It doesn't make Bush any less of a liar.

Being a president of the USA, you WILL lie- -you are paid to lie, so it is nothing to them, so there is no need to point at any president, pray for them-all you can do.

Two points; first of all Bill Clinton's crime's and misdemeanors related largely to his private sexual affairs. Reprehensible though they may have been, they were no more the nation's business than the issue of what drugs and alcohol George W. Bush imbibed as a young man. Second, Bill Clinton's lies didn't result in thousands of people being killed and wounded in far off lands.

How do I justify what? You justify calling someone a liar by proving they lied. Partisan accusations between the two political parties say nothing about lying. In fact even if Bill Clinton lied 10 times more frequently than any other presedent including G. W. Bush, Bush could still be considered a liar under the definition of the word. Both lied, both are liars. Welcome to politics.

It's not necessarily that Clinton lied while in office, (Politicians lie! What a newsflash!) or even that he lied under oath. It's the fact that Clinton said some of the same things Bush has said, but Bush is a liar. Example...Ten years ago, Clinton said there would be a problem with Social Security if something weren't done. Democrats agreed. They then stuck thier collective thumbs in their collective butts and did nothing. Bush takes office, says there's going to be a problem with Social Security, let's fix it. The same Democrats now say there's nothing wrong with Social Security and Bush is misleading people. Oh, and you can apply this to WMDs too, so save it.***Excuse me...pardon me...reality coming through. Clinton lied about more than his affairs. A huge one, and one everybody seems to forget, is that little thing about selling military secrets to China. It was pretty stupid then, and looks like a REAL good idea now, doesn't it?

The only thing Clinton lied about was his affairs, which do not affect the fate of our country, Bush, on the other hand, has lied to us about a great deal of things, the country isn't going to have it's unemployment rates raised, go to a useless war and get it's environment massacred just because Clinton had an affair with a woman other than his wife.

lie to me about your sex life please, because i don't want to know...at all. Don't lie to me about my family and friends going to put their lives on the line because that's a little bit more important, don't you think? **update, say what you want about bill clinton but you people sound absolutley crazy when you say things like if he hadn't been paying attention to the intern. do you guys not have sex? Does it prevent you from living a productive life? Bill Clinton did not devote all of his time to Monica, give me a freaking break.

I criticized Clinton as well when I didn't agree with him. Even though I lean far from Conservative I have yet to see a Dempcrat President that was perfect and did everything right. I just happen to think that our current President is far more inept and corrupt than other Presidents. Update: Kate, I'd be willing to bet that the families of the 3000 who died on 9/11 disagree that Bush is doing good by letting Bin Laden go free and instead chasing after someone who never attacked our country. The Saudi government not only was NEVER held accountable for their part in sponsoring terrorism, but instead Bush has them over to the ranch for a freakin BBQ. Sorry, but I fail to see the good in that. I also find it amusing that those who feel strongly about helping the poor Iraqis never say squat about the people living in Saudi Arabia. That country is well known for it's human rights abuses. Women aren't even allowed to drive cars over there. But I guess if Bush doesn't include them in the axis of evil then everything is just fine.

Assuming the seemingly general consensus that WMD's are nonexsistent in Iraq, one would still have to explain how someone lies when they are not doing it intentionally and with the knowledge that the information they are giving is incorrect. Bill, on the other hand, knew fully well what he did and lied under oath and to the American people. Those who seek to trivalize Bill Clinton's sexual escapades seem to conviently forget about a series of other suspicious practices. Remember the massive firing of White House travel office staffers? Remember the White House taking hundreds of personnel files without asking for the permisson of the individuals they referred to? Remember how the Democrats accepted campaign contributions from the Chinese government? Remember how Clinton pardoned FALN members, Mach Rich and countless of other white collar criminals who were closely associated with him? Remember Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick and Paula Jones? Clinton's corruption is much more extensive than simply a fling resulting from a sexually overdriven president.

Update: To Jay, with all due respect, I most heartily disagree with you. Clinton may have been negligent in not involving himself in Africa (as well as being a male 'hoe', if you will), but America has never really been much interested in Africa, ever. Wholesale murder, slavery, famine, and atrocities are, unfortunately, all too common throughout Africa's history (Idi Amin, the Congo, Ethiopia, Liberia, South Africa, etc.). We don't involve ourselves over there more because our interests are limited as opposed to the Middle East. Bush would've kicked some ass? Doubtful. I agree that morally it would be nice if we went into oppressive countries the world over and consistently tried to do the right thing, but we don't. Morality has nothing (or, being charitable here, little) to do with it. We condemn Castro because he's a Communist, but we wholeheartedly supported Papa Doc Duvalier in Haiti throughout his oppressive, murderous career. Where is there any moral consistency? The truth is, there is none. It comes down to realpolitik and not morality. Yeah, Sadaam was a monster, but he was as much a monster during all those years we supported him. We've historically always been willing to support murderous dictators and regimes when it's of perceived benefit to our own interests (business and/or political).---I agree absolutely with CanadaSucks on this one. What in the name of God has happened to our moral conscience? Somewhere between Watergate and Iran-Contra, it seemingly evaporated. I was never Clinton's biggest fan, and I'm still not, but people really have the stones to equate a backroom bl**job with what's going on in Iraq? Are you kidding? We were blatantly, shamelessly, callously lied to about WMD's in order to involve us in this debacle, and as people die every single day (Iraqis and Americans both), with no end in sight, we're still being lied to. The so-called party of fiscal-responsibility has squandered billions of dollars on this fiasco...again, with no end in sight. Osama Bin Laden has become a forgotten man, wandering about in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan, assuredly relishing his continued freedom and immunity, thanks be to George. And instead of rising up in righteous indignation and rage, a large portion of the American populace continues to meander about like tamed, complacent sheep, watching the TV news reports on Michael Jackson's trial and Runaway Bride and Bill O'Reilly's ire about rap lyrics. All the death and carnage and waste vs. lying about a bl**job? There's some sort of moral equivalency there? You sometimes have to wonder what George would have to do before people awoke from their coma (like the Republican fantasy about Teri Schiavo) and became enraged en masse. Spend a weekend with Michael at Neverland Ranch? Cheat on his perpetually-smiling, robotic wife with some intern floozy? Announce that he's had an epiphany and now worships Allah instead of Jesus?

At the risk of causing a collective heart attack amongst our left-leaning contingent, I seek to ascertain the common ground of generally-accepted truth on this topic. Since we know (and you can apply your own scale of importance to it) that President Clinton lied: 1). under oath in a civil lawsuit, 2). to the camera, addressing the American people, someone please provide one example of a verifiable (or verified) lie told by Bush. WMD's is not an acceptable example, as such reliable, truth-telling stalwarts as Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and every other US politician believed that to be true at the time. But the accusation of lying is not (usually) taken lightly, and should not be. I think most of the hatred of Bush is ideological and policy-related. The he lied mantra is more expedient than explaining why you don't like his platform. But, if anyone has a verifiable example, I'd like to read what YOU consider a legitimate lie told by an American politician.

No..it wasn't the Monica(and other hoes thing). Among other things, the film Hotel Rwanda, made clear that Clinton was responsible for doing nothing and claiming nuthin' was happenin' in Rwanda, while mass murder was taking place. After he left office,he apologized. It is inconceivable that Bush would've allowed thugs with machetes to murder hundreds of thousands, without goin' in an' kickin' some ass.

Bush hasn't told the truth to us about the war and it has cost thousands of lives. He's kept secrets and deceived us about weapons of mass destructions and had lied about uniting both Democrats and Republicans. He's done nothing to unite this country. It's so divided. As for Clinton, his lying about the Lewinsky thing wasn't a huge important matter. It was a personal issue that didn't hurt us Americans.

Lies about blowj@bs versus lies about the deaths of 9+ thousand of Iraqi civilians? Sure, sleep well at night with your own conscience if you don't think there's a difference. . . Job market sucks, oil prices suck, medical insurance premiums suck, international relations suck, the war sucks. . .Republicans have got to get over the fact that the 90's under slick-lying Billy kicked ass.

The rest of the folks on here pretty much summed it up. How anyone could equate lying about a bj with someone lying in order to get us to go to war with Iraq is beyond me. HMmmm, just doesn't seem to have the same weight does it?

I justify it because so far, 1600 + people have died because of Bush's lies, and no one (to the best of my knowledge) died because of Clinton. And then there's the fact that politicians, as a whole, lie to us all the time. It's the results of the lies I think we're all reacting to on this one. Last time I checked, we still don't have a plan for extricating ourselves from the mess that Bush's lies have landed us in.

Clinton lied but, no one died... Well, maybe a couple people, but really, it wasn't a big deal..... Not compared to the lies this maniacal little demon and his traitorous minions, perpatrated on us to get us into this winless, stupid war.
