Cindy Sheehan isn't questioning the government for the betterment of her fellow citizens! She is a self centered hag who didn't give a DARN about her son when he was alive and is exploiting his death to gain notority and political power!

Her behavior totally discredits her.  There are better ways to handle your grief and certainly better ways to make change.  She just makes herself look like a lunatic- who would take her seriously?

UPDATE: I generally support her position on the Iraq War; however, she is so unlikable, that sometimes she makes me inclined to support the crowd who wants to carpet bomb Basra.

PREVIOUS COMMENTS: She is not a leader, not smart and not likable, but she was the spark that finally set off the anti-war movement against this brainless Iraq adventure. I thought that the anti-war movement died somewhere between Dean's primal scream and Kerry's feckless, worthless race.

Today 12/11/05 we note the death of Eugene McCarthy who also kick-started the anti-war campaign that brought down a President and started the American withdrawal from the worthless Viet Nam adventure.

Sometimes history turns on previously little known little people.

The loss of a child does not make it acceptable to commit subversive acts against your government.

At first I felt sorry for her.I still do.After all,it is hard to lose your son for any reason. But when I heard her making anti American comments and hamming it up with Revs.Jackson and Sharpton not to mention Michael Moore, well, then I realized that her complaints had little to do with her brave son,(who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice so that jerks like me can be free to lead our lives) and a lot to do with a whole other agenda. With her spouting of '60s slogans, her irritating personality and overall persona, she is not even a good spokeswoman for the anti war movement.

I really sympathize with her loss of her son in the Iraq War, but there are hundreds of other mothers who have lost sons in the war but they are not grandstanding like she is. The woman apparently loves attention and yearns to be a celebrity. She's made her point, so she needs to shut up already!

If only there were more like her in this country who had the balls to stand up and challenge the BS the current administration is forcing on us...hope she's in "W's" nightmares the rest of his life.

I guess its her way of dealing with the loss of her son but I have to wonder how he would feel if he knew what she was doing. If you are going to join the military you have to face the fact that you may be called to fight a war and no one is going to ask if you agree or diagree. The military is not a democracy you can not chose who you will or will not fight. Cindy should be ashamed of herself, instead of being negative she should be doing something positive to support the troops. Her son gave is life for our country and her actions can help to try and diminish this brave young man's legacy.

This woman is doing a great disservice to her son by using his death as an anti-war platform. It's understandable to be sad at the fact that your son died, but please, spare us your diatribes; you're doing a disservice to your son and your country.

Thomas Jefferson warned, When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. Considering the times we live in today, Jefferson proved to be quite the visionary. Questioning ones government does not equate to treason.

Anyone ought to sympathize over the death of Cindy Sheehan's son, Casey. However, Casey made his own decision to enter the military. And he made the ultimate sacrifice in serving his country. However, Sheehan does not speak for all military families who have also lost loved ones. Yet, as tragic as Sheehan's son's story is (as well for any brave soldier who has lost his/her life), her latest escapade in protesting the Blue Angels calls into question her real motives. It is understandable that she mourns her son, and rightfully so. But Sheehan has gone beyond that in that she seems to be protesting anything even remotely military, and for the men and women who serve proudly, it sends the wrong message to them (in that they are not appreciated).

It's true that Ms. Sheehan is being used as a propaganda tool, in the same way the Republicans used Terri Schiavo and Jessica Lynch. It's also true that thousands of lives have been lost in Iraq already, and it doesn't appear that the end is anywhere in sight. On Sunday, 5 American soldiers were killed, which didn't attract anywhere near the attention that the Natalee Holloway case has. Where's the outrage? It seems to have been reserved for Ms. Sheehan. The eminent Fred Barnes called her a left-wing looney. Drug-addict Rush Limbaugh asserted that she never actually lost a son in Iraq. Bush is in a no-win situation as far as she is concerned, and it would certainly be detrimental to his own interests for him to meet with her, but when did he or his people ever give a s**t about the opinion of other people or the lives of their children?

I am very sorry that this woman lost her son. BUT, why would the President meet with this shrill woman? If she wants to meet with him, becoming a puppet of Moveon.org is no way to go about it. GWB did not kill her son. The Islamic extremist of a country that supports those who behead civilians, support a dictator that had rape rooms and gases his own people, yeah- those guys, killed her son. In the meantime of her protest, her mother is ill and her husband has filed for divorce. Of course she is suffering a horrific grieving process, how could she not? But, I think ultimately she will suffer a lot more by these actions rather than celebrating her son's life, bravery, and the freedoms we have in the US that allow her to have this protest without fear for her life. That is why her son died. If she were a woman living in Iraq two years ago attempting the same action . . .I don't think I have to finish my sentance.

Obviously this woman, and the people that are camped with her are blind to the facts at hand. During one news clip, I saw a banner that read Blood for Oil. If that's the case, why is gas so expensive? These loser's should go back to Seattle and their Starbucks and granola bars!

All I know is my mom wouldn't have acted the way this lady is acting if I bit it. This crazy, grief stricken woman probably didn't give a second thought to anybody in Iraq with the exception of her son and still doesn't care about anybody except her son. She has needlessly gone public with her pain and is stupid enough to let various people use her to further their agenda. I'm sure her son is proud.

She very well may not be a 15 minute of fame celebrity, as the fervor for an anti-war leader is very strong (apparently) among the liberal press outlets. She may have found a publicity niche that could easily last several years. Have not over 1,800 soldiers been killed? Why are there not 2,000 additional parents of soldiers killed joining her? Why are not even 250? Why are there only around (generously) 100 additional protesters who have joined her? My opinion is that she speaks for herself. Period. Her family members have implored her to stop and go home. She won't do that until the camera crews are gone and tell her that they won't be back. Then, she'll quietly pack up, go home and try to deal with the grief she is postponing now. I'm not upset with her, she is simply a sincere, unwitting pawn to a very shameful group of people with a detrimental agenda, surprisingly common among American journalists. Are Americans upset with the lack of progress in Iraq? No question. Do a majority favor pulling out? No chance. Most Americans (and, I suspect, most Europeans) realize that an American pullout would be disastrous. But, you won't see the question of support for pulling out in any polls. It wouldn't be news that Americans favor staying the course but demand progress.

Sheehan certainly doesn't represent every grieving parent of a troop murdered in Iraq, but she provides a powerful voice to some of the growing frustration. Does her pain deserve continuing headlines? Probably not, though she does deserve sympathy and a support system. There are many stories and faces we should remember from the Iraq War, and she is one of many varying perspectives. Perhaps the fairest thing would be to examine poll results of many parents with sons and daughters killed in Iraq (or currently at risk), to understand collective sentiments about our actions in Iraq and whether Sheehan represents a decent number of their voices.

Talk about an awkward situation. A grieving mother should have some sort of amnesty from people judging her, but at the same time, at least at some level, she seems to be using the loss of her son to promote her political viewpoint. I really don't know how to call this one. I would certainly be devestated if I lost a loved one in Iraq, and would certainly feel entitled to an explanation. Stuff like the importance of Securing Fallujah or Spreading Democracy would probably sound pretty hollow to me as a justification. But taking the protest as far as Cindy Sheehan has taken it seems to be a little self serving... One thing I'm sure about is that President Bush's perspective, he absolutely should not meet with this lady. Nothing he can say will change her mind, and he would be setting an awful precedent. Tough situation.
