i was in the attalla location this past sunday and got the worst biscuit and gravy that i have ever seen. i was so disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. they did not even have fountain drinks available. i will think carefully about going there again. Jacks has questionable food but they are at least concistant.

WTF happened to their fried chicken? it was better than KFC...
As for their burgers, yes they are meaty and large but because of all the sauce on them the freakin' burger slides around and drips all over you and they never put napkins in the bag. Then there's their fries. meh, 4 stars i guess. They're good, but nothing to drool over. Until they bring back fried chicken I will never give them a proper rating.

Didnt this die already with Lums and Shakey's Pizza circa 1978?

Should change its name to Mediocritee's ( sic). Nothing good here folks. 1.5

Only for the mushroom swiss burger...great burger. Back when they had chicken, it was far better than KFC, but they quit that.

While Hardee's may have had its problems in the 90's, they are now one of THE best fast-food restaurants to go to when you want a burger. I don't eat at McD's or Burger King anymore, just Hardee's and a local burger joint. You get much more for your buck, and nothing is as good as a grilled sourdough burger.
dothanbama 10/21/2007
Im sorry, but they have the best fast food burgers PERIOD, regardless of how dumpy their locations are. One in Dothan just rennovated. Oh and btw, if you want health food, then eat at a smoothie shop, as this is fast food so stop already with the health lectures people. If you can find a modern Hardee's then you will enjoy the heck out of their thickburgers. Yes their the most expensive and highly fattening, but why do you think? Its all ANGUS beef, which no other fast food chain offers and they dont spare the flavor. Thankfully Carls Jr who is the parent company of Hardee's emailed me that all the hardees in the South will be totally updated by mid-2010... then it can compete bigtime!

it is hillbilly southern junk food dump!

The Hardee's in Newnan, Georgia is dirty, some not all employees are rude, the food has absolutely NO consistency in quality -- rudeness seems to be tolerated even with complaints to corporate -- they offer no follow-up with complaints -- store telephone no. on hardee's receipt is NEVER answered -- i have not been there for 4 months, and never will again !!! That's a real shame since i really miss there menu, and there is no other hardee's nearby ... THANX CRAPPY HARDEE'S OF NEWNAN GEORGIA !!!

Good burgers at least for fast food and great curly fries. One of those things I look forward to when traveling south.

Vomitburgers! This whole franchise sucks! If I want to blow 10 bucks on a burger and fries for lunch I would expect better than this! Institutional grade slop! I have had high school cafeteria burgers that tasted better than this!
manonthecorner 77 11/26/2006
When I lived out in Arizona as another poster mentioned they were called Carls Jr. They didnt seem to be suffering out there at all. The Hardees name in the Midwest is dying or becoming Carls Jr. It is my understanding that Carls Jr has bought the Hardees franchise and it is a slow but sure transition that all of the Hardees that exist will sooner or later be a Carls Jr. Maybe all the talk about seeing so many Hardees close down is due to that and will later be replaced with a Carls and a newer better building. They are working their way east so see what happens. As far as my gripes its basically the the ridiculous prices. 6 bucks for a drivethru burger is bullshit. I mean its ok to offer that to the customer that wants to spend that much but the whole fucking menu is now a high dollar nightmare. You can't get out of that place without spending close to ten bucks on one meal. The good old 99 cent burgers are gone. Most the Carls Jrs I were in out west were all clean and kept up very nicely and the service friendly but slow as molasses and the drive thrus were a joke. One thing that did impress me is I did get a voucher without even asking one time for a free cone or shake for waiting in the drive thru too long one time when I was out west at a Carls. I give them four stars its just their prices and slow service that get to me otherwise the food is quite enjoyable.
Doctor of Madness 07/11/2006
The burgers are huge and a really good value. The menu is large and diverse, but it all tastes wonderful.

After being mistreated, threatened and harassed late at night by an irate district manager I want to let people know to watch out for the Hardees stores operated by franchise owner Jerry Landis in eastern and central Ohio. I understand he also owns the quiznos franchises around the state as well. I want to point out that I and members of my outdoors club used to eat at hardees about once a week. That's 20 guys ordering roughly 2 sandwiches a piece, or approximately $200 each time we walk in, usually more than that. So we spend approximately $10,000 a year in that store and have never had a problem until recently. We can hardly be called problem customers. I recently had the displeasure of having the same order screwed up in exactly the same way at two different hardees locations within an hour of each other. I was driving eastwards, went to one hardees, and found they had put mayo on all the sandwiches when told not to. We were still hungry and have always had good luck with hardees before this so we stopped at the next hardees we came to and ordered the same thing there, which totalled out to over $50.00 I should add. Monster burgers are not cheap. The second order was also screwed up by someone insisting on putting that white poison called mayo on them. On finally getting home and feeding myself and my family peanut butter sandwiches for dinner after a long day and drive I was far from pleased. The first restaurant in Coshocton Ohio gave me a hard time but eventually replaced the order, several weeks later. The second restaurant said they would, then when I went into the store a week later they said they knew nothing about it even though it was the same manager who had made the order as well as spoken to me on the phone. Weeks later, after no response to my complaints through the hardees complaint line I called the local store and the manager told me they had fired that particular evening manager due to many such problems. They agreed to replace the order. Later that evening, around 9 pm, well after reasonable business hours, I received a call from an irate district manager from Hardees who yelled at me saying I was trying to "scam them for free food". She said that unless I could produce the receipt, over a month later at this point, and which I was never given in the first place, that she refused to believe we had even been in the stores or had the orders that were messed up by them. She then hung up without allowing me to say anything. On calling her back immediately I was told that if I went into any of their stores that I would be arrested for trespassing. This is after they had screwed up an order in a way that could easily have killed someone with a food allergy similar to mine. So far calls to the hardees complaint line have done no good. I am speaking to an attorney as well as several local agencies at this point to consider legal action against the franchise owner.

Their prices are getting ridiculous now and the food isn't getting any better. Ordered some tater tots one morning and could taste the burnt grease they had cooked them in.
pinedaddy 02/01/2006
They no longer have any Hardees in cincinnati, ohio but I kinda miss them. They were good years ago but went downhillin the late 90s. they have hardees in tennessee that flame broil their burgers like the king, but for some reason they never had that here. I liked the flame broiled ones, and always hoped they would start doing that here, instead they closed them all.

HARDEE'S IS GREAT, I LOVE THAT PLACE. IT'S THE EXACT EAST COAST EQUIVALENT TO THE CARL'S JR RESTAURANTS ON THE WEST COAST. THE BURGERS ARE MARVELOUS. EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ITEMS ON THIER MENU FOR THE HEALTH CONSCIOUS CUSTOMER, I BELEIVE ITS BEST TO LET A BURGER BE FATNING LOL, AFTER ALL IT'S NOT LIKE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT EATING THERE ON AN EVERYAY BASIS, SO GO AHEAD AND ENJOY YOURSELF NOW. FEEL GUILTY AND EXERCISE LATER IF IT'S THAT CRITICAL FOR YOU LOL. CHECK OUT BOTH WEBSITES TO SEE WHAT I MEAN...FOR CARL'S JR IT'S: WWW.BURGERS.COM, AND FOR HARDEE'S IT'S: WWW.HARDEES.COM

They are simply the Southern version of Arbys.

Improved a lot in the last few years...used to be pretty bad, but they have a better menu and customer service.
interloper5 07/25/2005
Used to eat at the one in Annapolis (Parole) Maryland before Hardees closed most of its Maryland Restaurants. I loved their breakfast.
Specialboothvi cJr. 05/19/2005
I find this place good, but not the best place. But the reason why I give this place a 5 is that they bring the food to you when you're sitting down. I like their breakfast menu and the Roast Beef sandwiches, especially their fries. and spellbound571969, i don't have one favorite ffc.UPDATE: I just read that their Monster thickburger has lots of calories and carbs, possibly more fat than you average big mac.
37102002 04/03/2005
good variety of food items. curly fries are the bomb.
twansalem 03/31/2005
How could Hardee's be rated so low? The Monster Burger is the best fast food burger available, add curly fries, even better.
irishgit 02/15/2005
Nasty muck. Not fit for lizards. Maybe that's what the meat really is, now that I think about it.
Damifino 01/19/2005
About 3 years ago, I rated Hardee's a 1. At that time, I slammed their food and vowed that it would be a very, very long time before I ate there again. Well, I recently returned to Hardee's to sample one of these Thickburgers I've heard so much about. I ordered the 6-Dollar Burger, and I must say that I was very impressed. Everything, including the meat, toppings, and bread, tasted fresh and made-to-order. The service was much improved (quicker, nicer) from my previous visits. And, these good points have stayed consistent upon 3 additional visits in the last few weeks. Now, for a couple of nit-picks. One, Hardee's absolutely has to do something about the cleanliness of their restaurants. I still notice in the locations near me an inordinate amount of trash on the floor and flies buzzing around the dining area. This much hasn't improved over the last 3 years. And two, I'm seeing more and more Hardee's locations close down in my area (metro Atlanta). That can't be a good sign, which puzzles me. With a revamped menu and burgers that taste this good, they should be on the rebound by now. Here's wishing you well, Hardee's!
Mad Hatter 12/29/2004
Not to bad. If you are ever in Phoenix, and you like Hardee's, they are called Carl's Jr. here.
BugahaNE 12/18/2004
Poor Hardees.. they have tried so many menu changes and advertising campaigns the last few years. but nothing is working and the chain continues to become extinct. The food is no better or worse than any of the other fast-food holes, but for some reason. people just do not go to Hardees.
spellbound5719 69 12/07/2004
If it's not the best place, why did you give it 5 stars? DUH.
opinion585 11/02/2004
It will be gone in a few years, it just isnt good, sorry. They keep on having all of these black and white commercails with averae joe's endorsing it in construction caps and stuff, but it isnt working. The burgers are gross, there is just nothing specail, not surprised to see that it is at the bottom of the list!
WarGamefan93 10/09/2004
Man, can I give a igher rating than 5?! Hardee's is awesome. I love their roast beef sandwiches.

I used to love hardee's. I used to go all the time to get the old Monster Roast Beef. And then they went and changed the menu, and didn't have that sandwich. Well, I just went today to get me a roast beef sandwich, because I love hardee's roast beef, and I found out that they no longer serve the roast beef. Now, that just makes me mad. When they stopped making the monster roast beef, it was no big deal cause I could add the cheese and bacon. Now, I can't even do that. So, instead, I went and got a double cheeseburger from mcdonalds for only a buck. I guess thats where I will be eating when I do eat out.
JJBurns84 04/18/2004
Ok, I cannot speak for the Hardee's in other towns, but the Hardee's here is great. When I've tried their Angus burger, I was hooked. In fact, for a while I lost all interest in other burgers. I just couldn't taste them. Also, their spicy curly fries are my favorite fries of all time. The Frisco burger isn't bad either. What other fast-food restaurant offers sourdough breaded burgers? My only reservation about giving a five star is the commercials and the price. I do kinda understand that they have to be a little more expensive than other restaurants because of their new thickburgers. However, their commercials are inexcusable. They're condenscending because they try to manipulate their potential customers by presenting an image of what people who eat at Hardee's shouldn't be. Only manly men/women should eat at our restaurant. I know they're not trying to limit their range of customers. They just want people to think that their burgers are soooo big that only a real man could finish it. However, I'm sure people do not like to be attacked personally when they sit down to watch t.v. So, my rating is for the restaurant and the food itself. The commercials just suck.
aero43 04/01/2004
Hey i aggree burgers are good. I say the spicy chicken sandwich aslo good, its pretty equivalent to wendys when maid right. The fries are ok, but noone can beat mcdonalds. The only con is they could be a little cleaner so thats why I gave them a four star and not a five. All in all definetly come back if you havent been in a while, their new menu has some pretty good stuff!
ceebyjeeby 03/18/2004
I like the new burgers, 100% Angus beef, which tastes much like when you throw burgers on the grill at home. In other words, it actually tastes like MEAT, and it's actually because it IS meat in this case. I buy the roast beef sandwich only when it is 99 cents (its 40 miles to the nearest Arby's for better roast beef, so I deal) because I am disappointed to always get yukky buns. The meat seems like it's fresh, so why is the bun soggy ? I'm confused. I don't usually go to a place for a meal, I just get a sandwich, so I can't say much about the fries, salads, etc. I DO love the seasoned curly fries though, if they have them I might get them now and then. My local Hardee's has decent service, some friendly people, some ambivilent, but none are really mean or dirty. If you work at Hardee's I'd think it's hard to be happy.
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
New sandwiches are great.
moodycritic 02/19/2004
Actually, Hardee's hamburgers are quite decent--the six-dollar burger is an inspired piece of marketing, but the rest of the menu is mediocre at best. The french fries are especially bad--tasteless and thin, they do not resemble a potato product.
pd 02/09/2004
The best has gotten better. Their new half-pound burger is the best chain drive through burger in the Southeast.
DickWeener 02/02/2004
Hardee's half pound burger is awesome, it 100% USDA Angus beef, this is the real stuff here kiddies, probably the best fast food burger I have tasted, doesn't even taste like fast food to me. This is a fairly new item on the menu, they improved so much on this....I also like the frisco burger, but it's no Half pounder....
1JohnDoeFan 01/13/2004
Those of you who haven't tried their new THICKBURGERS (Are THICKHEADED!!!). Try one!!! You will not believe your tastebuds. I was floored. The best fast food burger EVER!!! Hell, it is better than a BBQ grilled burger from home... NO JOKE!!!
tvtator 11/18/2003
Worst hamburger of any chain
jazzybee 10/05/2003
my local hardee's takes too long.. at the drive thru, you have to turn your car off because you might waste gas because of the wait.. this happens at night when there are no customers. also, ever since hardee's turned to charbroiled, it tastes like burnt hamburger doused in lighter fluid.. service used to be good back in the day, but not anymore.. charbroiled! ha! who do they think they are trying to be, Burger King?
Moosekarloff 07/08/2003
This used to be a good chain back in the days, but something happened. Keep in mind, however, that virtually all fast food sucks, it's just a matter of suckiness in degrees. They once offered a sandwich called "The Monster," that if it were well prepared, which was not too often, was pretty damn good. However, that's not enough to write home about.
twinmom101 06/08/2003
What do I need to say? Any chain that uses commercials stating "The last place you would go for a burger" pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. You know your company is in dire straits when that's your ad campaign.
Adjudicator 02/22/2003
Am waiting to see the nationwide roll-out of Hardee's new menu (by 04/03). While I have heard good things concerning it from patrons who visited the test locations, I do not think Hardee's can pull this off in ALL of their locations and STILL maintain the product quality they assure will be present. I will be amazed if they accomplish same. So will a lot of others, I imagine... ;)
DoverYardbird 02/03/2003
Just tried the Hardees NEW Big Chicken Fillet. What a hunk of junk! Whoever approved this sandwich should be fired! Pre-formed breaded chicken tastes like cardboard. Same as McDonalds. ATTN: All fast food businesses----if you can't equal or surpass Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich, then don't bother with the chicken sandwich. Wendy's uses real chicken, I don't know what that garbage was in the Hardees sandwich.
