 | ??Cookie?? (0) 06/24/2008 | rats are good pets although some people can't see it, they are neat to watch and they are very smart, what they eat may not be apealing to some people it also is a little expensive, also guests in your home might not like these "rodents".

 | twansalem (36) 06/24/2008 | I suppose they could make an OK pet for some people, but I'd never want one.

 | cyclee (18) 06/23/2008 | I have always found rodents quite cute. Other than they may carry some diseases, I really would love to have one. One of my co-workers had experience with pet rats before, and he told me they're just as affectionate as house cats. If I can just get my hand on one of the disease free rats, I may consider having it as a pet, and my cats will certainly welcome the idea.

 | yesmike10 (0) 04/24/2008 | rats make amazing pets : they cuddle, are intelligent, and NEVER bite!!! Easy to care for and fun to play with (mine even can be called by name - try and do that with a hamster or mouse)

 | Casey1334 (0) 03/14/2007 | They're the best pet rodent you can have. It's funny that gerbils and hamsters are so much more popular.. Even though rats like people more, are much less likely to bite, and are so intelligent. I've had a few pet rats before, and they're great. They just don't live all that long. It's funny, because i have a pet snake now(who i have to feed rodents to).. but i still love rats.

 | puppyloverkb (18) 01/05/2007 | People that have been reviewing in this section seem very nieve. The rats sold as pets are not "disease ridden" and definetley do not carry the Bubonic Plague. They, like cats, dogs, and rabbits are breed to be pets and from everything that I've heard pretty good ones too. I really don't have that much info on them as pets, since I've never had one and never will have one. ( I just can't get past the tail thing) But I encourage those considering a pet for their child to consider a rat as a pet. Until i came to these "reviews" on rats, I had heard nothing but positive things on rats as pets. Again, the reason for the three rating is because of the tail thing.

 | LastMessenger3 (40) 08/08/2006 | I am affraid of mice and rats more than I'm affraid of the snakes. The moment I'll see rat will be the moment I'll be hanging down from the chandelier.

 | AlaskanBred (0) 08/13/2005 | rats are very compassionate and loving. the only problem is their 3 year lifespan =(

 | Dobegrl (1) 07/15/2005 | Excellent pets. Low maintenance. Highly intelligent. They do require socialization to make sure they stay happy and friendly. I wish more people would purchase rats for their kids first pet rather than hamsters, as hamsters don't particularly like to be held and played with whereas rats love people (IF handled and purchased very young) and can be taught to do tricks and can learn their name. The only problem I have ever had with owning rats is a PR (public relations) problem. Lots of people don't like and don't understand rats (I think its that tail!). I was the same way at first until I met and got to know one. Now I am hooked!
