My cousin worked at a Boston Market and it was shut down because there were rats living in the place.

Was good back when they were "Boston Chicken", but then they over expanded and the food went down hill. Supermarket rottisserie chicken is often better. They seriously need to get back to their roots.
spinette 01/22/2007
Well okay, I cannot tell a lie, I love Boston Market, but of course there is no replacement for food prepared at home.
Momsandpopscal lmeJoe 11/06/2006
Not bad if ya must eat there but its a poor substitution for homestyle cooking. Nothin' will ever replace my moms and granny's cookin'.
jimorama 08/06/2006
Exhibit A of a chain that expanded too quickly. Decent concept, but the southerners wont eat anything with a "Boston" attached to it (Yankee Candle in the south is Nantucket Candle...). The rotisserie is good for bringing home for the family. Just avoid the premade crap they sell in the supermarkets.

I'm not sure how many are still around at this point, but they did provide a nice alternative to the typical artery-clogging-McDonald's-type fast food joint that seems to infest every town, city and hamlet across the globe. If you absolutely can't avoid fast food (and who, on occasion, can't?), this is the place to eat. That is if you can find one.
kissmeback 06/01/2006
for the first time i try thire food and i like it.
Ih8rateitall 03/19/2006
Don't get fooled by the commercials dudes, this food is terrible. Home cooking my bum! My grandma is rolling over in her grave. Too much glaze on the ham, and the turkey was too dry. Hated it!
MarcChagall 03/07/2006
I stopped in a Boston Market drive through today to get their lunch special of sandwich, soup and a side dish. This is the first and last time I'll ever go to Boston Market. The service sucked and so did the food. I didn't know at the time that Boston Market is owned by McDonalds. Now I see why they're so bad. So if you're in Columbia, Maryland, pass by the Boston Market on Snowden River Parkway.

2/4/06: Sadly, I must bump this one down a couple of notches, too, based on experiences in the Gainesville, FL location. I avoid eating there after two instances of getting violently ill after taking a bite of corn which had a very distinct chemical-y taste and scent, as well as the mac 'n' cheese. Even the sweet tea was off. I'll give it a "3" out of past experiences elsewhere, but I'm not going back until a few more months; I'm guessing that they're just not cleaning the cookware properly, and I'm hoping that, with the kind of turnaround that most fast food joints get, there'll be new employees with better rinsing habits. 7/20/03: ::drool:: Oh, just thinking about it makes me want to go out and get some of that rotisserie chicken . . . they've got an excellent selection of side dishes, and ordering a Meal for Three is a great meal for me and my fiance'. Three huge side dishes, a whole chicken to split between us, and some fairly decent cornbread . . . Yum. The chicken (at the place we always go to) is consistantly juicy and flavorful. The mashed potatoes are, well, pretty average; the corn tends to be pretty seasoned, but not too bad; the mac & cheese is REALLY cheesy (in a good way); the apples are INCREDIBLY good. It's a bit on the pricy side, certainly, but if you're willing to spend a few more bucks to avoid a less-satisfying meal, this is a gret place to do so.

Almost gave this a five. Their chicken caesar salad, with fresh, hot chicken put on is AMAZING. This is my staple meal, along with a chocolate chip cookie and a bottled water. (their cookies are great). The lines sometimes move slow and the seating tends to be limited....they could work on the atmosphere here a little bit. Still, great, healthier food at fast food type pace.
interloper5 11/23/2005
why do they pour that nasty garlic sauce on all the vegetables ? only get rotisserie chicken.
KellysOpinion2 005 11/10/2005
Too expensive. Alot of them are going out of business where I live.
kingguiness 11/03/2005
There is not too many around anymore as they downsized due to weak business. But I did'nt think they were that bad. They were actually a step above fast food and should have been promoted differently. I dont know where they are in my area but I would sure go to one if I knew.

Who needs laxatives? Eat at Boston Market and you'll be 'regular' in about 45 minutes!
Wavebacker 07/25/2005
Boston Market has just come out with sirloin. What a great move. I always appreciated them for trying to serve a decent meal, but the sirloin move is a great one. I had some and it was fantastic. I wanted more. Usually their food is good anyway, but adding beef is just another reason to stop in.
sarahsonic 06/29/2005
Doesn't appeal to me. The home cooked style meal is not very good. I'd rather eat at home.
JOHN HAYEN 06/27/2005
Fairly unigue in concept. Menu is diverse and most products on it are decent tasting as well. A little confusing if you've never ordered meals there before.
Randyman 05/22/2005
I'm not that big of a fan of Boston Market, but they are good in a pinch, when for whatever reason, you don't have the time to cook at home. But it just does not have that real home cooked taste, at least not to me. It's acceptable food, but nothing special.
xmanda 04/30/2005
reasonably priced for what you get...i usually get a quarter chicken white with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese with their corn bread...i'm not a corn bread fan, but i like theirs a lot. their meals taste down-home, with comfort foods such as my usual meal. you've got many choices and they're cooking up more nowadays.
sltlyamusd 04/06/2005
Greasy, salty, fatty food. Just to look at the size of the people dining there might give you second thoughts. Owned by McDonalds.
zuchinibut 02/23/2005
If I wanted a meal to taste home made, I would make it at home. There food is too greasy for my liking and is just a step above a TV dinner.
Specialboothvi cJr. 02/15/2005
Good sides, good chicken. Nice atmosphre, it seems a little expensive for fast food though.
midwesterner19 01/31/2005
I worked at a Columbus store once. The chain had excellent food that was prepared fresh around the clock. The prices are high around 7 dollars or so typically for meal which you can get a sit-down eating place for the same price. I was shocked how many things at Boston Market are from scratch.
grantlmiller 01/31/2005
Too expensive.. The cornbread muffins in my area are now little blobs of cooked cornmeal. tasteless. The servings are small for money spent.. I am frequenting this place less and less.
sfalconer 11/19/2004
I like it but my family hates it. A lot of good food but it is a little expensive. If you have not been there before, take your time as the menu is a little confusing.
Djahuti 11/07/2004
Worst chicken I ever had, overpriced sides. There's better chow under the lights in the supermarket hot foods section.
opinion585 11/02/2004
Nice family restraunt, i like the mac and cheese and roasted chicken a lot, the corn bread and everything else is a little questionable.
WarGamefan93 10/10/2004
The place is good. They have good corn bread, chicken, and mashed potatoes. The rest is kind of iffy. And duckie067 is right. The place is a little pricey.
duckie067 08/26/2004
Overpriced and overrated.
BugahaNE 07/08/2004
I like Boston Market, I don't like the rotisserie chicken, but the other main dishes and side items are excellent. The employees are very attentive and friendly. My city there are only 2 restaurants left, the others have closed, I am not sure if maybe the prices have something to do with it, it is a little expensive for a fast-food type restaurant, but I think it is generally worth it.
tatef87 06/11/2004
it might be just the my local boston market but i always find hairs in my food
alpepper 06/11/2004
I always liked the food there. But my dad once cut into their chicken and had blood squirting out of it. Then my wife had food poisoning after eating a takeout meal from them. Haven't gone there since.
Contax 05/19/2004
I give Boston Market four stars because it is so much better than its corporate sister (McDonalds) Decent meatloaf. Good chicken. But those new potatoes are simply outstanding. Sweet corn is easy, but theirs is among the best. All the pop you can drink. Real butter available without having to ask is a BIG plus. Cornbread is not bad, either.
Redoedo 03/31/2004
Overpriced and overrated. Plenty of other places to choose from.
Enkidu 03/19/2004
One of the better chains; if I'm in a hurry this is a fairly good place to get a take-out meal. It's not like a real restaurant, but it's ten times better than Golden Arches level fare.
Sundiszno 03/19/2004
Pretty good food and selection for a fast food chain. Doesn't smell greasy when you go into a Boston Market. I'm sure it's not the healthiest food around, but it's gotta be better than the cholesterol, fat, and salt you get in burger chains. Prices are about right for what you get.
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
I'll make my own better chicken.
VirileVagabond 03/15/2004
It has been some time since I ate at a Boston Market, mostly due to they are getting harder to find. If memory serves, the food was good (though more expensive) with rotisserie chicken and lots of healthy options for side orders (eg veggies and spuds). Getting one of the meals for two, three, etc does help control the price and is recommended.
mpax 03/13/2004
Reasonably prices, lots of choices.
BostonMarketMa nager 02/25/2004
I love boston market, mainly becuase I work there, but also becuase the food is great. We have new food, a healthier(believe it or not) menu selections. It is a bit expensive but it is worth every penny, compared to fast food!
DickWeener 01/22/2004
Alot of choices here, expensive sides, some of the time they are kinda old, so I don't really know how good the food is fresh , it tasted alright....I would go somewhere else if I wanted to spend that kind of money on a dinner.
LRRAPP 01/03/2004
It's great to go somewhere that serves real, recognizable food. This is better by far than the burger joints-they actually have vegetables. One of the great things is the chance to taste before buying. How about a four side-order plate offering?
Box Office 11/08/2003
Great food. The absolute best chicken with mashed potatos and gravy. I just wish their prices wern't so high.
kolby1973 07/13/2003
I would just as soon stay at home to make these type of meals. But it is an interesting idea for some people I guess. I just don't care for the food myself. It just isnt my idea of fast food to be honest.....but I am NOT knocking it.
tototoo 07/08/2003
Love the quality food although prices are high. This is a healthy place to get "fast food."
Moosekarloff 07/08/2003
Too expensive, food just OK. Several franchises of this chain went out of business in NYC in the past year, and that tells you something. With a huge captive market of people in a hurry who are willing to spend, NYC should have been a bellwether territory for this chain. Bellwether it was in that the people gave this outfit the cold shoulder. I actually ate in one, so I know why this happened.
bodarc 06/16/2003
Our lunch bunch has gone there three times in the last year. We always leave saying it wasn't very good and that we should drop them from our rotation. Two second chances were enough, they're now off the luncheon list.
BEBEBLOO 04/15/2003
I love Boston Market, the food taste so homemade and they are reasonably priced. Love the meatloaf!
Tsukiakiko 03/25/2003
Depends on the management, but the food can be very good. Their baked beans are great, but they don't always have them. Best corn bread in a fast food place since Roy Rogers stopped selling it.
