Overpriced slop with plenty of salt and spices to make you buy more overpriced drinks.
jenken47 04/08/2005
I love their chips and salsa and they make a mean margarita!
perfectsona 04/06/2005

southwestern fare not bad at all. seems a bit pricey for casual dining in my opinion.

You're both wrong, it's spelled chillyz (or is it spelled CHILE's (our specialty Chilian Sea Bass -- I want my baby bass, baby bass, baby bass, baby bass...I want my baby bass, baby bass, baby bass, baby bass

I work for Chili's and I've been with them for 7 years, therefore I tend to defend them very viciously! For one, Chili's is one of the few restaurants I will eat in because I KNOW how sanitary everything is! Someone said something about doing full hands in, full hands out, which is absolutely correct. However, you're supposed to use the hand wash sinks (located IN the dish area) to wash hands thorougly before you touch dishes; I guess that person didn't pay attention during training! I know the cooks are extemely sanitary and very competant. Sometimes the food may be cooked too much or not enough for each person, but can you imagine cooking for hundreds of people, with their different preferences? Try to make everyone happy! That won't ever happen! There are also several reviews here which mention items that Chili's does NOT make, and has NEVER made! I suggest that people get their information straight before leaving a negative rating in a public forum. Chili's is a wonderful place to dine, work, and relax.

i'm not much for chain restaurants but i recently went here w/my in-laws. two for one beer deals and a mighty fine hamburger. if someone mentions Chili's to me, i wont complain.
sfalconer 12/16/2004
Lots of food and fair prices, very popular so you can usually expect a wait. Tex/Mex south western but they are really known for their ribs which for me was kind of a let down as there was little sauce.
Gy-rater 12/07/2004
Chilis originally introduced me to Fajitas many years ago and I still like theirs better than just about anyone else's. They have a number of other wonderful dishes too, and the value is good. Service is usually excellent (although I have been to one or two here and there that were mediocre at best) and they are worth visiting for reliably good results. Not a good choice on weekends - waiting for 45-60 minutes for any chain restaurant's food is stupid!
PRstate51lady 11/24/2004
My goodness it is always full!!! Puerto Rico ha`s become a Chili's freak! I personally love their pasta with alfredo sauce...and of course who can leave the place without dessert...apple cinnamon delight, my favorite.
oscarboy 11/17/2004
incredible fajitas!
mommyofsix 09/22/2004
Gotta give them credit, they have the best chips and salsa going and they are bottomless!! Their food is good. However do not care for their pasta, it is always overcooked when I order it so gave up on that. Would recommend their Chicken fingers, they are yummy!!
WarGamefan93 09/12/2004
Good place. Even though the food isn't authentic. I love their ribs an chicken. I have more to say, but no discription.
Doctor of Madness 07/29/2004
One of my favorites. Funny though, the chili isn't very good.

This was by far the most discusting sit down restaurant I have ever eaten in. I am constantly shocked when I hear people talking favorable about this place. Perhaps it was the location rather than the whole chain itself but I found the food to be bland, the rice tastes as if its sat in a pot all day long and they give you way too much of it, and the other foods were all greasy AND bland. Yuck. The waitstaff was fine and so was the environment but if the food is this crappy its a waste of my money no matter how decently priced they are. I will never ever go back to one of these restaurants. I will eagerly pay higher prices for Chevy's to have good food instead of wasting it here.
torch 07/19/2004
(most of the dish staff is illegal.) That's enough for me. I'll never enter their restaurants again!
VirileVagabond 04/06/2004
For what it is, Chili's Bar & Grill is a decent to good place to eat. The atmosphere is loud, yet pleasant and active, and the food is relatively inexpensive, good and filling. The burgers are my normal fare as well as the Awesome Blossom; however, the comments here regarding the sanitation do concern me.
topofthemuffin 2u 04/03/2004
Always have had excellent food!
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
Awful. Every experience I've had there has been forgettable and a waste of my life.

I loved their food until I worked there (for 2 weeks). I found out way too much about how they have their servers handle clean dishes with dirty hands. The policy was: "full hands in, full hands out." So, this meant that after we cleared a table & took the dirty dishes to the dish washing area, we couldn't leave the area without grabbing a stack of clean dishes (to keep the cooks stocked). TWICE I was repremanded for washing my hands before returning to get clean dishes!!! So, this often meant that BBQ sauce, & who knows what else was getting on the clean dishes -- via our dirty hands! I rarely eat Chili's now, & if I do, I only get take-out!! They don't use the dishes for take-out!!

Delicious food

I've eaten at Chili's about four or five times over the past 8 years in several different locations and each time in each location the experience was the same - bad. The food was not good (I've had the burger, a Jack Daniels steak [my most recent entree], and that stinking onion thing), service was horrible and the atmosphere is the same old tired "neighborhood" crap that everyone else has.

Baby-back ribs and a cold Sam Adams Light... need I say more?
kamylienne 05/13/2003
They have awesome fried shrimp there, and I love their fried onion. They've got a pretty good selection, fair prices, and I never had a negative experience with the people there. Fairly nice.
RebelYell1861 05/05/2003
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Redoedo 05/02/2003
I've been to Chili's a few times and it never really has left a good impression on me. I really could care less if I ever went there again. The first time, my chicken strips were so tough it was ridiculous. The second time was even worse, when I had to send my grilled chicken back twice because it was undercooked. To make matters worse, they brought it back out and it was nearly charbroiled. Chili's is mediocre at best, and I really would not reccomend it to anyone.
jpdols 05/01/2003
Applebee's, Chili's, Bennigan's, Ruby Tuesday, Friday's..... Aren't these the same restaurant? It's all the same bland crap.
frozen_20 04/26/2003
It's ok, they do have some decently healthy menu items.
BEBEBLOO 04/15/2003
I absolutely love Chili's, the one that I always went to closed :(!!! I was so upset. what I would give for a Triple Play!!!
Tsukiakiko 03/25/2003
Good burgers.
Toire 02/07/2003
Pro's: 1. Decent Priced 2. Love their soups, especially the Chicken Enchilada Soup. 3. Most often prompt service. 4. Great Pick-up options. 5. Wide selection, from trendy to seafood to burgers to etc...
uncgradstudnt 01/18/2003
I met my husband at Chili's. He was a cook and I was a waitress, both in college. He used to throw croutons at me across the line...oh yeah, he made a great chicken sand. The food's pretty processed and most of the dish staff is illegal. Take it for what its worth.
lukskywlkr. 11/01/2002
Don't eat there too often, but I've never had less than an excellent meal there.
Damifino 07/02/2002
Not bad. For a Tex-Mex kind of place, there seem to be too many deep-fat fried foods on the menu. But the overall selection is good, and the salads make up for the cholesterol...
The Waffler 10/24/2001
Chili's, ba ha ha ha! I applied for a job at Chili's and they ripped me off! Said I was hired but NEVER HIRED ME...very bad experience...ended up working at Valentino's...I don't work there anymore aha hah hahaha ha...anyway, back to Chili's...they are bad. Bad food, just another chain restaurant that no one should care about because chains are so generic. Get a life! Eat somewhere that isn't a chain!
Lily P 09/04/2001
I was highly disappointed both times I went to Chili's. The first time I got the steak fajita and was less than thrilled. I cant believe someone could mess up one of my favorite dishes. The 2nd time I went I realized that nothing else on the menu appealed to me, so I ate appetizers.
afterglow70 06/20/2001
There is a chicken sandwich there that is out of this world. It has bean spouts and swiss cheese on it. It is some kind of mesquite flavor. It is great!
e2bug 06/02/2001
Steak Fajita's on a sizzlin plate! If you leave this place hungry or unsatisfied, it's your own fault! Good middle of the road place with a good atmosphere for chowin down and having a few laughs.
nashoba 06/02/2001
Good food, but a little pricey!
Dino 04/08/2001
Pretty good Tex Mex, and the servings are large enough to take home some. I like the sombreros as a gift for birthdays, and the saguaro cookie in the ice cream sundae ! Music is too loud, though
callmetootie 04/06/2001
Chili's Grill and Bar is a place that can be enjoyable if you're in the mood for very spicy, powerful food. It is extremly authentic and real tasting. The service is bad, but that's not thier fault. It's the customers in the bathroom that cause this problem.
Al-Davis-Lives! 12/22/2000
When we were in college, and wanted to treat ourselves, we'd head to Chili's and order chicken ceasar salad followed by the brownie sundae. It tasted pretty good then maybe because we were comparing it to dorm food. I had dinner there recently for the first time in about five years, and realized the food was really very average. Oh well.
alicat 12/19/2000
I don't know what makes my mouth water more, the Baby Back Ribs commercial or the thought of an Awesome Blossom (if you don't know what an Awesome Blossom is, I feel very sorry for you. The best way to describe it is, it is a HUGE onion ring that you get to pull apart.). What better place to take a family that can't agree on what type of food to get? Chili's has everything. They have salads, steak, ribs, mexican type fair, and great appetizers. Sometimes it can get exhausting trying to please everyone in a group and Chili's is the solution. The food is not gourmet but it is still really good. You get big portions and fast service. It is the kind of place I get cravings for.

A friend of mine absolutely loves Chili's, loves it. Once he sent me an E-mail asking if I could find out what it would take to open a franchise in his town, (it takes a lot) that's the extent of his liking. I had never been and finally about 5 months ago I decided to give it a whirl. Disappointing is how I would probably describe it. First I should say I really don't care for these big chain restaurants and so that was certainly a strike against them to begin with. I just can't understand why someone would go and wait in one of these places for 45 minutes to eat such mass produced food, in an overcrowded environment?! So, we go, we eat, and the food isn't bad but just not an overall pleasant dining experience especially when you get the bill and for the same amount of money I discovered I could have had a better dinner in a restaurant I really like in a much quieter, personable setting.
Shroomwoman 10/25/2000
Nothing really stands out about Chili's. I usually go there when I'm in a hurry and don't have many other choices, but it's always just fine. The food is average, although the portions are quite generous. I've had the veggie tacos, the Caribbean chicken salad, and the lettuce wraps, which were all satisfactory, but nothing has been outstanding. (I should mention, though, that the iced tea is terrible, and I avoid it like the plague!) The service is generally good, and I really like the roomy booths and the way the restaurant is decorated. Overall, Chili's is just an average restaurant, but I don't mind eating there every now and then.
nbas696du 12/01/1999
Nothing is good at Chili's except that onion thing, and you can get it at several different places these days so there is no need to ever set foot in a Chili's.
magellan 11/14/1999
Devastatingly peppy wait staff.
