My friends and I conducted a blind tasting of vodkas and we found that Grey Goose had an offensive taste.

vastly overpriced- taste is not any better then Stoly, Findlandia or Fris- clever marketing and a nice bottle seems to make this a status symbol in many younger circles- for me taste and value count much more then image- look elsewhere- for value and quality at much less money. SEE Vodkaphiles.com a part of Russian life for reviews of many different vodka's- these are true Vodka fanatics grey goose is rated 3.98 oot of 5- Findlandia is rated 4.70 Fris 4.75 and Viking Fijord 4.60.

I love the taste of Grey Goose and ive tasted alot of vodkas.
delbomber 03/12/2006
I have been a Grey Goose hater for a long time...I'm from the school that believes marketing and quality have an inverse relationship when involving wine and liquor...but in tasting after tasting I found Grey Goose to have a great pepper and anise flavor, with a level of smoothness that is hard to match. Easily identified in every round with ten other vodkas, it loses some character when chilled.

I LOve it!!!!!!!
jpollard 01/11/2006
I found this to be a very good vodka. Perhaps a little overpriced, but very good. I was told a long time ago that you couldn't tell one vodka from another. That was obviously a lie!
divo15 01/04/2006
Not much flavor, but it's the smoothest vodka I've found. Great for an extra-dry martini.
Mike Skinner 11/17/2005
I found it not as good as advertised. Some after taste that did not agree with me.
sedmunds 11/09/2005
Grey Goose is terrible. It's made from an unknown mix of grain (lowest of the low in term of vodka) and isn't smooth. For all you believers, taste it again against a truly smooth vodka like Chopin (from potatoes). Goose is made in France at an anise distillery -- they don't even own their own production facility. That's why it tastes like medicine. They actually rent out the distillery once a year to produce the stuff.

Im on dat GreyGoose do i know u no do i know u NO
davisbs 09/23/2005
Although OK, Grey Goose does not come close to living up to its hype. As a lover of clean, quality vodka, I very much prefer Chopin (clearly the best vodka in my opinion) and Kettle One (the best valued vodka in my opinion).
oss 09/07/2005
By far the best and purest tasting vodka that I have tasted.
daonionman 07/11/2005
Pretty expenisve, but for my money it's some of the best vodka i've ever had, goes down very smooth and has a good taste.
irishgit 06/28/2005
If you have a toilet to clean, this is your vodka.
JOHN HAYEN 06/28/2005
This company gets an A+ for marketing because this is a very poor quality and tasting Vodka. Poor mans vodka at a rich mans price. Kudos to a great marketing campaign.
jjs35 06/12/2005
Good marketing has made this terrible vodka popular!
gart66 05/21/2005
Decent...dont know it won an award though...very over priced for the quality.
jsobo119 02/15/2005
Had some the other day and thought it had a windex flavor probably more like a spirament aftertaste. I much prefer Liksusowa, Kettle One, or Three Olives. Don't get me wrong it is ok but I wouldn't buy it even if it was inexpensive.
Wavebacker 01/16/2005
Good stuff, esp. chilled.
Theodore J. Stalla 01/15/2005
Could be the most overrated vodka out there. Beautiful bottle--yes! Smooth taste--NO!
Paulperr 12/25/2004
Simply the best!!

Finlandia in a pretty bottle. Extremely over-hyped.
pixiehart 09/15/2004
Love it! Tastes great and goes down smooth! Well worth the price.
Daisymaven 08/11/2004
Best vodka I've ever tasted, and I've tasted quite a few. Simply the best.
luckysnp 08/07/2004
Might as well be water
listen to me 07/22/2004
would give it a 5 but price is a little out of range. very smooth and goes down easy. If you dont care about the price, go for goose
magicguy04 07/19/2004
In the world of vodka, Grey Goose stands at the top. It has the clarity, body, head, finish, and taste of a truly superb-crafted vodka. I have worked as a bartender of an Ohio Country Club for the past 17 years, and I have experienced, sold, and sampled just about every brand I can think of. In all this time I have never come across anything more perfected than Grey Goose. Now, let me admit, all the cheaper brand, Absolut, Skyy, and Stoli's are all quite good also, however, they can't match Grey Goose's super-premium status. I am tired of all those who pan Grey Goose as a , fake, pricey, over-rated piece of rubbish. It simply is not. Furthermore, for all those who claim that a good vodka is supposed to taste like water, you're simply ignorant. Let me give a lesson- A good vodka should have, fist of all, exceptional clarity. In a glass is should not be discernable from water by a glance. When tasted, the Vodka should hit the palate and release a distinct flavor based on it's creation process. Grey Goose does this, and it does it well. The Goose releases a firm, not heavy, taste of citrus and charcoal that leaves only a slight distinction upon the taster. It is not overwhelming. Second, when swallowed, the vodka should warm the throat, but not have too much of a biting heat. Grey Goose also does thuis superbly. It has only the slightest heat, which of course is from the alcohol. Last, the finish of the vodka should respresent a different taste from the initial presentation to the palate. Grey Goose leaves a slight, minty flavor in the mouth, which compliments it's heat nicely. So there you go. Grey Goose is a winner, and rightly so. To all those who question it's status as the top marked vodka in the San Diego World Spirits Championship, give it a try. The Goose will not let down and serious vodka lover who is looking for the best, and is willing to take the time to find it.

THE benchmark by which all other vodkas are measured
Jo Ellen Jones 06/02/2004
Way, way over rated
forever21 04/12/2004
OOoh!! This vodka is so smooth and yummy. I can drink this straight from the freezer and it makes me want to slip on my silk teddy and do crazy things to husband. It is definitely worth the price!
minkey 03/11/2004
I used to have the opinion that this was about the same as Ketel One, but another bartender at my restaurant insisted that Grey Goose is much smoother. So we had a taste test, and threw Skyy, Absolut, and Stoli (our best selling vodka's) in the mix. What we found was that Grey Goose was easily the smoothest going down. Pour a shot of Grey Goose and Ketel One - you will see.
ishbit23 03/09/2004
OOOO, fancy bottle, thats about it people! This shi-- is freakin expensive, and really not worth it!! Go with Ketel One.
Rude 02/25/2004
Tastes like water

The best!!!
moterman 12/24/2003
I've never cared for Vodka. To me it tasted and smelled like rubbing alcohol. I was told Gray Goose is the finest Vodka in the world. Sure did make a beliver out of me! Pleasant taste, no smell and if you can afford it, goes down like water. Get over Made in Frace, the Goose rules!
rdrake316 08/31/2003
Will you Americans stop the childish act with regards to the French. You would have lost your war of independence if it wasn't for the French Navy! Get over it! I am tired of you scapegoating them. they march to their own drum and that pisses off your stupid president! That all said, Grey is a smooth vodka. FYI - vodka is Polish and not Russian. I recommend a good Polish potato vodka.
gundog 06/04/2003
Nice vodka, but I can only give it three stars due to the stupidly-high price. Not much character here, but that's not what knowledgable drinkers are looking for in a western-style vodka. This is probably best suited for mixing absurdly expensive cocktails. Unlike a good Polish or Russian brand (Wyborowa, Sibirskaya, both usually available for $10-12) it's not very interesting to drink neat. Basically a well-done girly vodka for yuppies and francophiles.
dane 04/21/2003
Smoothest vodka in the world. Don't be fooled by Russian and Polish brands. France has superior water and that's the secret bedhind Grey Goose.
DonnieBrasco69 04/02/2003
Its great vodka and readily available in most bars. If you mixing use toilet water like Absolut, but if you like a good vodka on the rocks or vodka tonic then pick the Goose. Goes down smooth.
zuchinibut 03/12/2003
Grey Goose goes down smoother than any Vodka I've ever had.
tatanya28 02/26/2003
Sex in a bottle. If you are basing your taste simply on the country of origin, rather than your taste buds and gag reflex (or lack there of when it comes to grey goose), you're a moron. Gee, I would much rather have crappy vodka that makes me gag from Russia rather than really smooth, nice vodka from France... yeah, that makes sense... Okay, okay...I've gotten 11 not helpful marks on here, so my opinion must not be clear. I LIKE GREY GOOSE. I think it is a great vodka without the usual harshness of regular vodka. Even premiums like Stoli and Skyy can be hard on the throat and stomach, but Grey Goose has no such qualities. In my OPINION, it is a great vodka. A bit pricy, but worth the money if you can afford it. There. Happy now?
Heilige 02/08/2003
Grey goose to me is like enjoying a great drink that has been watered down. sorta steals the horah from it all if you ask me. Grey Goose is vodka for for light weights, not that there is anything wrong with that just not for me.
JKooks 01/20/2003
I don't care if this stuff was made in a Martian sweatshop - Grey Goose cannot be beat. The fact that it is as low as it is on the list just reflects how inexperienced with the product most people are; I'll admit, it is a little hard on the wallet. Yet, anyone more concerned with the quality of the beverage and less so with its place of manufacture can appreciate the unrivaled smoothness of this product. It's the only vodka I can really enjoy straight.
monkezuncle 11/20/2002
I agree, the french may be good at champagne and wine (by the way, b/c of a fungus, any french wine after 1958 is actually from a transplanted California vine. The french hate that when you remind them.) but they're not very good at vodka. Grey Goose (particulary the Citron) has a distincly metallic aftertaste that almost tastes like medcine or a strong vitamin. For the price, spend the extra 5 bucks and go for Chopin. Besides Grey Goose is too mainstream to be exotic so don't bother using it as a display at a party.
verso 06/28/2002
Grey Goose is o.k., but the taste is definitely outweighed by the Madison Avenue marketing hype.
charliethetuna 02/06/2002
If you're mixing your vodka with mixers, skip it. But, if you like your vodka on the rocks or straight up, or in a vodka martini, go no farther. From the absolute smooth texture to the complete lack of bite, and the sensual feeling you get from head to toe, Grey Goose is absolutely #1.
DukeCrazie04 08/16/2001
UNREAL VODKA. You can literally pound it from the bottle when chilled. So smooth.
