Don't know why not rating this multi-award winning picture (perhaps director Richard Fleischer's best) a fifth star here troubles me. There are Dean Stockwell and Bradford Dillman very as the Leopold and Loeb characters but, very especially, there is Orson Welles as the Clarence Darrow defense attorney. Not surprisingly (for me), Bill Mellor's exceptional black and white widescreen cinematography is a prime asset, from the title sequence onwards.
