allow you to keep all the tabs you had open still open when you exit like Opera offers. But it's DEFINITELY much better than IE, and since I started surfing back in 1996 with Netcsape, I like it's look and feel

Best features are a good set of useful plug-ins, ease of updating, and security (because it is not a targe tof hackers like Explorer is.) The interface is slight more simple than competitors. Disadvantage is that it lacks and integrated HTML editor like Netscape composer. There are a few bugs, mainly related to sound and video, but they are rare enough so as not to bother me. there may be speed differences, but Explorer, Netscape, and Firefox, don't seem dramatically different to me. It may depend upon one's computer and network setup.

Utter lies from most on this board. Firefox barely works on most media sites, looks unattractive and doesn't really FUNCTION on the internet. Nice going with the plants, Mozilla.

This one is a winner in my book. :)

Great OS that continues to follow web standards instead of making up it's own (*cough*IE*cough*)

A million times better than IE. This browser just gives you so much more control than any other I have used. My only complaint is that sometimes the back button doesn't work on the first click.

I'm using this as my browser currently, and loving it. It's very similar in feel to using Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser, only FireFox is much less vulnerable to hackers and spyware. You'll still have to periodically re-enable IE for certain Microsoft updates, but this is certainly worth the free download.

My husband said he tried it and he liked it, so I gave it a shot. Loading times have definately decreased. I'm still used to netscape, but I can see where FireFox's benefits are. I gotta give it some more time, but I think I'm starting to like it.

I have tried a number of browers, including IE, MSN Explorer, AOL, Opera, and Mozilla, and have found FireFox to be far superior in terms of speed, simplicity, and protection against adware and spyware. You will never go back to another Windows browser, I guarantee it, after you use FireFox.

It always surprises me that people will claim anything is better than IE. This browser neither accepts RoboForm nor the Google ToolBar and some websites don't like it. It requires that I maintain two or three browsers in order to deal with different functions and different websites. Why be bothered if one will do it? Babysitting insecurities in one browser is certainly easier than keeping track of what might go wrong with two or three or four.

I like it and use it regularly. The well publicized security advantage is important. My favorite features are tabbed browsing and a new one, the address box turns yellow on a secured page. It is fast and generally a very good browser.

Firefox is fast, very fast. Even faster then Mozilla, its sister browser. A solid replacement for Internet Explorer, for the really expensive price of 0 dollars! (Unless you would like to donate to them, of course.) Combined with Thunderbird, it obliterates IE/Outlook Express and even Mozilla!

Great browser - fast, easy to work with.

Fast, clean, well-integrated with plug-ins

The fastes and the most powerfull browser on earth today and in the future. I love it it uses tabs, blocks pop-up ads and best of all its free w/ no adds.

Faster then IE or Netscape without the security holes. Nice features. We may have a winner. :)
