I have found 2 packs of these on the ground. First one was the Basic 100's, and the other one was Basic Ultra lights. These are not my preferred cigarette. They taste pretty bad, and they burn fast. I will still smoke them though. I'm not picky when it comes to smoking.

While not the best in the world, they are pretty cheap, that's why the 3 star. That's pretty much all that's going for them, other than that they have an ok taste. When you're poor or without much money, these are the way to go, or quitting until you get 3 more dollars.

While price doesn't guarantee quality at the higher end it does guarantee absolute shit at the lower end. If you can't afford to buy a decent cigarette you are better off quitting. These taste terrible. I only tried it because I was offered one at work and I was out of my usual brand and I did not have enough time to go buy a new pack before my break was over.

these are absolutely horrible. they taste terrible and leave a bad aftertaste. only smoke them if you dont have anything else.

As their slogan claims "Everything in life is Basic", they're Basic. I smoke lights, only because they're free for me. I still think basic menthols are the shit, but seriously after 500 of them , I still prefer Newports over these. ***

These were good as they were free.  But i wouldn't pay for them!

No flavor at all, almost like smoking dry maple tree leaves wrapped in newspaper.

cough cough CHOKE.  It only get's TWO stars because you have to consider the price point.  If you are fiending and broke, they are smokable.

Had some basic 100's a while back, not that good but for the price you can't complain.

horrible, taste like shit. sometimes im not even sure if thats really tobacco in there. i would even be hesitant to bum one, and even if i was really desperate.

Basic is got to be the most awful tasting cigarette i ever puffed on.They
smell & taste like crap.They are over priced but they do send out coupons quite often and when i do get coupons for them i pass them on or trash em'...
Basic has nothing at all to brag about.
Note this if you can handle menthol,then
you may be able to handle them mentholated.But i doubt it..

I knew the world was coming to an end when I stepped into a local gas station and noticed that basics were a $1.50 more than marlboros.

The non filters are the good

These are not my favorite at all. Thank God I got my friend to switch from these to my brand of cigarettes. When I was forced to bum, these bland things almost made me consider quitting smoking entirely. The aftertaste is stale, they burn really quickly, and they don't give much of a buzz at all. A complete waste of tobacco in my opinion.

I have a better idea roll up a newspaper stick leaves in it and smoke away. You will never be able to tell the difference, and it will save you tons of money.

ok if you bum one...they used to be cheaper which is why i remember someone i knew used to get them cos they were cheaper don't know if they still are...I wouldn't buy a pack tho...nothing special...just a 'basic' cigarette.

Not bad but not outstanding. Where can you get the non-filter or are you making those as you smoke :) Once saw an MI gas station selling these for more than Marlboros.

A brand I closely associate with white trash and truckers. Even me and my prissy 6th grade friends thought these were crappy. In truth, they're not bad smokes for the money....if they were a touch smoother and burned a little better (mine always seem to burn weirdly), I could see myself smoking them more. Right now, I only have one if I have to bum from my friend.

the reason i rated it great was because as far as taste it is 5 stars of nasty.. if these were the only cigarettes in the world, i would have to quit. i will roll my own or buy silvers (generic brand found in most tobacco stores) these (silvers) only cost 1.84 tax included and taste exactly as a marlboro and the menthols taste just like a newport. other than that i wouldn't give a basic to my worst enemy! i know why the name is basic because it is basically crap.

These are bad, if you are broke and need to buy generic I suggest Dorals, because they don't taste generic. I gave these a 2 because they are way better than GPC's, Kings, or Rogers. Yuck!! Go for Dorals, all the Dorals are pretty good, not as good as my Marlboro Lights 100's, but great in a pinch!

Basic lights are the ones I'm talking about here. They have a sweetly sickening tasting smoke. The smoke smells and tastes slightly like chocolate. Not recommended. I recommend Camel Lights or American Spirit Lights.

They taste something like a generic Marlboro.The menthol is the worst experiance in the world so don't even go there!

2 things that draws me to basic:no money, desparity

much like smoking dirt or pieces of fecal matter.

Basic cigarettes are only okay because it has a really harsh taste that lingers even after you are done. The after taste can be a drag when you have nothing to cleanse your mouth with. A positivee aspect though is when you are low on cash, you can still afford Basic. When all you need is a fix and the taste matters little to you, then these are the cigs for you.

This cigarette is nasty! The taste it stale and it goes down anything but smooth. If you're low on money, collect change in the streets, cause it's not worth buying Basics.

Among all cigarettes I have ever smoked, Basic has ben the worst. Once, because of its cheaper price I bought Basics. But let me inform you about my idea about Basic after smoking it; its tobacco doesn't taste aromatic to me. It doesn't always burn well and required re-lighting in some cases. Maybe the problem is the low quality tobacco.

Basic cigarettes are very smooth and light. However, there's not much taste to it. Also, they burn out too quickly.
