This is the only burger chain that won over the author of "Fast Food Nation," who excoriated all the others for unclean meat, etc. I no longer order anything with ground beef in it anywhere but In-N-Out. If you read "Fast Food Nation" or saw the movie, you know why. In-N-Out grinds their own meat, unlike the other chains, who purchase meat that is ground at the meat packers, which is prone to awful contamination. If you want to see what's on In-N-Out's "secret" menu, click their link here. I always order a double meat "animal style" (go to their secret menu to see what it includes) and fries. To me the fries aren't quite as tasty as McDonalds', even though the potatoes are freshly cut on the premises, but they're fine, and probably are a lot healthier (less salt, for starters). In-N-Out is extremely popular, and even with their staff working (happily I might add) at full speed, don't expect it to be as fast as McDonalds. That's because everything is made to order. The high morale of the employees is almost contagious. Far and away my favorite fast-food burger place. Just wish they had more locations here in the San Francisco Bay area.
irishgit 08/16/2007
Simple menu, which is probably a good thing. Tastier than the normal fast food burger.
forshitsandgig gles 06/29/2007
great burgers! I LOVE their "animal style" fries which is on their secret menu. Best damn kept secret!

In-N-Out is so amazing! Locations are only in 3 states, California, Arizona, Nevada and now Utah might be recieving the chain. Their food is on the less fating side for being fast food. I enjoy everything about it, including the "secret menu", if it's still a secret. Even though the menu is selective, the food is great. In-N-Out's meat and french fries really are quality.
Madfoodlover 06/07/2007
The healthiest fast food around.
twansalem 05/28/2007
A national chain? How come I've never heard of them?
lucy2 05/18/2007
I have read reviews that this place has the BEST burgers in the US. If I ever find myself on a trip out west, I will definitely have to stop at one and see for myself; until then our Fatburger will have to do.
KrystalwithaK 05/16/2007
I LOOOOVEEEE Inn-N-Out burger! This shit is amazing. I eat it whenever I go to the mall hahaha :D Their french fries are sooo soooo good!

Good but not great IMHO. A bit overrated, possibly by those suffering from nostalgia for SoCal. Don't get me wrong, In-N-Out is a ritual stop for me when in California because the food is good. It's just not great.
Menu is limited, which probably keeps quality up and costs down, but I prefer places with a few more healthy options.
BlueOrchid 04/27/2007
We always visited In-N-Out Burger on our band trips to California. Sure, fast food got old for a while but going there was always a treat.
mrjackson206 04/26/2007
Decent yet VERY average food. fries are plain though.
Buttroads 04/14/2007
Near the in-n-out burger.
alazz911 03/28/2007
All I know is when I go on vacation to CA/AZ/NV the first thing I am gonna do is get an in and out burger! THE BEST burger I ever had. I wish they would open in the midwest.
bmentlo 03/25/2007
In-n-Out has great Quality in their meat and ingredients. I defy ANYONE to find another fast food burger joint for the price that does. The BEST way to enjoy it is there at the restaurant. The food isn't loaded with preservatives, so if you take it to go by the time you get home; it just isn't the same. Kinda flat tasting..Which let's you know just how fresh the food really is. Like them or not for the quality and price they are the best! They are the only fast food place in SO-CAL that is consistenly jam packed from opening to close. AT EVERY LOCATION!! LOL.
GreggOrange 03/12/2007
They'll be in and out of YOUR bunger down there in the showers in the state penitentiary! Hardee har har!
jamile524 03/09/2007
I visit California about every three years and I must have In N Out Burgers. I was at one today, In-N-Out Hollywood, and I just wanted to say how very impressed I was with the two cashiers there. Very friendly, welcoming and outgoing. You don't find that everywhere. So my compliments to Juan and Evelyn who were the cashiers today (March 8, 2007 at @ 3:37PM. Your out going spirit made my day to much brighter. Also the Burgers and Fries are the best!

I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and was getting tired of paying 12 bucks for lunch and 15 for dinner. We went to in-n-out burger and I was able to get a huge, tasty double cheeseburger, regular chesseburger, and a shake for 5 bucks. I was very impressed. I just wish there were some in Colorado.
brittanyann77 03/01/2007
the best!
ColtSeries70 02/25/2007
Super delicious. I recomend a double double cheeseburger animal style (Thousand island and grilled onions.) The food here is very good and very fresh. Well made good old fashioned burgers, fries, and creamy milkshakes. The lines can be really long due to it's deserved popularity, but it is worth any wait. I am just making my mouth water. If you do not eat meat they also make grilled cheese. It makes a really fun outing on a sunday. KInd of reminds of the days in Grease and stuff. Fun and tasty
primaxdonna 02/21/2007
get out of town! any double burger is yyyyyuuuuummmmm!!!!!
GenghisTheHun 02/20/2007
If it was good enough for Walter, the Dude and Donny in the Big Lebowski, it is good enough for me!
Gourmand 10/31/2006
Retro to 1948 with real fresh food. Scriptures on the cups a la Alaska Airlines, with their verse on the food tray papers. I love it. It is reFRESHing in this day and age of CorporoFascism , greed and moral depravity. God bless these folks. I first visited in AZ and I wish they come to Texas, although they probably don't because these nice folks wouldn't like this crooked state.
hotgirl4daddy 08/28/2006
freakin' awesome! best burgers above all.
mrfurious 08/08/2006
i wouldn't call it the best (i gave that to Original Tommy's) but the food is good, the shakes are better, and the place has a secret menu that puts the other fast food chains to shame.
LadyJesusFan77 7 06/27/2006
It's okay, but it's no better than some of the other places I've been. By the way, I was rating the food. The only thing that would be outstanding would be the Scripture verses on the cups (as stated in the comment before mine), which would be a five. However, rating it on the food, I still go with my original rating.
chickgirl 06/15/2006
I love IN-and-Out!!!!!! Thee best burgers, fries, spread, shakes. So delicious..... Love that it glorifies God with the verses on the cups... It's surely a blessed place:)
MissPackRat4Je sus 06/05/2006
Their burgers are quite delicious, but they need a bigger selection on their menu. Maybe adding a few menu items that make use of hamburger (such as nachos, sloppy joes, etc.) would be helpful.
jimorama 06/05/2006
Dear God-Please tell the Snyder family to come to New England. No trip to El Lay is complete without a Double Double (animal style), real-milk chocolate shake, and somefresh cut fries. This place sends fast food to new heights. The religious crap on the cups needs to go tho.
mojo95 06/05/2006
God Bless

Had my first In-N-Out in the '50's at their first outlet in Baldwin Park, CA. Still the same great hamburger (Animal Style is the best)
badbearduke 05/16/2006
Yes, they do have a limited menu, but what they sell is AWSOME! WAY better than Jonny Rockets. I live on the east coast where they don't have any locations. Too bad, because East coasters are truly missing out on the best burger ever! I look forward to getting out to L.A. IN/OUT the first place I stop at after leaving LAX. I'll even pass up the meal on the flight for it!
DaPope 04/17/2006
greasy crap.gack inducing
minkey 03/26/2006
Great cheap burgers, shoestring fries, and a phenomenol strawberry shake. In-n-out for around $5.
funnn 03/04/2006
U east coasters r just jealous IN N OUT is da bomb! As a Californian, I seriosly am not going to an east coast school cuz I would die w/o In N Out or decent Mexican food!
frank13215 02/15/2006
ok first things first lets start out with their "Menu" well theres not much of a menu but who doesnt know what In n out serves if you dont want an amazing burger dont go to in n out because youd be stupid to think that in n out serves anything other than burgers next being that the menu is limited given you may ask for more patties ask for a 4x4 animal style if your man enough their burgers are great their milk shakes are perfected and their soda well whats there to say about soda. the service id say is rather lengthy but hey its well worth the wait plus these burgers are fresh

LADYBLACKPEARL 01/16/2006
well i just came from their website since im on the east coast. It doesnt seem like anything spectacular and looks as if it lacks variety. By some of the reviews i read, I rhought it was gonna be this grand spot to check out lol, oh well so much 4 that.
kingguiness 11/03/2005
Some overhyped California-AZ phenomenon. As Kurt Cobain sang in 1991,"I wish I was like you, easily amused."
INOitALL 10/30/2005
OK, for years I heard people rave about it and then I finally got to try it and it stunk.
MrBill 10/05/2005
Menu ? What menu ? You can have a burger, fries, either or both. Period. Small army of kids in 50's malt-shop white uniforms work in he back assembly line to get your over-rated burger and fries out to ya in 15 minutes if you're having a good day. The food is passable, but I just dont see what the fuss is all about. If you're starving, or you are diabetic and need your food on the same calendar day. go somewhere else.
slimomar 10/04/2005
in n out burger is the baest food ive ever tasetd if i can eat in n out burger every day breakfast lunch and dinnar for the rest of my life i would
Optimus Prime 09/02/2005
The best hamburger chain anywhere. One of the things I miss most about living in California. Burgers, fries, milkshakes are all awesome. If you're going to California (there's also a few in Nevada and Arizona), you have to stop and try a double double.
Menzie Overton 09/02/2005
In-N-Out Burger has to be the best fast food chain ever. I am from Virginia, and when I go to California the first place I go is In-n-Out. There is nothing like their double double with cheese animal style. I wish one would come to the east coast. I only get out there once a year, but when I do I live at In-n-Out burger.
sfalconer 08/31/2005
They have great burgers but their frys are an aquired taste. The menu is limited but again they do have great burgers.
GB4Life 08/29/2005
The best fast food I have ever ate. The burgers blow away everyone else, and the fries accually taste like potatoes
timd67 08/23/2005
Our road-trips always require a stop at In-N-Out. The burgers are delicious and the service is fast and incredibly friendly. Long lines but they move quickly. The most satisfying post-skiing meal there is!
minancy 08/11/2005
I have heard a lot about In-N-Out over the past few years and finally had a burger last month while vacationing in California (I am from Michigan, no In-N-Out here). My boyfriend and I - we are in our EARLY 40s, no kids here! - only had single hamburgers and Cokes (no fries) and we found the hamburgers wonderful! The onion made the burger!!! The only reason for the 4? Not sure if the burgers were just plain good or because it was late (after 10:00pm), we were really, really hungry, or on vacation. Next time I am in CA, I will definately try In-N-Out again and then decide if they are really a 5!
kkii 08/05/2005
Verry good food probably the healthiest and cleanist fast food out there I do not like fast food I mean it is ok but just never liked it but this is good
RoadhouseRay 07/07/2005
Closest to my memories of a great burger, fries, and milkshake from growing up in the 50's.
