Rowan Atkinson as a Snarky Incarnate. Though all the seasons are funny the WWI (the forgotten war) always gets me to cry at the end. Laurie and Fry are at their chirismatic best as they all slice british culture, literature and patriotism into bloody metaphorical chunks.

Not much more to say that ma duron hasn't already said. You have to see it to appreciate it.

Side-splittingly FUNNY. Quite a distance from the 'Mr. Bean' persona, Rowan Atkinson portrays with flawless callousness the most unscrupulous 'Edmund, Duke of Edimburgh' or the equally conniving 'Capt. Blackadder' throughout four ages in British history (the Dark Ages, the XVIIth and XVIIIth Centuries and at the trenches during WW One). An unexpected delight and a sight - and humor - to behold. With Stephen Fry (as 'Gen. Sir Anthony Hogmanay, Lord Melchett'), Hugh Laurie (as 'The Prince Regent' or 'His Royal Highness', 'Ludwig' or 'Lt. the Right Hon. George Colthurst St. Barleigh'), Tony Robinson (as knuckleheaded 'Baldrick'), Brian Blessed (as 'Richard IV'), Robert East (as 'Prince Harry') and others in the cast, the enjoyment merits repeated viewings . Among titles in early episodes: "Sense and Senility"; "Amy and Amiability" and "Duel and Duality". Truly great writing from Atkinson and others. Pick it up for classic humor.
