If done right this can be a great motivator but more often then not, it turns into a a$$ kissing contest. Barring that it all comes down to if the boss likes you or not.

The problem with this is, the bosses often feel drawn to those whom they have lunch with frequently or their friends. If a boss has the capability to be honest and not have a personal stake in it, then yes this works. Not always has to be money either, if it's a certificate for dinner or something this is also going to be motivating.

OK...but only if the award is more money. M*****f*** a trophy, certificate, and/or plaque!
