I enjoy a beer occasionally but hate all the calories (beer seems like a whole food group) and was surprised to find out that Guiness has slighly LESS calories than most beers. So forget the light beer and bring on Guinness.

I don't drink it too often but a nice fresh Guinness is a beautiful thing.

helmut 03/20/2007
This is good on tap, but I would never drink it at home. Out of the can, it loses something. Otherwise it's a drinkable dark beer. The definative dry stout, I don't care what you say about Murphy's.
DragonHawk 03/13/2007
This is another one of my favorate cooking beers! I don't really like to drink it straight though. It's too bitter.
GenghisTheHun 01/28/2007
We all know it's different here than in England and Ireland, but I don't care what side of the ocean you are on, Guinness is a great beer. That reminds me of a joke. So the Irishman walks into a bar and there's a brass lamp on the bar and he touches it and a genie appears and gives him three wishes. "Ah, faith - I wish for a bottle of Guinness that will never run dry," says the son of Erin. Genie: "And poof! there it is." The Irishman drinks it, holds it up, it fills again. Drinks it down and it refills. The genie says, "And what are your other two wishes?" Irishman: "Aw, just give me two more like this one."
MrSalty 01/16/2007
Severely overrated low-calorie training-wheels beer. Guinness is watery roast and not much else. Time to graduate and move on.
paddyjoemc 10/28/2006
Dont knock this drink until you've tasted it in O'Neactans pub in galway city. Gift from god. For a good guinness you need clean taps and pipes, short distance between keg and tap opening, chilled kegs, constant flow through taps (no prob) and a clean tulip shaped pint glass. I guarantee u will dedicate ur life to worshipping this liquid.
beerbongben 08/04/2006
The only good thing about this beer is the commercials...the taste, however, is NOT BRILLIANT!
hondadriver22 07/10/2006
horrible horrible mess. stay away unless ur posing for GQ or something, and even then dont taste it.
vodkaman25 05/30/2006
This is not beer! It has a soup texture and is for 40 year old losers and young losers who wanna look good in front of the ladies. It smells like crap and has way to much malt in it. Bad buy.
J-Bark 04/04/2006
A little overrated, a tad too bitter. Prefer Draught
hrpuffnstuff 03/26/2006
a meal in a bottle ! ! !
PlanetaryGear 03/11/2006
A full-bodied brew fit for a king. A nice black & tan goes a long way. It packs a good punch too, but gives a nice, cereberal, buzz that doesn't transform you into blithering idiot with chronic flatulence, like some American lagers I could mention.
Ih8rateitall 03/10/2006
WTF?? Give me a bud!
daedalus 02/09/2006
If this is the greatest beer in the world then I say the marketing matrix has you. It's not bad especially when converted to a black and tan, but there are better stouts like say Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout and hundreds of better ales and lagers.
homersimpson40 02/07/2006
lets admit it all, overall beer just doesnt taste that good unless its a lighter beer, lets all admit this also the stronger the beer the mroe bitter it is, so go for a light beer and it may not be so bitter and u can actually get a bit of good taste, i love the smell though. and if u wanna get drunk dont down a 6 pack, have 6 shots that way u wont feel bad from just drinkin like 2 litres of liquids. i just hate really bitter beer, theres no point u dont get even a bit of pleasure from it.
Drummond 02/03/2006
Carbonated soy sauce if you ask me.
guinnessman 01/27/2006
I tell you its the best there is. Jus sit with your mates in a warm living room, laughing and cheering. If the devil came to me with this proposition "drink a beer, and i give ya ten more years to live" id reply "only if it be a guinness. Try it, try it a few more, then you'll love it. Well, im off to see about substituting blood for guinness!!!
notbadnotbad 01/12/2006
If you haven't had Guinness, you don't know beer. If you haven't had Guinness, and don't know beer, you haven't lived. A proper pint is an Imperial Pint--a bit shy of 20 ounces, in a glass that bells out a bit at the top. Ideally, you're trying the non-pasteurized, on-tap version. Guinness is surprizingly sweet, a bit choclatey, and to call it any one thing is to deny how much their brewmasters have accomplished from simple malt and hops. I don't know. Maybe it's the Liffey. There are a lot of ways to make a beer. There are a lot of styles of beer. Guinness, undoubtedly, is the master of its style of beer. It's smooth, complex, soft, and hopefully for God sakes hasn't been abused by shamrocks carved into its head. When you consider that a pint of a good german Octoberfest or a dutch wheat beer will typically cost you double the price of Sir Arthur's concoction, it's a buy, too. Some ideas for Guinness: Mix it with sweetened condensed milk. Eat oysters on the half shell with it (stout may not be what you normally think of, but it's ideally paired with shellfish). Don't drink Guinness too cold (about 40 Fahrenheit is right, in my opinion) and don't drink it on a hot day--it won't slake your thirst, it's far too hearty. As they famously said, "Don't be afraid of the dark." If you can say as he can, Guinness is good for you, how grand to be a toucan, just think what toucan do! Slainte!

SCCOUNTRYBOY 09/07/2005
Well i saw the rateings on this site and me and my freind decided we would try it. All i got to say if you can drink that crap then your taste buds are all messed up.
PowerBen5000 08/26/2005
Some people say that mass produced beers are synonymous with crap. In most cases I am inclined to agress, but Guinness proves that a mass-produced beer can be a tasty and gratifying experience. Thick, frothy and going down easy, this beer is not for everyone. It truly drinks like a meal, and I drink it without food. Another great benefit: it has fewer calories than light beer! It's impossible to go wrong with this one. This is the stout to which other companies must compare themselves.
Shaun Marron 08/26/2005
In a league of it's own.
edt4 08/26/2005
Given my primarily Irish heritage, how could I not love this? Tastes almost as good coming up as it does going down...
spazz123 07/29/2005
I LOVE IT! One of the best beers ever produced... Here's to you, here's to me Together as friends we'll always be And if we ever disagree F*ck you, here's to me
earthbound 07/22/2005
Smooth, full-bodied, creamy, satisfying Guinness. Drink it with blackcurrant juice, if you like, drink it in a black and tan, pour a packet of salted peanuts into it, as a friend of mine used to do, drink it on tap if at all possible, but, if you are a beer drinker, at least give it a try. Three cheers for Guinness!
dpostoskie 07/06/2005
Not a beer that can be overly consumed. I dont like the cans or bottles but on tap its good.
GB4Life 05/07/2005
good stuff here. the irish know how to brew a true beer
Rocket Robin Hood 04/29/2005
Guiness is good for you!! Guiness Goodness. Healthy family type beverage that doctors recommend!
sfalconer 04/27/2005
It really is not a beer, its more of an Irish spread that they serve by the pint. If you like a thick sweet drink Guinness is for you. There are 2 kinds of people in the world people who like Guiness and people who don't. It is worth a try but you have been warned.
kingguiness 04/27/2005
The best beer in the world! It's a little pricey but worth it. Actually Im temporarily punishing myself for bad Vegas exploits so Im drinking crappy domestics until my finances are put back together.
dragonman 04/19/2005
This is the only stout I've drank, I usually prefer to drink English Ales. But when I want something to slowly sip and enjoy this hits the spot, rich and creamy. Too many though is not a good idea, stout headaches are terrible.
Beelzebub 03/14/2005
This is the benchmark for many. Being a Cork lad, however, I reserve my five stars for Murphy's.
lorne 03/02/2005
roasted malt is really good, I really haven't had a stout I didn't like by anybody, Guiness, Beamish, Black Wych. Usually get Guinness around Christmas or my birthday.
greenbreeze 02/20/2005
only a coors lite lover could diss guinness. guiness is the best known porter in the world and is a superb beer. all guiness lovers should try Murphy's, the lesser known superb irish stout
Skizero 01/24/2005
One of my favorites. also one of the most tampered beers in my opinion. i think i've drank more watered-down Guinness than i have straight. And draft is the only way I'll go with this beer. so it's always a craps shot.
Djahuti 11/17/2004
Really tasty on tap,the large cans also deliver premium flavor.Avoid the glass bottles.
CapAnson 11/16/2004
The beer that eats like a meal!
brentumsl 09/22/2004
This is what beer should be. This is the way beer was invented and should be drank. Not like the big fat drunk you see down at the end of the pub working on this tenth picture but a beer that you must take your time and enjoy or be drunk before you know it.
EschewObfuscat ion 09/20/2004
Brilliant!
LilJennie23 09/09/2004
I don't get the draw
wetterhorn 08/12/2004
If I were going to have one last beer before I died, it would be a Guinness Stout! Full and tasty, yet so smooth!
Blanco~Nino 07/10/2004
the best thing about being irish.
davekari 07/08/2004
How could you NOT like this stuff?
hotel283 06/24/2004
Hey I'm irish and i only want to drink this stuff now and then. Don't drink too much, stout hangovers are the worst....
Gehrig 06/19/2004
Get your knife out so you can cut through this muck.
MedicL 06/05/2004
Guinness truly is the king of beers (move aside budweiser), rich, creamy, thick, every pub pulls a slightly different pint but all are fantastic. When in a pub, i live off this stout, definately an aquired taste and you can really tell something about a person who drinks Guinness, they know a quality beer when they see one! Well and truly the best beer in the world, ALL HAIL GUINNESS!! well done Ireland! PS: The bottles are sh**e, they taste gassy and this should NOT be the case, the cans are good tho.
ANSGARD 06/04/2004
The best beer ever tasted! It's the best, the king of beers compliments to the irish
joemerritt_199 9 03/31/2004
Oh God, thank you for this triumph of flavor and goodness. I wouldn't want to live in a world without Guinness.
