I watch cable news all day and watch them all, but Countdown is by far my favorite. The comedic spin on the news is wonderful and really lightens my mood. I watch every night and record it when I might miss it. I find myself recommending my friends and family to watch, it is informative to the extent they can keep up with conversations as well as the political satire.

Keith is my absolute favorite -- and I watch a lot of news every night from different sources: Lou Dobbs, Charlie Gibson, Chris Matthews, Wolf Blitzer, C-SPAN, PBS (even Fox once in a while, but I have to swallow hard and force myself) and even Jon Stewart (OK, he's not really news. I love Keith and Countdown, especially his "Special Comments."

This show sucks. Keith really should have stuck to sports. Actually, he was only average at sports as well. I laugh every time Keith rants about O'Reilly. Truth be told, Countdown doesn't even have half of the audience of O'Reilly and Keith really needs to get over it. 8PM and I go to Fox News...sorry Keith..you suck. Cheers

His show can be entertaining, I really liked his consistent sarcastic wit when he directed it at millionaire athletes and team owners, even umpires, on ESPN. And I can certainly understand how left-wingers like ed, drlefty and drummond pound the drum about how courageous and important he is. To me, he's Bill Maher in a more expensive suit, better writers and a sneakier agenda. All republicans are to be mocked and ridiculed (which is ok with me) but democrats (particularly powerful democrats) are to be revered and coddled. Hey, it's his show and it's entertaining, even if it's a little (a little?) one-sided. But, comparing him to Murrow, well, that could only be proposed by an adoring fan who probably believes the US is being taken over by a fascist regime. (Oh, he maintained THAT, too?) I suspect that unless your name is Mohammed or Ahmad you are probably oblivious to any (ANY) loss or suspension of your civil liberties. Not too many private enterprises are being taken over by the centralized government. If you're in fear of that, you need to elect more CONSERVATIVES, not a gaggle of whiny, liberal democrats intent on abandoning Iraq to its own fortunes and spending the next three years conducting investigations of the Executive Branch, only to once again revert back to treating terrorism as a "law and order" issue, rather than a military issue. Keith's ratings will continue to climb as more liberals discover him. Conservative (also known as mainstream) Americans will continue to find him quaint and too liberal and only tune in occasionally.

He may not be Edward R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite, but he's doing what precious few in the corporate media have had the courage or resolve to do...namely, take a moral stand against the scumbags, fools, lunatics, zealots, and amoral opportunists who have blithely led this country down the path toward fascism for the past 20-plus years (is fascism too strong a word? I don't think so...look up the definition...if we're not already there, we're dangerously close). Motivated in equal measure by righteous indignation and sardonic anger, he eviscerates the banal platitudes and inane sophistries of the neo-cons that have gone unquestioned for so many years by so-called journalists and sad, insipid politicians with surgical precision. Thankfully, he's able to retain his sense of humor as well...which serves to make his commentary an even more combustible mix. No, he's not a journalist, per se, but considering the pitiful state of contemporary American journalism, is that a bad thing? I think Horace Greeley would applaud what he's doing. As Olbermann himself said on September 25 regarding the Clinton-FoxNews (sic) interview, "It is not essential that a past president, bullied and sandbagged by a monkey posing as a newscaster, finally lashed back. It is not important that the current President's portable public chorus has described his predecessor's tone as 'crazed'. Our tone should be crazed. The nation's freedoms are under assault by an administration whose policies can do us as much damage as al Qaida; the nation's marketplace of ideas is being poisoned by a propaganda company so blatant that Tokyo Rose would've quit." His exposure of hideous and egotistical parasites like Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly is a breath of fresh air, especially considering the paucity of any cogent counter-argument or rebuttal on the part of our placid corporate media (left wing media? People don't even know what left-wing means anymore), putana-like politicians, and their sycophantic, cultish vassals. I must admit that I don't have a lot of hope for this country or where we're heading. I wish I did. But it is refreshing to once in awhile hear a strident voice like Olbermann's, or Bill Maher's, or Bill Hicks (wish he had lived longer...would love to hear what he'd make of our current situation), or Noam Chomsky's, or Amy Goodman's. As long as they can give vent to their passionate outrage, I guess we can say that freedom (true freedom...not the kind that Dubya and his cronies drone on and on about) is not quite yet an anachronism in America. Bravo, Keith!

Olbermann produces a very good show. Critics pan him as a liberal, but then again, most people who don't follow the Bush line are seen as liberals, so I don't see that characterization as fair. Heck, over the past 6 years that Bush has been president, I've found myself criticizing many of his policies, indeed, I think he's been a great disappointment as President, and this is coming from someone who voted for the man in 2000 and was and remains a registered Republican. Besides, Olbermann's show is more editorial opinion, like Hannity and Colmes, or Tucker Carlson, or Bill O'Reilly--it isn't a news program in the strictest sense. Now perhaps he is a liberal, but that's his choice to be one and has a right to express that opinion! Since when has a political party had the monopoly on truth! Olbermann presents the day's news in a highly irreverant, humorous way, while providing some incisive commentary.

this guy is so unbalanced left its not even funny.

Only show I tivo. Special comments are gutsy and straight forward. I expect the network to (god) censor him? I think he's tp good a talent to ignore.

Never miss it. Witty, irrelevant and topical.

About the only Cable News show that interests me, other than Tucker Carlson's show and on rare occassion Hardball.

This show is HORRIBLE!!! He is liberally biased and seems like a weird combination between Conan and Walter Cronkite. Do not waste your time!
singsplatsing 02/22/2005
Is it wrong to review on your own WebList? Oh well...anyway, I watch this show religiously. It's generally funny, very entertaining, and the host is hot as hell. I'd give it a five but it is a bit too liberally biased.
