So much better than MySpace. Better privacy settings, better per-app privacy settings, NO ANNOYING GODAWFUL COLORS AND BACKGROUNDS that render pages unreadable, great time killer, total time waster. The only thing with Facebook is that they keep redesigning their site, which wouldn't be bad at all, if they didn't break things in the rush to push those changes live. Luckily, they have a large enough user base now that when things break, they're pretty quick to get them UNbroken.

Don't have much use for facebook. I don't need to track friends. They are easily accessible to me already.
Angelique-249 03/20/2009
I do not like that they ask for access to me Email account. I'll add my own contacts thank you.

my favorite social network site. facebook answers everything that i ever wanted from a social network site, it's complete in feature, it's tidy, it has clean design, interactive and all that. could be confusing when explore it for the first time but once you get to know the site it couldn't be any easier.

In the few days i have been on this site, i have reconnected with several school mates, and found family and friends that i haven't spoken with in years. A great site to find ppl from your past :)

myspace's biggest competitor. Personally I get sick of hearing about both of them.
fhzwart 03/10/2009
I love facebook and probably spend way too much time logged on. I keep track of my friends and have been able to contact some that I haven't seen since high school. Good site to network and communicate to your network.

Now as much as I loathe myspace, facebook is my savior. The networking part is easy. The layout is clean and simple. Uploading photos is much simpler and you can put up as many as you want. The news feed feature was a little creepy at first, but as long as you aren't reading every single thing all your friends do I would say you're safe. There are not as many annoying pre-teens on facebook either. Probably because you cant add songs and annoying sparkly glitter graphics to your profile....

This is a cool site, I like being able to see what college friends are up to, and also there are tons of cool applications and game added all the time, so it's a fun way to pass some time.
anmar1027 02/27/2009
This is a great place. You don't have to worry about constantly changing your background or hidding things. It's a fun site that even lets you IM without having to download things. It keeps you updated on what your friends are doing.

So far, I've enjoyed Facebook since being invited to join a few months ago. I've even hooked up with some people I haven't seen or heard from in decades. I could see it having some drawbacks though. For instance; do you really want everyone you have ever known (or would at least feel okay to include as a "friend") in the same soup bowl with everyone else you know? Is it always a good idea? I don't know about everyone but, my friends, relatives and acquaintances pretty much run the gamut from way more conservative than I'll ever be to over the top dyed in the wool liberals. It's just kind of surreal to think of the mixture...and, yet, it does have the potential to be kind of entertaining on some level too. It’s certainly a study in the varieties of human nature if nothing else.

It is way too complex for me. I made a random fake account about 2 years ago, ignored it, and I have wracked up hundreds of emails saying "YOU HAVE A SECRET ADMIRER OMFG ROFL!!!!". It is so freaking annoying. Myspace is way better, unfortunately I am losing friends from Myspace who switch to Facebook. I will never ever make a real Facebook account, EVER.

supper, 5 stars clean site making money like never before and more from it to come
jedi58 01/14/2009
it's a fun site, though it is getting over-run by pointless applications. There are some good design aspects too, but for the few bad aspects of the design I've decided to be mean and give it 4 stars (thinking of the Facebook IM... it's not that good)

Giving them credit for some of their tools like the slider and the "show less" and "show more" from individuals. So among "social networking companies" give them credit for building and attracting critical mass. Now for the cynical. Do you really need any third party app to declare that the person that you already send email to is your "friend"? All the email providers should have (and then these guys should have: Plaxo, LinkedIn, boxbe, and xobni does this) just rated communication strength based on frequency and response and then tie in any sort of extended relationship code if people want to search and add dormant or broken connections. The most frustrating thing for all of us users is that we still don't have an ideal communication filter (just starting with email) despite all this activity and hype.

Never got facebook. I know I am missing something, but find it intrusive, not intuitive and not particularly useful. I know my view is a minority.
Erinlove 01/12/2009
The less of two evils, between MySpace and Facebook, I use Facebook. I liked to play games and turn my fake money into real money to give to charity.... Less strangers insist they are your friend.... The downside is people from high school find you. They are the only ones that remember when you wore platforms and had acne. Or any other goofy phase you do not wish to relive... You are sitting there a confident adult, then the biggest bully from school wants to add you... Then BAM! you almost can smell the cafeteria french fries that got whipped at you in grade nine..

It is alright but not as good looking as MySpace... less features like music players.

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is because it's so freaking addicting.
