I've always been a little dubious about a rabbit leaving little chocolate droppings everywhere. I much prefer the Easter Pig, who leaves ham and bacon.

i am not surprised the Easter bunny came much later. My kids enjoyed Easter baskets through out their childhood and liked to search for them every Easter. I am not a huge Easter person. but i guess the easter bunny is some harmless fun.
