This years AL East Champs. i'm not trying to jump on a bandwagon, i'm not a big BoSox fan, but man i loved watching them cream the Yankees last season, and i know they are going to do it again.
James76255 01/23/2005
I like any team that has a great history. From Teddy Ballgame to Yaz to Boggs to the World Series Champions, there is a rich history here. Heck, the left field wall in their park has more charecter than some teams have on their roster. Plus, we no longer have to hear about the Curse of the Bambino after last October.
Newsbabelover 01/07/2005
Look, let's be reasonable, okay? The Boston Red Sox FINALLY won the World Series in 2004 (YES, they DID!)). Their previous World Series Championship? 1918. So, like Halley's comet returns every 76 years, the Red Sox are due to win again in the year 2090. I can live (and die) with that!
Byrdiohead 12/13/2004
Thank you Sox for beating the hell outta the Yankees.
Beelzebub 11/30/2004
Looking back, from the comfortable confines of the World Series win, it is interesting to read comments from the middle of the season. Theo goes from being a moron to a genius. Nomar who? How about them Yankees! One of the biggest comebacks in sport.
redsox04 11/12/2004
guess what you little f***** yankee fans???? we kicked your lil a**es in the ALCS and NOT ONLY DID WE DO THAT BUT WE MADE HISOTRY TWICE BY BEATING YOU GUYS AND THEN WINNING THE WORLD SERIRES!!!!!!! WHO'S YOUR MOTHER F****** DADDY NOW YOU LIL DAMN A**HOLES?!!??! HAHAHAHA YANKEES SUCK!!! YANKEES SUCK!!!!!!!!! RED SOX IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD!! THAT'S WHY WE WON THE WORLD SERIES! 2 SWEAPS AND THEN KILLIN THE YANKEES 4-3!! CAN YOU SAY BEST TEAM EVER?!?! :))))) YANKEES SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DonnaJ 11/07/2004
RED SOX RULE !!!!!! I am so happy for the whole team... WORLD SERIES WINNERS... They deserve it.
TriSec 11/01/2004
Have I mentioned recently, The Boston Red Sox have won the World Series!!!!! I'll never get tired of hearing that.
jgls 10/27/2004
i'm a masochist, i love the red sox. i wrote that before we were world champions. right now i'm still in a fog, but it will sink in more tomorrow. i have only been following the redsox since 1975 and they have broken my heart numerous times. tonight they delivered what ted williams, bobby doerr, jimmy foxx, yaz, luis tiant, jim rice, fred lynn, dewey evans, nomar, and that turncoat vulture roger clemens were unable to deliver. in no way do i compare my suffering to those in new england who live and breathe red sox baseball, but i feel as if a tremondous weight has been lifted from my shoulders. i am so proud.
Solenoid DH 10/21/2004
Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox and Curt Schilling in particular, for an inspiring performance and an historic comeback, winning the '04 pennant. I hope Calvin Schiraldi and the rest of the 1986 team saw this last night. I've wanted it to happen for them for the last 18 years. And it's especially gratifying that they did it in New York City.
nyyanksfan 10/20/2004
CHOKE...in game 7...how pathetic!
Sarissia 09/15/2004
Let's go Red Sox!!
katekat 09/13/2004
Come on Red Sox. I was getting bored with that 10.5 game lead in the American League East. The playoffs wouldn't be the same without ya! With Love, A Yankee fan
casapulla 08/24/2004
There aren't too many franchises that I tune in for...just to see how they are going to lose. In 2004, it was simply inept management that's unfolded for all their fans to witness. Last year, this team traded a Yankee-killing, .300 hitting 1B/3B in Shea Hillenbrand for nothing (and no visible reason). This year, they show how future their brain-trust actually is -- by hiring Francona because he's their new pitcher's friend (Schilling), abuse/alienate their franchise player (in Nomar) long before ever getting his replacement (and butchering the A-Rod deal). Like the NY Mets, they are held down by poor off-field decisions. Their owner and management team is where the games are lost (this year). Oh yeah, and one more thing: 1918.
OneHungryMonst er 08/23/2004
I love Boston, but they've been underachieving a bit. They might not even make the playoffs!
glowingmutan 08/18/2004
they players are just very veyr good. im rating it a 3 stars becuase of poor mangement from francona to henry. not enough strictness. theo really needs to impress us. no not jimmy anderson or someother no name. with this payroll he should be able to have alot more. francona never throws the peopld who desve to be thrown under the bus to be. take kevin millars comments. he plays him. francona needs to take charge
kingtodd1 08/13/2004
The Curse Of THE Bambino should I say more the ownership has always been idiots
Jwash56 08/08/2004
epstein is a moron. im not a bosox fan but trading nomar is like begging to lose. now they have aleinated alot of fans and now the sox have lost any chance of winning they had
Blanco~Nino 07/08/2004
i am from massachussetts and i must say i a m a patriots, celtics, and bruins fan. However I gave up on the red sox after the alcs last year. I am starting to believe they are indeed a cursed team. Everyone says they will win this year cause their roster is loaded with talent. Doesn't matter. They will find a way to lose. They snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!
BeatlesfanStev eo 06/24/2004
My favorite team.
DiamondDavid 05/23/2004
I think I dislike this team as much as the Yankees. For all the talk from Red Sox ownership and fans about how unfair Steinbrenner is for buying expensive players, well, with all due respect, cry me a river. The Red Sox are 2nd in payroll, nearly $30 million ahead of the 3rd place Angels. So please, spare me the Yankees are evil crap. Having said that, the Red Sox always seem to be in the playoff hunt every year, and their front office is dedicated to putting a winning team on the field. This year needs to be their year though, with Pedro and Nomar eligible for free agency after this season.
VinnyIN 05/17/2004
I'm originally from CT, so I was born and raised a Yankees fan. Everybody knows that Massachusetts is the most inebriated state in the nation, how else can one like Massachusetts teams? The fact that the Red Sux haven't won since 1918 and hence have an 86 year tradtion of losing, yet the dumb Masswipes still root for them prove how bombed they really are. How can you be a fan of a team that has the biggest Prima Donna's in the game, Pedro and Manny? Pedro should have been arrested for throwing an old out of shape man like Don Zimmer to the ground, absolutely no excuse, as well intentionally throwing at Karim Garcia's head. The fact that A-Rod didn't go there and signed with the Yankees is absolute proof that NOBODY want to go to the Red Sux. The Red Sux are a classless group of thugs. Who cares if the Red Sux beat the Yankees in the season series so far, the last laugh will be at the end of the season when the Red Sux continue their losing tradition! The Yankees will be celebrating, and the Red Sux will be crying, just like their fans.
REDSOX#1 05/14/2004
Well... what can i say? EVERY1 knows that the red sox r awesome!!, and the yankees suck. everybody jus likes the yankees because they USED to win a lot. but guess what, all that crap was in the PAST!!! so every1 who likes the yankees, i would check the score board, you guys r doing pretty bad. and were not talking about the PAST im talking about the NOW. and NOW, the yankees suck and the red sox rule. redsox-1st place yankees-..........will be continued
redsoxbabyxo18 05/11/2004
YANKEE UPDATE: well...its plain and simple...theres no sence in repeating my self but what the hell y not i only can speak the truth! all you damn yankees fans are STUCK IN THE PAST...yes they WERE good BACK THEN..but guess wut....the future is what counts..and thats whats NOW. we CANT change the past and we KNOW that we made quite a few mistakes...but that doesnt matter ne more...what matters is RIGHT NOW...haha and guess who is 2nd RIGHT NOW? wait...hmm the yankees ARENT they are like 7th...and where are the red soxs? oo yah that would be FIRST... haha so seriously all you yankees fans need to GET OVER the fact that you guys USED to be great...and now you have an all-star team but are STILL NOT better then the red sox....soo we will see once the world series comes...if you guys even make it there...soo its plain and simple spelled out for you...THE YANKEES SUCK THIS YEAR....AND THE RED SOX KICK UR ASS BACK TO WHEN BABE RUTH WAS LIVING....thank you....
ilovefootball 04/28/2004
The red sox just beat the yankees three times in a row and you say the yankees are better you should stop thinking in the past and come to the future yankees suck!!!!!!!!!
rerererererere rerere 04/08/2004
Sox rock
kinkykinks 04/02/2004
they suck because they traded babe ruth to the yankees how stupid was that?
yanksrock1918 03/16/2004
I hate boston because they are an inbarrasement to baseball. I am a true hearted yankees fan and u can tell me that the red sox do not get embarresed from losing to the same team because of 1 trade! Red Sox Suck I hate them
minkey 02/19/2004
I like the Sox and think they've got a good shot at winning again this year. My only question is that last year all of their hitters had career years - what is the likelihood of of that happening again? And will they get the performance they expect from the ageing Schilling? And will Nomar and Manny play with heart and dedication after being potentially traded? To be honest, I have faith that the Red Sox will provide us with nothing less than another heartbreaking season. Besides, if they do win the Series then they lose the curse and some of their aura, so they wouldn't be quite as fun to watch.
JorganVonSting le 09/06/2003
Crap-junk team. With the Yanks in that division they are screwed. The Curse of the Bambino doesn't help their cause either. Second place, hopefully farther back, now and forever. 1918! 1918! 1918!
alty6905 08/17/2003
I hate Boston because they aspire to be the Yankees but always fail.
rangerrick426 08/05/2003
I can't believe this team gets a higher rating than the Yanks. Prolly cuz the Boston fans just live to hate them, and even without knowing anything about the team, they just simply bring down the ratings, just because they're the Yanks. I mean how can a team who hasn't won the series since the end of WORLD WAR 1 (or something like that) be rated higher than NYY? For crying out loud, they've done it 26 times and counting! And the Sox still get a higher rating? Unbelievable. As for this team, offense is great, but mediocre otherwise. NYY should still be in front of these guys in the ratings though.
Hardwire 08/04/2003
They are a hard luck team in a tough division. Lowe is having a bad ERA year and they can't score any runs for inconsistently heatlthy Pedro. Best hitting in the game, and now have a closer in Byun Yun Kim. If they make it to the offseason, they aren't going nowhere, because they will either play the Athletics (pitching could shut them down) of White Sox, who they could beat. But they have to have pitching to carry them the distance.
patsfan11 07/03/2003
Been a Red Sox fan all of my life and I'm sure that one day, (before I die), they will win the World Series. I am glad that they now have new owners.
Datmartin 06/26/2003
Cursed Of The Bambino!
AutoJC 06/16/2003
Get some pitchers, already!
Maalox 06/05/2003
The only baseball team whose history reads like a Dostoevsky novel. Except that if old Fyodor tried to write this stuff, no one would believe it. Baseball has some proud franchises. But the Boston Red Sox are not a franchise. They're an alternative lifestyle. And if that weren't enough, Red Sox fans tend to be bigger students of the game of baseball than any other fans. The conversations heard at Fenway Park are like nothing you'll hear outside New England. Fans understand WHY players make the decisions they do, and they know when a player has made even a modest mental error. They know the rules and strategy of the game better than some of the players they're watching. In a region where almost everyone gets a college education, and an only slightly smaller percentage are rabid about baseball, I suppose it stands to reason. Add to that a charming and noisy if run-down museum of a ballpark, and you pretty much have the ultimate baseball experience.
rich2002 06/05/2003
Best team of losers.....year after year after year after year.....
Moosekarloff 06/04/2003
They can hit, but totally atrocious in the field. Solid starting rotation that has underperformed and a bullpen by committee. Decent manager, but suspect front office. The Sox have gotten off to a good start in 2003, but that's owing to the fact that most of the other American League teams suck: about 1/3 of the team's opponents are playing essentially at the AAA level. This team will win over 90 games, but may not even make the Wild Card.
g0odchrl0tt 06/01/2003
Red Sox fans have hard hearts. To listen 2, "they havent won a world series in such a long time", and "the Yankees have won so much more world series than they have" and "the curse" over and over again, is really bad. Anyone can route for a team that wins all the time, so I tip my hat to all the redsox fans out there.
tj92101 05/23/2003
Larry Luchino reminds me of the perpetual bridesmaid.....pretty enough to get invited to the wedding, but ugly enough not to be the bride!!!
mijimicah 04/23/2003
How the hell can a team that hasn't won a championship since 1918 be #1 on this list? They do have a rich history, but it usually involves choking on a splinter from Babe Ruth's bat.
President -X-D 04/07/2003
High payroll, crappy team. Looks like another disappointing season for Red Sox fan since this team's bullpen stinks. 1918 called; they want their trophy back.
CanadaSucks 04/06/2003
Red Sox fans are some of the most cerebral and loyal fans I've ever met. . .but they are a little neurotic in their own special way. They DO know their baseball. . .but the Red Sox are a greek tragedy on the diamond. . .always a bridesmaid. Having said that, this is a famous team in the history of baseball and they should be respected like any cornerstone franchises. And how about Fenway?
BIGBABY 04/06/2003
The Boston Red Sox are a really good team with many worthy players. They have Manny, Nomar, as well as other highly regarded names in baseball. They always start off really good but turn to garbage late in July/ early August. You can't blame them for losing, though, they've been cursed. 5 stars becuase Im loyal.
andyjay 04/05/2003
Red Sox fans pratically define the antithesis of "fairweather fans". Here is a team that hasn't won the World Series since 1918, but often gets pretty close, so it's obvious they have SOME talent. And their fans will always remain loyal through thick and thin. The "every dog has his day" law stipulates that one day the Bosox will win the Series; I mean, look who won the last two Series. It wasn't the Yanks. When that day comes, be it sooner or later, a legion of new bandwagon fans will come out of the woodwork, likely people who were joking about how sucky the Bosox were a year before. Meanwhile the true believers who were with the Fenway Gang all along will know they had been right. Go Sox!
toothdr 04/05/2003
This team has broken my heart for the past 50 years, yet I still return to watch one of the most exciting, inspired teams in major league baseball. This (2003) is the year!!
angusmacpherso n 04/03/2003
Fierce rival with the damn Yankees? Good enough for me!
