He's done. The late 30s are not kind to elite athletes, and Winky Wright, for all his defensive skills, has not been able to dodge father time. After two years out of the ring, you have to commend Wright for returning Paul Williams' call. It was all or nothing for Wright - beat a savage young challenger that nobody else wanted to fight, and prolong his career. Lose, and he's done.He lost, and he lost big. He didn't quit, but it was clear he just couldn't get his legs under him enough to slow down Williams. I thought he lost every round. But at least he went out a fighter.

In evaluating Winky Wright, it can be obviously said that he is not a big puncher. More of the fighter who could outlast anyone in the ring, Wright is the penultimate intellligent fighter who uses slick, impregnable defense and ring psychology to defeat opponents. Essentially, Wright is a great fighter who has one of the most solid defenses ever in the history of boxing. A defensive tactician who employs his cunning to frustrate and beat opponents thought to be better than he is, Wright is strangely overlooked. But in the case of his bout against Felix Trinidad, Wright showed the true fighter he was as he outsmarted and outclassed the good, yet-single dimensional fighter that Trinidad was (and is). Trinidad, in return, reacted in a way in which he knew he was beaten thoroughly. In short, Wright is a fighter not to be taken less than seriously.

he has the style to beat anyone.he wants the big fights but none seem to come his way.he beat mosley twice.so what they say.he wiped the table with trinidad.hopkins beatem so what the fight was close.wright needs a win aganst dela hoya to finally get the respect he deserves or get jones jr in the ring for a fight.he's one of the elite fighters just doesnt have it

I believe Winky is the best pound for pound fighter today he dominated shane mosley and he destroyed one of my favorite fighters trinidad and he would dominate jermain taylor with his phenomenal defense.

OKOK he beat an inactive felix trinidad and a ballooned shane mosley his good ill give him that but i just htink covering up all the time and not moving will catch him to him one day when he meets someone like jeff lacy or someone who knows how to pick there shots speed and accuracy i mean he can cover up and the opponent could just move back not hit him and win cancel winkys advantage and take the fight his lucky theres no more tyson coz his head movement couldve beat winkys jab.

Winky is a very dangerous fighter and will be a worthy opponet for Jermaine Taylor when Jermaine beats Hopkins in July.

greatest defense since pernell whitaker, damn fast feet and hands, long stiff right jab, very solid chin, and superb skill and technique. he doesnt have the greatest power but his jackhammer of a jab is sufficient. his wins over mosley and trinidad make him ready to face and beat any middleweight in the world.

Definitely proved he deserves a five after his decisive win over Felix Trinadad. I think he can beat Jermain Taylor but not quite so sure if he can beat Bernard Hopkins. That's a tough mountain for anyone to climb. But he's earned the right to try.
