It is the best show on Television in my opinion. The writing is absolutely Brilliant. The dialogue is so fast and sharp...very witty..and it's riddled with pop culture references which make it relevant to people of all ages. It's refreshing to see a show with such a strong female cast, who are not blonde bimbos. It's not only the females who are unique and diverse however...every character on the show has their own individual quirks which make them endearing. The show promotes good values and yet at the same time, it's not preachy like 7th Heaven...it's very honest. My personal favourite characters on the show besides Lorelei and Rory are Paris, Jess, Sookie and especially Luke. I think Scott Patterson who plays Luke is very good at dialgogue delivery...he's constantly making me laugh. I can't wait until Luke and Lorelei hook up (which is inevitable), but I'm glad that the show is makig me wait, because it ruins the atmosphere of shows when we get what we want too quickly.

I love the banter between Mother and Daughter. It is nice to have a fun drama that does not try and be something it is not.

I wonder if the script writers of this shoe have a side bet on the most words that can be cramed in to the average two second line? I swear, these actresses must practice a lot to speak so rapidly in short meaningless bursts. If you watch closely, it appears the players are reading from que cards. Beyond these qualities, another premise of a single mother and teenage daughter with money to burn somehow is not all that intrigueing. The grandfolks are the only ones that speak at an understandable speed and at least offer a character. But I must admit, my memories of youth do lean to the meanness of the average young female student. oh well, I guess everwood comes on next.

I used to be a fan of Gilmore Girls. But this show has become predictable. Rory is stuck in a love triangle again. Perky Lorelai cannot resolve her feelings between Luke & Christopher. The last episode was Lorelai going fishing. Stale plot...Good actors.
callmetootie 02/06/2003
Good cast, but the show doesn't work well as a whole. It just goes around providing nothing to the lame storylines, and leaves it's talented cast with little or no material to work with. Not terrible, but not anything you should watch either.

Girls are HOT!

More shows should be like this.
WilShakes1 01/14/2003
Clever, hip, and very solid in the writing/acting of its central characters, the eponymous "girls"; rather hit-and-miss otherwise. Lorelai and Rory's rapid-fire banter is reminiscent of WEST WING's but without the complicated plotlines, and Alexis Bledel's deadpan delivery is hilarious. Unfortunately, the show's creators clearly put less thought into their secondary characters, who too frequently appear as strident, unfunny caricatures. Well worth watching regardless.

I've watched Gilmore Girls since the beginning. It is a refreshing and wholesome show. Although I wasn't too keen on Rory hooking up with Jess. I felt she was misguided. In any case, I'm still hoping that the relationship between Lorelai and Luke will be developed. Their story line is bordering already on boring.
Carol0968 12/30/2002
The best show on TV. We need more shows like this, shows that families can watch together and talk about afterwards. I can't wait for each new episode. My girlfriends at work and I enjoy talking about the latest goings on in Stars Hollow. The regular views need to spread the word about Gilmore Girls, a much better alternative to "Friends".

I would give this show a 4.5 if available. People, let me know if a town like Star's Hollow exists because I want to move there! This is among the six shows I must watch, including American Dreams, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sex in the City, and the Sopranos. My only problem, that they air it opposite Buffy.

I didn't think I would like this show at all. Never intended to watch it - just happened upon it one night and decided to watch for a few minutes. I loved the quirky, dry humor and characters. No my whole family watches and its one of our favorite show.
theskylitup 12/03/2002
Love the dialogue. Love Rory and Lorelei. Love the interaction between Lorelei and her parents. Sometimes the town is too "cute" and sometimes the minor characters are a little too wacky. Sometimes the plots are a bit lacking. But I love this show.
faciabella1 12/01/2002
Awesome show! I love how Lorali and Rorry's interaction. The mothers involvement draws out the insaneness of most mothers in thinking they always know whats best. I'm glad they got rid of Dean as Rorry's Boyfriend, she needed a little bad boy type to spice things up. The show is great.

My sister loves this show. It makes me gag. Ugh!!!

We are late bloomers watching this show. It was on opposite Friends {my daughters favorite show} so now that we into repeats we are trying out Gilmore Girls. I found this out to be a good show. about a 32 year old woman and her 16 year old daughter. Lorelei comes from a well to do family and had a baby at 16.Rory the daughter is a very smart mature 16 year old. sometimes she seems even more mature than her mother.I like both the mother and daughter characters and the actresses who portray them are both good.the show has both humor and drama. We are hoping to watch more episisodes to get to know the show better. So far we like this show.
Brahmsian 11/19/2002
I've loved this show ever since the premier. It's got the best combination of comedy and drama, and the best dialogue, of any current TV show I'm at all familiar with. The fact that it's never even been nominated for an Emmy, let alone won one, is an indictment of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, NOT of the show itself. I just hope it doesn't go downhill now that the writers have decided to go down the "good-girl-falls-for-bad-boy" highway (which it stayed wonderfully far away from during Season One) by having Rory break up with Dean and start dating Jess.
crazy4rex 11/14/2002
a good replacement now that felicity is off the air. it's got excellent actors, it's incredibly hilarious, yet very pure.

I love Gilmore Girls. Its characters are quirky, charming, and of course funny. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel really bring out the best in each other and the contrasts between the characters adds an extra element to the show. The producer of this show has come up with so many interesting and original ideas that most people would never have thought of. Being a teenager, I also enjoy the romance between Rory and Dean and Rory and Jess. The show is just great overall and has become one of my most favorite shows of all time.
HEAVEN7 10/11/2002
I'm trying to be fair, because my daughters really like this show and I DO watch it with them. I think the mother is not totally believable- she has way too much time to act silly with her daughter than a *real* women with a full time career has. Her "I'm trying to be funny now" faces and cute sayings are wearing thin on me...I guess I want to see the real trials and tribulations of a young single mom and how she handled the problems with love and concern. The daughter is cute and nice...and overall the show is entertaining for me and my children. Just don't think you will walk away after watching it with anything to think about.
ofofofof 07/18/2002
a very good show, it's a drama show but it's funny a lot of times.....
SDStorm619 04/27/2002
I love the Gilmore girls! I understand that they are a unique twosome and it isnt a normal mother-daughter relationship, but i feel that it will encourage more mother-daughter relastionships to strive to be happier and more respectful towards each other. I am a young mother who i hope that me and my daughter can have even a percentago of the wonderful relationship that they have.
whitedevil311 03/20/2002
This show is funny and its nice to see a halfway normal mother daughter relationship on tv for a change.
Snoopy 01/19/2002
I personally find it very dull and boring. It almost made me want to change the channel to Friends, another show I hate.
agingpeacock 01/15/2002
Congratulations WB for an outstanding show. Gilmore Girls is a high quality "dramedy." Quirky characters and plenty of tasteful comdedy. Each character is a vital cog in this series. At first I thought this was a chick's show but accidentally discovered it because of the episode entitled "Cinamon's Wake." This episode was about the death of a flatulent zaftig kitty. Reminds me of my 17 pound tubby tabby, Mr. Bigglesworth. May Gilmore Girls have many more years of excellence!
ThatGirl1269 01/12/2002
What an excellent show! We've only just started receiving it here in Australia. It's refreshing to see a show that isn't "reality TV" coming from the USA. A great family show.
zippyjet 12/04/2001
At first, I avoided this show because, I thought it was a “chick flick” TV hour! However, last season, there was an episode that centered on an obese surly tabby cat name Cinnamon who happened to croak! Being a cat lover and the owner of a 20 pound tabby who lives to eat, my curiosity was piqued. I saw, I laughed and now I’m hooked. Gilmore Girls is more like a “dramedy” than exclusively a drama. This show reminds me of the early episodes of Northern Exposure before; it became trendy and then dumbed down. Lauren Graham and her Alexis Bleidel have an outstanding chemistry as they interact as mother and daughter. Lauren Graham as the hot young long legged mother Lorelei is stuck in the perpetual hippie chick rebellious daughter whereas her 16-year-old child Roary (Bleidel) is the one who’s responsible and has all the sage advice. Interestingly though Alexis Bleidel as Roary is able to balance being a braniac along with her quirky sense of humor and unter-kittenish innocence. Alexis’s character Roary is like a young kitten exploring this complex and baffling world. Another plus is that the producers and writers always manage to interject the wild and crazy world of felines in most of this shows plot lines. Fat cats, references to kittens and one of the funniest, “what about this portrait of kittens in the toilet?” And a signed work of art!” I hope Gilmore Girls keeps blending drama, comedy and all the quirks of its characters and becomes a TV classic that keeps us laughing for many years to come!
pedrogouveia 11/17/2001
I tend to dislike this show, after having watched it more than a few times. There is just no chemistry between anything in this show. The acting is very "weak", especially by the two protagonists of the show. But what really bothers me the most is the tons and tons of trying-to-be-funny-but-not-really-being-able-to remarks that this show is totally made up of. It becomes annoying after this dramatic device is the only one used by the writers of the show. It seems like anyone could write these scripts. The only reason why I give it a two-star, is because the show has a pretty original plot when compared to other shows. Oh, and also because the daughter is a hottie!!!
alainanoel 09/26/2001
A show for girls and women. Men just don't get it. My husband says it goes to fast for him and makes him tense. haha

The show is just to borinnnnnnggg oh god.
SHAS1980 05/06/2001
It's a very good show but can be a little boring at times. The writer's need to start focusing on some of the other characters on the show.
kristofer 04/13/2001
gilmore girls is a great television show. when it first came on, i skipped it because i assumed it would be about the mature daughter who is more motherly than the immature daughter, but i was wrong. i have been catching up on it in repeats, and am hooked. larelai's comments are so witty, and rory is great. it is a community where you kind of just wish you lived. it is a nice mix of drama and humor.
Yoyo 04/06/2001
This show is too juvenile
DODGEDART 03/26/2001
SUPER SHOW, THE WHOLE FAMILY WITH TEENAGERS (MOSTLY GIRLS) WATCH IT. THE INTERACTION BETWEEN MOM AND SIBLINGS WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN OUR FAMILY BUT IT'S INTERESTING TO WATCH.
one viewer 03/19/2001
One of my all time favorite programs. I expected a fluffly sitcom. I got a funny, smart family drama. It is refreshing to seen program where the teenage is a smart, respectful, and ambitious and the parent is not cast merely as a foil for some socipath of a teenager who's highest goal in like is act like some small time gangster. Stars Hollow is a small town where we would like to live. A really nice place to escape to on Thursday night.
tgalusha 03/13/2001
Best in a LONG time!
AnGelEyes 02/06/2001
This show is totally KICK ASS! its so refreshing to see a show that mixes comedy and family drama so well and still manages to leave out all the 'preacher' 'moral' CRAP that shows like 7th Heaven and Providence use. Its like a great mix between Once & Again's familly life drama and Buffy's quick witted one-liner comedy. Just EXCELLENT!
shortyone_03 01/28/2001
Gilmore Girls is such a great show. I watch it everyday. I just love the fact that Lorili and Rory can have such a wonderful relationship.

I love this show to the high heavens i think it is Hillarious it shows that not all familys are married and have 4 squecky clean kids it is awesome and extremely entertaning
Slicey 01/03/2001
This show hardly makes up for the loss of the unparalleled Young Americans, but at least it does fill some void. Gilmore Girls is smart, witty, brilliantly written and acted. I love the lead characters and some of the minor ones. If you watch Friends, you have to tape this show to watch later!
anduarto 12/26/2000
The sleeper show of the season. When I watched the initial episode I can't say that I was expecting much. I kept waiting for the story line to turn trite and obvious. Much to my surprise it never did. These are fresh, original characters nicely written and well portrayed. I hope it gets renewed. It deserves it.
TheInCrowd 12/16/2000
A wonderful teen drama about a mother and daughters relationship with the hardships of being a teen.
