I've found it to always be good and one of my favorites to dine out in Memphis.

AMAZING! THE PEOPLE WHO LEAVE BAD REVIEWS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. GET THE LETTUCE WRAPS

P.F. Chang's is my favorite reataurant in the WORLD!! They have the best food!! i REALLY like the lettuce wraps THEY ARE AWESOME!!! The service there is great and the people are friendly, they really care about your opinion on your food. If you don't like one of the dishes that you picked then they will gladly bring you something else NO CHARGE!! at least thats what they did for me at the on in Louisville!! i LOVE P.F. Chang's as a chinese restaurant but nothing compares to the CHeesecake Factory!!
badbearduke 05/16/2006
Grossly overpriced, and bland, bland, bland! Who the hell is cooking there illeagal mexicans? They served me something they called fried rice, that looked & tasted more like puffed rice stir fried. YUK!
Ih8rateitall 03/08/2006
Well my experience wit Asian cuisine isn't that great. Me, I'm a meat and potatoes man. Asian meals are too small, and dude where's the seasoning! You'll be hungry again in a hour. However, I like fortune cookies.

service is kind of hit or miss but i always love pf changs, the portions are hit or miss too, they advertise everything as family style, where in reality half of the things on the menu are given to you in massive quantities, the other half you cant share with more than two people. oh well, overall its a good place to eat.
AZ_foodgeek 12/14/2005
My wife and I have had several bad food experiences at Changs, from stomach cramps, to just bad service. The restaurant uses a good customer service formula but the food quality is equal to any fast food Chinese. The dining setting is well done for the price of the food. But if food quality is more important I do not recommend this restaurant.

Take one cup of salt and one cup of sugar and mix ingredients well. You now have the seasoning for each and every dish at Pf Chang's except for maybe dessert. Don't expect to be eating good Chinese food here as these dishes are not just Americanized but seasoned with some of the off-the-wall flavors that somehow make it taste good. Don't get too excited about the lettuce wraps in advance of your first visit. They are good but probably don't match any dish the local Mom & Pop Chinese restaurant offers. Here is the secret about the famed "Lettuce Wraps." You are presented with a dish of chicken goobers (for lack of a decent description) that has sticky stuff on them and lying on top of those cellophane looking things you find in a Chinese grocery store. Of course you will first assume the cellophane stuff is white rice... probably steamed. However it has one of those ancient names and the natives call it, "cellophane noodles." Then to the side a dish is placed with about 4 big leaves of lettuce. Of course earlier in this loud restaurant the waiter mixed up some goop in a small dish, mumbled something about what it was called, and has 3 other glass dispensers with a metal spout that contains an unknown concoction. If the goop is too hot to your liking you take one of the glass dispensers that contain vinegar (your first thought is rice vinegar, but probably not since Pf Chang doesn't do normal) and sprinkle some of that on the goop to cool it down a notch. The dark colored dispenser has soy sauce but not as good as Kikkoman. I didn't attempt to play with the 3rd dispenser as I thought I was learning way too much for my first visit so who knows what was inside it? As you are looking at this dish of goobers and lettuce leaves you think you need to eat this in some way but you don't want to do anything stupid where the waiter might come up later and say, "Did I bring you enough lettuce to wash your hands well?" So you sort of have to look at the other tables with leaves of lettuce and see what they are doing. You surmise that you put these goobers on top of the lettuce. And since it is called a "wrap" it likely needs to be wrapped up. Of course then you need to look around and see how to eat this mess. IOW, do you use a fork or just your hands? You use your hands. I don't care if the Chinaman comes from China, there is no way he has the dexterity to place those goobers on lettuce, wrap them up and eat them with chopsticks. So this lettuce wrap idea must have came about the same time Chinese technology devised a way make cellophane eatable. The big secret (now that you have mastered how to wrap up this mess) is, it doesn't taste all that bad. Usually anything that is such an unlikely fit mixed together taste bad, but this doesn't. It's not great, but just better than expected. Of course the salt and sugar seasoning is in abundance in this dish. Plan on getting something with chicken or shrimp. For the beef lovers you get something very unique compared to other Mom & Pop Chinese restaurants. Mongolian Beef is made with a little twist. Instead of all the grease you find from the Mom & Pop Mongolian kitchens, it is replaced with sugar and salt. Plus a little extra salt if you didn't taste it the first time. So it will be memorable for you, the restaurant finds the toughest beef imaginable but they still tend to cut it thin to make you think it might be just as tender as the Mom & Pop places. This is a paradise for sampling all types of wines by the glass. As though you just arrived at a fine Italian restaurant you are presented with a wine list that doesn't miss a single California winery and sure to offer something that you haven't ever tried before. Maybe this is why this place is so loud... you think you are amongst large Italian families enjoying dinner, however you are actually around people that want you to see them and you want to be seen by them. You glance over and see someone you know at a distant table and give that little wave that means, "Yeah, I'm stupid enough to drive past a perfectly good Mom & Pop Chinese restaurant with much better food, lower prices, no waiting, and a nice quite atmosphere, so I could get here too." I actually saw three Chinese guys sitting at a table near the windows but I am almost certain it had something to do with a fraternity initiation of hazing or some sort of humiliation. Actually this place isn't all that bad but there wasn't one dish that I could say is memorable. If you haven't been, you need to go just to see what it is like.

OK. The salt and pepper calamari is awesome but that's about it.
AndrewScott 04/29/2005
The one near me gets all the details right. Impressive service, food and atmosphere. P.F. Chang's doesn't feel anything like a traditional Asian restaurant -- the vibe is more hip, upscale and bohemian, and less mom and pop. I was surprised to find no Asians working there on my last visit, just a sprinkling of Asian patrons. P.F. Chang's has plenty of devotees (especially those on special diets) and here the wait was so long on weekend nights that they just moved to a reservation system. For those that like contemporary Asian prepared well, its worth a visit.
sltlyamusd 04/06/2005
Food is decent, but definitely favors trendy over authentic. Atmosphere is often very loud, with lots of people hanging around the bar. Expect a long wait if you don't have a reservation during evenings. Prices are a little higher than you'd find in most independent chinese restaurants. Not unreasonable, but not cheap either. Love the curry veggies with tofu
brookeloyola 03/28/2005
SOOO GOOOD! The Lettuce Wraps are awesome, and so is the Crispy Shrimp
Specialboothvi cJr. 01/25/2005
I have not been to P.F. Chang's but my mom has been there and brought me some leftover's, the food was delishous.
TeachMeLove 12/20/2004
They do all the little things well and succeed in distinguishing themselves from traditional Asian restaurant chains. Hip atmosphere, delicious meal preparation, great service.
tlcos 12/09/2004
Chain Chinese- Darn good, but could be better. Wished the site had half stars because PFC is a 4.5 in this category. Food, service, beverages good to great. Atmosphere generally good. Prices on par. But they did not knock my socks off.
Gy-rater 12/07/2004
The first time I went to a P.F. Chang's with a group of colleagues ona road trip, I thought that nothing good would come from chain Chinese. Wrong! THis place rocks! The food is excellent, although they sometimes do run out of some of the more popular items on the menu which is a signal that their kitchen management is not always on its toes. Generally, while a little high-end pricewise, they are a very good place to go eat great Chinese food.
RaterX 11/20/2004
In my top 5 restaurants, and is my favorite in the Chinese chain category. Great food and service but the drinks are watered down. Makes other Chinese food seem like MSG-filled mystery meat crap.
veenat 11/18/2004
The lettuce wraps are good, but the rest of the food isn't really worth the prices. Nice atmosphere, though.
yasmeen19 09/07/2004
I tried P.F. Chang's for the second time tonight. The first time I was kinda disappointed since I had imposed vegetarianism upon myself...and the choices were not too interesting :) Tonight, I just went there with a couple of my friends after our modeling shoot. Wanted some real high-protein, low carb stuff. So I had the chicken with black bean soup. It was absolutely delicious!!! The slices/chunks of breast meat were stir-fried, tender and fun to eat! Highly recommended!!!!

Chinese restaurants was always one of those cuisines that never translated well as a chain restaurant. In the early 1990s, there was a chain called China Sea that did not last very long. P. F. Chang's is the first to do it successfully. Being a Philadelphian, I have experienced so many outstanding Chinese restaurants in the Chinatown section. Chang's is excellent, but not quite 5 stars. It is fairly pricey compared to the New #1 Chinese Food down the block. Some of the dishes (like their won ton soup) are a little too bistroized and may not have that authentic Chinatown taste. Overall, Chang's is good if you want a fancy, interesting meal, but I'll take Chinatown if I want a real good Chinese meal.

My favorite chain restaurant, period. Awesome Chinese food a a reasonable price.
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
Decent food, a littel pricey.
CocoPaloma 02/25/2004
Yummy - plus a healthy menu!
melott 02/19/2004
I am stumped as to why there is always a severe wait for okay chinese food. The restaurant itself is small on purpose to create the allure of a busy scene.
BeanoCook 02/15/2004
I must admit that this place and Asian Big Bowl filled a niche. Too many cities are filled with the same order by number asian restaurants and my have only 1 or 2 haute asian cusine options. PF Chang is at least somewhere in between and pulls it off.
cupofjo 10/11/2003
I thought that PF Changs was very good. I tooo had heard a lot about this place ....I wasn't disappointed. The lettuce wraps are excellent as well as the mongolian beef.
Gia_artist 06/24/2003
I had such a great experience here in Palm Springs, it was just superior but when we visited the one in Vegas, it was just okay. I guess they vary from place to place.
impekable 05/30/2003
Isn't suspicious that most of rated restaurants are having more than four stars??? Not sure if the "restaurants" rate highly for themselves on this site. But my personal and objective opinion is that PF Chang's is a waste of your money. enuff said.
SylviaJen 05/03/2003
I found the food to be no better than your average hole in the wall Chinese restaurant for twice the price.
jpdols 05/01/2003
This place is SO OVER-RATED and OVER-PRICED!!! The atmosphere is cool and the customer service has always been good. The food there is terrible. I've tried many of the dishes there and have been unsatified by everyone of them. I guess the people who rate it at five stars have only eaten chinese at the food court in a mall.
captainobvious 02/08/2003
I've heard much hype about this restaraunt so I was excited when my friend got a job as a Manager there I thought great now a cool place to go out and eat free food... NOT! The Kitchen was filthy, they use the same bowls over and over to make the same food without cleaning them aside from wiping with a rag and virtually everydish is soaked with oil. Not exactly the healthiest food I've ever had but if your willing to clog your arteries to eat food from a filthy kitchen served by a staff that is less than friendly by all means go for it.
dbrinley 04/27/2001
Fresh lettuce 'tacos' are one thing that defines PF Chang's. We're looking forward to the new Seattle area restaurant! LA is a long way to travel for a lettuce taco.

We went for the first time to P.F. Chang's and enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere is especially pleasant - attractive murals, interesting lighting, comfortable seating. I ordered VIP Cantonese Chicken, which our server said was his favorite item on the menu, but I was disappointed. The presentation was beautiful: 1/4 roasted chicken accompanied by shredded cucumber and onion. Unfortunaately, the chicken was very dry and the pancakes that came with it tasted like raw flour. My husband's moo goo gai pan was excellent though. And the wine list is outstanding, especially for people who like to order by the glass. I've never seen so many by-the-glass selections. We will definitely return to P.F. Chang's, but I'll choose a different dish.
THEPISCE 04/04/2001
I NEVER THOUGHT CHINESE FOOD COULD TASTE LIKE THAT. WHEN I GOT THERE THERE WAS A 45 MINUTE WAIT. NOW THAT I'VE TASTED THE FOOD I WOULD WAIT TWICE AS LONG IF I HAD TO
CastleBee 02/27/2001
I had my first experience dining here last weekend and I must say I was not disappointed. I love Chinese food and, having lived in Hawaii, have had the opportunity to sample some pretty good examples of it. P.F. Chang's had a very unique and good tasting selection. On top of that, the service was very good, atmosphere pleasant and the prices were very reasonable.
Nicole J. 01/28/2001
This place is out of this world incredible! Everyone I take there loves it! We drive an hour and a half just to eat there! I highly reccommend PF Changs!!
IMHO 01/14/2001
The best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The worst attitude I have ever received from a hostess. First time, last time. Not worth the attitude. I have better things to do.

PF Chang's is an amazing restaurant. The food is so good. It is very light tasting food. My favorite is the lettece wraps. They have a good wine list too. The service is really good too. This is my favorite restaurant in Arizona.
upchuck 07/28/2000
Very tasty food, reasonably priced and the food is fresh. One of the few Chinese restaurants that consistently pass the health inspections.
Shroomwoman 07/28/2000
I really like the atmosphere at P.F. Chang's, and the menu is interesting, but I never much like the food. I have eaten there at least three times, and I have had the same experience every time. Plus, I think the food is overpriced. From now on I'll be sticking with my local Chinese restaurant.
rausland 07/27/2000
P.F. Changs is a non-traditional chain store. They serve up asian fare in a chic contemporary setting. The food is great and the pricing quite reasonable for the quality of the food. Four of us had dinner and drinks for $60.00. That's tough to beat. The chinese food is out of this world. If you have one in your area, do yourself a favor and check it out!
