Kudos to the rater who had a quibble about Outback being overrun with loud families. . .but Outback is still a safe bet for me when I travel. Decent steaks, okay servive, good food. . .you know what you're getting. A solid franchise.

Definately the best sit-in restaurant I've ever been to. Beats Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, and Chili's hands down! I always get the No Rules burger with bacon, cheese, and BBQ sauce. Very delicious. The fries that come with the burger are very tasty, too. The portions are a tad large and I often have to bring it home to finish it! The service is pretty good for the most part, as the people can seat you quickly no matter the crowd. The only thing I don't like about the Outback is that the parking at my local restaurant is absolutely horrible, but that can be overlooked because of the awesome food! I've also tried the Curbside Takeaway and is a good alternative to eating in if you so desire.

I am more of a sea food and chicken person but I often like a steak. I found that when I went here 2 times my meat was raw even after I said medium to well done. It was medium rare. I was left to starve waiting for 15 or 20 min to get my steak back. I heard that someone kept sending there meat back too for rawness and someone saw the waitress throw the meat on the floor after it was cooked again. GROSS! Its all very greasy too. the meat flavor is not bad but you have to ask for well done to get medium and also the meat is kind of thick. Its always croweded and a 45 min wait or more and its not worth the wait!

Rates a 3 with me. Nothing wow or bad about it.
texasyankee 08/10/2005
Not my choice of a good steakhouse. Family oriented, so good when I bring my noisy bunch; they just blend in but for a romantic meal for 2... much rather go to Texas Land and Cattle. Hehe @ vegan steakhouse.
zuchinibut 08/10/2005
Some of these ratings are quite funny. People actually gave Outback a bad rating because it didn't have any Vegan options, and the portions were too big. Its a steakhouse...it says it in the name...What do you expect. In my opinion Outback is the best of the sitdown casual dining chains. The quality of the food is superior to any Applebees, Bennigans, Chilis, or anything else. Granted...there may be long waits at many of the restaurants, but if you are in a rush, try some place else.

Outback is the greatest restaraunt ever. Let me tell you just a few of the things I know about Outback. They only use USDA Choice beef - meaning it is the BEST possible beef on the market, no exceptions. Yes they are not open for lunch, but that's because dozens and dozens of their foods are being home-made each and every morning. The Aussie chips and Bloomin' Onions are cut fresh every morning, not taken out of a freezer like Applebee's. The soups are homemade, chocolate, croutons, cinnamon pecans - you name it, it's home made starting from scratch. These people put more effort and quality into their foods than any other restaraunt i've ever been to. The chicken and fish are always fresh, never frozen like other restaraunts. For those who are complaining about the price, for the quality and freshness of the foods you are eating it is WELL worth it. Another thing - Outback has smaller section sizes than most restaraunts so that each and every customer will receive quality, attentive service. All I ask is that before you judge such a quality place such as Outback, you should at least know SOMETHING about what you're talking about. This is the best restaraunt I've ever been to, No Rules Just Right Mate! P.S. If you don't like the wait there is CALL AHEAD SEATING - meaning your name is near the top of the wait sheet when you arrive.. Come on people you can wait 15 mintues without starving to death can't you?

Like many things rated on here it is about what the individual is looking for. Outbacks are very consistant, offering very good steaks, chowders, etc. You will pay a decent price but it is always a very good meal. The downside is there is always a hlaf hour to hour wait.
dragonman 06/15/2005
A nice fun australian atmosphere and good steaks and side dishes. I always enjoy my visit at The Outback.
OldOne 05/22/2005
Reliably good food. I've found that items other than beef are usually the best deals. Often noisy, so it's good off-hours when crowds are less.
Randyman 05/15/2005
Not bad. Not that good. But not bad. C+ UPDATE: I'm going to change my rating froma three to a five. A couple of weeks ago we had a small dinner party for my mother's 76th birthday at Outback's and along with my perfectly cooked (medium rare) Porterhouse Steak, I also had to eat my words. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dinners. My son in law and daughter both ordered Prime Rib and it was cooked to perfection. On the basis of that great meal I'm corecting my earlier review.
yasmeen19 05/15/2005
I was there last with my co-workers..all models from Soho. I had the Jackeroo Chops--two 8-ounce center cut pork chops served with cinnamon apples and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Gorgeous meat! I have also tried their steak. The meat is just rich and done right! Great for casual dining!
Djahuti 04/29/2005
A good ol' Ripoff.
jenken47 04/08/2005
Too high priced for my blood!
nhhcguy1977 03/31/2005
Outback sucks!
stantheman86 03/20/2005
The bloomin' onion (and the delich' sauce) and the steaks (so savory) are WELL WORTH THE MONEY! How 'bout them bones, matey!
rrmax 02/13/2005
Salty salty salty
defbean 12/30/2004
Too pricey and the portions are extremely small, we ordered a 1/2 lb of crab legs and got 6 of them (not very big either).
Gy-rater 12/07/2004
Reliable, and decent but nothing overwhelmingly wonderful. Another one of many similar steak houses. Absolutely the same, in many ways, as Lone Star, and also Bugaboo Creek. The Aussie thing is just theiur way of setting themselves apart. Waiting more than 15 minutes to get in here is just stupid and definitely not worth it - there's another place just like it a mile or two away, so why?
jakemr33 11/20/2004
Food is great although a little overrated. The portions are a little on the small side and a tid bit pricey.
Seraph 11/19/2004
This place gets the snub for me for having absolutely no vegan options.
Yobsthead 11/18/2004
Food's OK but pricey for what you get. I didn't care for the large silverware and the service blew. I didn't leave a tip.
Specialboothvi cJr. 11/12/2004
Great, but I don't like waiting 30-45 minutes to be seated
Angeltouch 09/29/2004
No rules - just right. This slogan hits it, plus great service, great food, great values! A wide selection of stakes, delicious desserts and the best tasting bread in town! The salads are fresh with dressing down under, and while you are there you got to try the blooming onion. It melts in your mouth. My favorite place to eat!
LanceRoxas 09/23/2004
Hit or miss depending on the steaks. Prices are good.
fluffytuffy 09/13/2004
I have eaten here a few times, at a couple different places in my area, and always had a good meal, nice steaks each time, pricey however.
fredsdead 09/11/2004
I've worked at Outback on and off for the past 6 years and their food quality is extrememly poor. Employees get 50% and I have never eaten there once after seeing how unclean everything is. If you knew what I know, you would never eat there again.
Vindicator58 07/31/2004
The Outbacks in OKC, Tulsa, Joplin are GREAT! On Northwest Expressway in OKC, the waitresses were really great looking, friendly and the food is great!
samjung23 06/17/2004
Great food, but nothing at all like real Australian food. Try finding a good burger in Australia. I challenge you. I couldn't remember one thing on Outback's menu that was actually served in Oz. Real Australian food is second to terrible. I'm not surprised it's a former English colony. Quick note too; 75% of Australians, even in the Outback, are not like Steve Irwin or Crocodile Dundee. To the guy that says upscale restaurants are more expensive than Outback, yeah you're right, but then again, people who eat in upscale restaurants don't usually patronize Outback! Genius. Different market. Great food anyway at Outback. Australia needs more of these restaurants, desperately. There are some in Oz, ironically, btw.
jae 06/12/2004
Good consistent food, across the country.
rhumbagirly 06/02/2004
Service is never lacking, great enviroment, and the portions are HUGE!! Definately go with someone you want to share with. Can be pricey for certain items, but is great food!!
Mr Evangel 05/25/2004
Steak is one of my all time favorite things to eat. Steak drenched in A1 sauce is mouth watering. Outback has thee best steak than any other place I have been to. Outback has awesome food! I will admitt I have been there and the service has been shaky at times but hey the food is worth it.
feaw 05/17/2004
I did like the service and food but for the price I wouldn't go back there again. I've eaten and had waaaay better service for less money.
stevesp 05/02/2004
The employees were great, but everything else sucks. The food is tasteless and very greasy. Anything fried is loaded with salt. Your clothes end up smelling like a grease pit when you leave. The only reason they are so busy is because they spend a fortune on advertising. ANY other restaurant would also be as popular if they too also spent a fortune on advertising.
immaGOODgirl4d addi 04/17/2004
Outback steakhouse is my favorite restarunt. It is well worth the money, the wait can be annoying at times but what do you expect from the best restarunt in town?? Whoever thinks outback is bad is out of their mind, all you people can go to your Mcdonald's and enjoy the chicken nuggets.
BugahaNE 04/14/2004
Wow, I cannot believe everyone complaining that Outback is too expensive, that is funny. The house special steak is around 12.99, if anyone knows of a place where you can get a steak dinner for less than this please post it. At more supposedly upscale steak restaurants in my city, steak prices range in the 18.00 to 25.00 range. Everytime I have went the steak has been delicious and so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. If you ever have a rare occasion where it's not cooked correctly, they'll gladly give you another one. If 12.99 is too expensive for you, you need to stick to McDonalds or Village Inn. You could not buy all the items from a supermarket and cook it at home for this price. I go to Outback on the average of once a month, I agree the wait sucks sometimes and the service can be erratic at times, but thats only because it's a hugely popular restaurant.
Carla106 04/13/2004
i only went here one time but, that was surely enough. we ordered that onion thing, and it was so greasy and it didnt taste all that great. i ordered a pasta and chicken dish that was atrocious. the sauce was cold, the pasta was stuck together and the chicken was leathery and had no flavor. this restaurant is a definite no-go.
VirileVagabond 04/10/2004
Outback Steakhouse is a relic of the American fascination with Australia from the 1980's that was fed by Men At Work and Crocodile Dundee. Nevertheless, it remains one of the better restaurants to get a steak dinner. The beef is relatively good, and there are lots of spicy alternatives; however, it is the bread and Blooming Onion that makes this place different, particularly Outback has the best dipping sauce for the onion. On the downside, the wait is terrible, and the chain is not open for lunch (at least the ones I know).
cod cobbler 04/02/2004
Excellent service, excellent prime rib, excellent cesar salad. What's up now?
kinsc2002 03/29/2004
I dont get to go that often because it is so expensive but i often find myself at the take out window getting an blooming onion with out all of the hot spices dip it in ranch dressing and it is all you can ask for .I think they top any resturant, and everytime my husband and i go out that is where we go.
apajax6 03/28/2004
I could live on Outback.
BeatlesfanStev eo 03/27/2004
I think there food is outstanding. The appetizzers are dreamy. The thing I have a problem with is the fact that the restraunts don't seat nearly as much as they should seat. Here is a helpful hint if your willing to get great food great service great atmosphere and you are willing to go to the Outback
Bleh 03/27/2004
I'm basing my entire review on the fact that they have the most annoying commercials in the history of commercials. I would like to smack that fake Aussie accent guy around until he cries. Couldn't they find a true Ozzie to sing the jingle?
kiwichef 03/24/2004
i was trained as a chef in new zealand and love all styles of food.but understand not all food is for everyone.i love the outback steak house for it's steaks and that they are cooked the same everytime.my family and my wife's family love it.
ClassicTVFan47 03/09/2004
BOORING! This place is just like the rest of those slow-food, pseudo-atmospheric, overcharged places. A little bit of bad food for a lot of money with an interminable wait for service. Avoid and just go somewhere good like Chick-Fil-A or Krystal.
chrisk1177 03/09/2004
Awful and expensive.
4real 03/08/2004
Food here is bold but quite tasty. I love to wash down the pasta or chicken dishes with a couple of Fosters. I have never had rude service and this is looking back on many Outback visits in three different states. Yes, I am a fan. It can be noisy, that's true. But I don't go to a No Rules, Just Right place for a quiet dinner by candlelight!
BeanoCook 02/15/2004
One try and fired. Terrible food. My steak was well done on the east side of my sirloin and rare/raw on the west side. I know they were busy but the steak didn't need to be hanging off the edge like that. Madden sucks.
BA Spike 01/04/2004
I love their food, but never go there anymore. The noise level is so high, you can hardly enjoy any conversation with your party. I'm told by friends in the resturant biz this is done to get customers pushed out quickly. If so, they won, I go elsewhere.
steaklover 12/16/2003
Not like it used to be............service is horrible and the food is OK but definately overpriced
