The Canadians are invading. TD Bank and now Tim Hortons. The coffee is really good for a chain. The cheese croissants are fantastic...

A lot of Tim Hortons have got to learn there should be a time limit to leave donuts on the shelf. They may think they're saving money passing stale crap off on the customer instead of tossing them out. But many of those customers won't be coming back again.

I do believe that Tim Hortons has to go back to the basics, since this company has expanded the size of their products have not. The coffee is not as good as it used to be, and their muffins are so small, and I have noticed that they don't seem to be cooked in the center. I have started to patronize Country Style, great coffee and large fritters and muffins, maybe its time for a change Canada. Tom M

I work at Timmies. I actually enjoy my job. I work with good people, reasonable management and supervisors, and the job itself is not too hard, and certainly not unpleasant. I work, however, for minimum wage. Let me break it down for you all. I get paid enough to: serve you coffee, serve donuts, make sandwiches, keep the store clean, wear an ugly uniform, fill orders correctly 99% of the time, and fix any order that I don't fill correctly the first time with a smile and profuse appologies, etc. I do not get paid enough to be treated like crap, yelled at, and I certainly do not get paid enough to be perfect. This whole tea "controversy" is absurd. Steeped tea is the Tim Hortons' specialty. We assume that you want steeped tea if you come to Timmies and ask for tea. Mention a bag, and we know you want bagged tea. "Bag in" (still in the tea), "bag out" or bag on the side" is enough. Our food is never stale. We are inspected by "mystery shoppers", and the coffee has to be dumped down the sink 20 minutes after it's made and the donuts eight hours after they are made or the store owner can lose the franchise. We know coffee and tea better than you do. You may know your order better than we do (especially if it's weird, ie 1/4 cream, 2.5 sweetners [people who ask minimum wage workers to put half a sweetner in their coffee go to hell, btw]), so be clear and patient when you order. But we're not crazy for assuming that you want cream in your tea. Most people want cream in their tea. I even clarify, "is that double double with milk or with cream in your tea?" and about 75% of the time, it's cream people want. We can't recycle. Most municipalities don't accept recyclables from businesses. I'm not sure why, but it has nothing to do with us. We sell some items in much larger quantities than others (no one eats sour cream plain donuts), but we also sell freakish amount of certain products on some days, and I'm not sure why. We'll sell an unexpected amout of dutchies all at once, and so run out, and that's just one of those weird things, but why the hell would you be surprised that we run out of popular things like white buns or chocolate chip muffins? If we get unexpectedly busy, we sell a lot and can't keep up... Because we keep our batches small to ensure freshness! McDonald's never runs out of burger buns, because they don't make them a dozen times a day to keep them as fresh as possible. If you go through drive-thru and get the wrong coffee, most likely, we didn't make it wrong, we handed you the wrong one. It's an easy mistake to make when you hand out hundreds of coffees a day. It's pretty hard to accidentally accept a large instead of an extra large if you only have one coffee to worry about. Think about it. We don't carry extra-large china mugs. No Tims carrys them. They don't exist. Criticize any of my coworkers for their ethnicity, and I will bitch you out. That's unacceptable. If you don't like immigrants, don't live in Canada. I have in the past, and will not hesitate to again in the future, tell you to, "Get the hell out of my drive-thru, and out of my country. No. No coffee for you. Go home and make your own goddamn coffee. Better yet, go to hell." It's a sad, sad society we live in when people think that they can treat anyone as horribly as my coworkers and I have been treated. The $1.40 you pay for your coffee does not entitle you to treat me like crap.

I currently work at a Tim Hortons, and I'm having a great laugh at Peoples comments. Sorry if you've every had an employee give you attitude, it's probably because you we're ignorant to them or the prior person was. We are only human and can only take so much. We don't aprriciate customers yelling at us because the customer prior to you held us up, or you have you cell phone glued to your head and you can't tell the person on the other end to shut up for to seconds, and just because it is a drive thru does not mean it's the faster way it just means your to lazy to come in like every other customer before you while the store front is completly empty and you could of come in and been out in no time. Also for the people complaining about the steep tea, get over it like everyone else has, we still have bagged tea but almost everyone perfers the steeped over the bag, so get over it and drink it or ask for a freakin bag.

Consistently AWFUL. I was appalled the first time I stopped by early one morning for a box of raised sugar glazed donuts to treat our computer class. My classmates thought what a great idea, but they were STALE! I have never purchased a fresh sugar glazed donut at Tim Horton's. They should NOT be permitted to allege always fresh when always STALE is the truth. I should have learned my lesson, but a few weeks ago, I was pushing my twin grandbabies in their stroller and didn't have the stamina to go farther, so I thought I'd give Tim Horton's another try. I picked donut holes for the toddlers. They were just as HARD and STALE as all Tim Horton donuts I tried before. The babies wouldn't eat them. Tim Horton's holds the record in my book as the only donut shop I know that NEVER has fresh donuts. My message to Tim Horton's is: THROW OUT STALE DONUTS!! Why pass them off on trusting customers? That is SO WRONG! Just throw them away! I searched online for Tim Horton's SUCKS and found http://lachlan.bluehaze.com.au/chalk_river/tim_hort ons_crappy_donuts.html Check it out. The Tim Horton's on N. High Street, north of Arcadia, in Columbus, Ohio 43202 (Clintonville) should CLOSE. Try Buckeye Donuts on campus where freshness is a tradition.

Good coffee, and decent food. I don't know what people are talking about with stale donuts, all lcations either make or have them delivered fresh twice daily. The toasted bagels are good for a breakfast snack. Sandwiches are a little pricey for what you get though. The coffee is very good. It's just quality, regular coffee without all the fancy-shmancy sizes, names and flavours. People wouldn't be lined up out the door every morning if the coffee was bad. Consistant, tried and true, at a fair price. If your into the whole double-tall-non-fat-mocha-cocoa-frappa-cappa-al-pacino-latte type thing, you might not like it. If you just want a good, fresh cup o' joe then Timmy's is the place to go.

People, I understand about the coffee and teas that they serve, but out of all the comments I read, ALMOST NOBODY ever said anything about the entrees (other than coffee, tea, donuts and bagels) they serve. I did try one two years ago and the sandwich they served was much more delicious than Subway, Blimpie and Quizno's. I went again and ate an etoufee. (Both were dine-ins in Canada.) I praise the hard work that they do for foods, but not for prepared drinks. I can guess that it was the merger between them and Wendy's that made them change their acts on service. The donuts were fresh and delicious with any meal. I would go there again- not at breakfast. They would be better off being partially fast food and a culinary restaurant together. I may pretty soon go to the US restaurants and see if they are equal to where the chain originated. Now of course, they serve good sanwiches, right? Please, stop complaining just about breakfast coffee and tea on this chain and give input on on other meals they serve! I'm sure you've been there after eleven o'clock!

Cry me a frickin river over steeped tea. For God's sake, its like 30 cents....are you going to die?! All you complainers should simply make your own steeped tea...such an easy way to save money and save stress over complaining about the high cost of steeped tea at your local tim hortons. Im sure they have bagged tea lying around somewhere! Ahhhhhhhhhhh

I don't know if anyone has ever had a bad experince at a Tim Horton's drivethrough. But I did. I work 2 jobs so I stop at. The Tim Horton's in Wingham Ont,It was at night on my way home. And when I stopped that night The girl that took my oder made it but insted of staing at the window and giving it to me. She left to go and talk to some of her friends that were at the counter.I sat there for 5min. waiting for one cup of coffee. And then the young lad that came to the window after that thought that I was there for a sandwitch that the car behind me had odered.

I have seen several comments on the price increase surrounding Tim Horton's tea... first off, the new STEEPED tea is absolutely awful... it taste like the tea my mother-in-law leaves on her counter in her tea pot all day... secondly, I absolutely refuse to pay $1.50 for an extra large tea, when I used to pay about $1... how can tea go up 50% in price.. whoever is making these decisions at Hortons should be ashamed of themselves... from the comments I have read here, and the people I meet and speak to in general, you have lost alot of business because of your sensless gouging...

Glad to be Former Employee. I worked at a Tims in Kitchener for nearly 5 years. I was finally able to quit ('96) after finding the energy to get another job. To this day it is the worst job I have ever had (and I'm now 44). The pay was barely enough to survive on - and the majority of customers were rude and insensitive! for some reason some customers thought they could make comments and ask questions that were not only rude, but at times personal. Judgements were made with insinuations that since you were working at Tims - you were automatically uneducated and somehow unfit for common courtesy. Little do those inconsiderates realise - most were using the job for no more than a stepping stone to better... so many of us were in College or Universiy - on our way to much a much better paying and respected job - a better life than what I asumme most of the rude customers were living (I'm assuming this by what they could afford to pay for a cup of coffee) You get what you pay for so do you really have the right to be so picky? It's almost laughable! Where I worked we were allowed two fifteen minute breaks in an eight hour period (permission from the Labour bBourd) and since you were paid for those breaks they could tell you where to spend them - no going outside - even out back by the garbage (so if you smoked - too bad). Most of us were extremely fit from running around getting the perfect order for the often overweight, demanding, cheap customer. Again... it was almost laughable... The customers that were polite... thank you... you helped make my days the least bit tolerable. For the rest that liked to complain in a raised voice... perhaps practice yelling so you can do so without splattering your spit all over... the worker wasn't winking at you after all (just clearing her eye of your splatter!

I love Tim Hortons, the food is excellent and so are the drinks. I only have one complaint, and this doesn't go for all locations. The pricing for steeped tea and bag tea. Now apparently the price for steeped is .24cents more than bagged, but I continually get charges the higher amount for bagged. It doesn't make sense.

Could the service at Tim Hortons be any worse? Furthermore - steeped tea? That's a sorry attempt at trying to rip people off if I ever heard one. First off - the definition of 'steeped is as follows: To soak in liquid in order to cleanse, soften, or extract a given property from. To infuse or subject thoroughly to. To make thoroughly wet; saturate. That covers ALL tea. Secondly, as I believe we've all noted, why would anyone pay more for more water? Tim Hortons is garbage.

I think people are missing the bigger issue here. Does any one realize that Tim hortons does NOT buy fair trade coffee? Shamefully, and selfishly, I work there. I simply needed a job for university tuition, and for that I am nearly forced to ignore my beliefs and say here is your coffee that was brought to you by starving people and controlled by the government.

I'm not even going to bother complaining. There's certainly enough of that to go around here already. I just thought I'd let the tea drinkers here know that you still have some options. After complaining to head office, I found out that all stores are still required to have the old tea bags on hand if people request them, so if that's what you want, just ask for a tea with the tea bag, and you'll get the tea you're used to. Unfortunately the new price hike is still a problem though. However, if you want to save some money and don't mind doing some work yourself, you can also now buy those tea bags. Just ask for the black box tea, and I think it's about $2 for 20 bags. Oh, I do have one question though for all the Tim Hortons' employees who may read this... Why do you seem to think cream the default for tea? Nobody drinks tea with cream. If someone asks for a double-double tea, they mean 2 MILK, 2 sugar. Are you trained to use cream unless people ask for milk, even in tea? Someone needs to tell management that's just not how it works. :)

I have to add my disappointment regarding the new tea at Tim's. Extra large English Breakfast, Double-Double has been my saviour and treat for my three years of University. When I started to bang my head against my desk, it was time to walk over to the Student Union building, put down a loonie and find my sanity. I can't believe the nerve of decreasing their costs and increasing the price to customers by 50% and then putting out an advertising campaign trying to convince you that this is good. It's now the same price for me to go to the Starbucks on Campus with the comfy couches and quiet atmosphere and a discount for bringing in my own mug.

Every Tim's have the same problem. Tables are never cleaned, Donuts displays are open therefore flies and people spread their germs mch easier. No paper towels in the wash rooms just blowers, you pull the door open with the use of the door handle, many people do not wash their hands after using the facility. Theirfore another way of spreading germs. All Tim's should be run the same way, every store has their own way of selling the product.

I am currently a Tim Hortons Employee in Windsor Ontario. I would first like to say that im sorry for every wrong coffee or bagel you've gotten in your life time from one of our stores. Now, with that out of the way i'd like to tell you what its like on our side of the window/counter. Imagine having to hear all the people talking all around you and tring to listen to one person over a head set with minimal volume and trying to push the corresponding buttons on a machine. Mind you there isn't a button for everything..we have to wait for a menu to load to enter the type of creamcheese you want...while you continue to ramble on about the kind of timbits you want in your medium size timbit WHICH FOR THE RECORD DOES NOT EXIST!! no where on the menu board does it say small medium or large...so take one more breath and say the number in the box. Next..for you people on a strict time schedule to get to work for 8 o'clock and have been up getting ready for the last hour or so maybe...remember i've already been working for atleast 2 hours and have to keep our drive thru times under 30 seconds to keep managment off our backs. So while your complaining about getting a wrong coffee or ur orders REPEATED wrong...think about this...your sitting on your ass waiting for food...when im running around making sure that there is enough coffee for the people in front of you,for you and after you.(it takes four minutes to brew a pot of coffee so if in the middle of making YOUR order i decide to put another pot on so the rest of the world can have coffee shut up and don't complain cuz odds are the coffee your drinking just finished brewing and if i didn't put it on in the middle of sumone's order you would have been pissed to have to sit there and wait) And meanwhile your sitting in your car waiting...sitting down listening to your favorite song on the radio. In my personal opinion anyone who complains about the service at tim hortons can damn well make their own coffee at HOME and make their own MUFFINS and COOKIES at home..its not tough people..you can buy coffee cans at tim hortons and there are plenty of grocery stores that sell cookie and muffin mix. I espcially hated the day i came during shift change and took the place of sumone who was leaving and the drive thru was really busy and i was screamed at by a lady because she waited in line for 3 minutes..for a single coffee...i told her i just got on shift and that i was very sorry for her inconveinence..she sped off. My personal favorite is being called off of my break to pour some ungrateful customer a coffee..you lazy people get up 10 minutes earlier make yourself soem coffee and put it in a travel mug and spend less time complianing about our service. Thanks very much and have a nice day.

Since the introduction of Tims steeped tea along with the price increase I'll no longer be buy my coffees or teas there anymore. I'll like to know how a company can justify almost a 50% price increase in tea to the consumer? It is only hot water. Tim's cost for tea couldn't have jump 50%. To me it is just another sign that the dam Americans want to make Canada and all our natural resources their own. Tim Horton use to be as Canadian as hockey is to Canada.

I have worked at 2 Tim Hortons locations, the first being in Deep River Ontario, which I quit in the year 2003, and the second I am currently in the stage of quitting is in Brampton (near Bramalea Transit Centre) Ontario. To all of the people, especially customers who complain about the service, I say, let me see you do it. I work 2 jobs, one, at a law firm, and the other, of course, at Tim Hortons. The amount of disrespect one gets at Tim Hortons as an employee is DISGRACIOUS. The comments that make me want to quit most are from people who say.. MY ICECAP ISN'T CREAMY ENOUGH or NO OTHER TIM HORTONS EXCEPT THIS ONE SCREWS UP MY ORDER. We work hard, for shitty pay so you can get your cheap $1.00 bagel. I am sick of it. At 18 years old and a university student, it disgusts me at the way NORMAL people treat employees there. WE ARE HUMAN TOO, so shut up and eat your food already, quit complaining. Its a fast food chian for God's sake. Your complaining over a 2$ purchase. I have better and more important things on my mind to make sure that your bagel is double toasted for your pleasure, im in university sheesh. Don't you have more important things to do? I am soo sick of management, and cheap owners, and horrible customers (BY THE WAY, to the lady called SPRUNGBREEZE-I took your order and you were yelling at me, not politely asking me to put them in two separate bags you ignorant slob, i would lov e to see you do my job!) , that I am actually writing a book about it, so please, any employees that have horror customer and management stories, please write to deliriouspreview@hotmail.com. I would love to include them in my book. On one other note, some customers are wonderful, but they are rare... really rare.

You know what... I read these comments on Tims and i agree with so many of them. I work for Tims and frankly, they don't pay you nearly enough to be doing what you have to do during your shift. We only make your coffees in the middle of your order so we don't forget about them later. I think some customers have to understand that we have like a million thing on our minds when we're working and it's hard to remember everything and make sure management doesn't get on our case because we didn't do something after they have asked us to do it. You have to be extrememly fast to work at tims to be any good at it and it takes most people a while to be good at working at Tims. There is so much to do in so little time. I know that's no excuse for poor service or mistakes but doesnt everyone make mistakes? I could make alist of probably at least 30 things we have to do each shift...along with serving customers. And there's so many mistakes you can make working at Tims like touching food by accident, touching your nose (god forbid it's itchy), forgetting to put that extra sugar on the side, overcharging, forgetting to make that icecap with chocolate milk...the list goes on. Sometimes it can just be slave labour and people have bad days sometimes. I have to agree with many of the comments that have been posted because i know ppl at tims do do things the wrong way sometimes. But i assure you, we don't do it on purpose. Just give tims another chance or 2. We can only do so much. I can think of at least 15 regular customers that are in tims every day. Are there really that many people who will just stand for horrible service and food? Think about that one...

I never thought the day would come when I would not get excellent customer service at Tim Hortons, especially at the up-scale location on 23rd Avenue and Rabbit Hill Road in Edmonton. At about 4:20 p.m. on July 8th, 2004, we stopped at this location for coffee and muffins. I waited several minutes for service. When I was finally recognized, part of my order of one x-large coffee, black and one large coffee with cream and sugar was taken and read back to me completely opposite - one x-large coffee with cream and sugar and one large coffee, black. I corrected your server. The remainder of my order: one fruit explosion muffin and one blueberry muffin was keyed in and repeated back, in error - one blueberry muffin and one bran muffin. I corrected your server. I indicated that all of this was NOT TO GO and that I wished the muffins to be heated. She then proceeded to get the muffins and repeated my order (in error again!) indicating that I wanted a bran muffin (which I did not). I also tried to order a medium order of timbits. She asked me what kind of 40 (forty) I wanted. I corrected her again as the medium order is for 20 (twenty). I then paid for the order. She then retreived the ordered muffins and placed them on one plate and put them in the microwave oven and waited. In the meantime, unknown to me a second server had placed the coffees ordered on the counter to my far right. When the muffins had been heated, she gave them to me - no additional plate offered. As I did not see the filled coffee orders, I asked about them and was told they were on the side counter. The large coffee was in a glass coffee mug and the X-large coffee was in a paper cup with a lid. When I inquired why I had not received a coffee mug, I was told that x-large coffees were not served in coffee mugs because they didn't have any. I took my order to our table and decided that I wanted a glass coffee mug for my coffee and returned to the counter to obtain one. The server gave me one and after I was seated and about to pour my coffee in the mug, I noticed that the mug was dirty. I returned to the counter for a clean cup. I was given another which was also dirty and another which was not totally clean either and told that they are clean - all of them are like that and that's how they come out of the machine. I couldn't believe a clean cup would be that hard to come by. Obviously, the word 'clean' has a different conotation in every culture and seeing how she was from perhaps, the Phillipines or India, the standards she is accustomed to are not the standards to which I am used to being Canadian and of a middle eastern European heritage. The manager, stood right beside here at this point and did not seem to be bothered that there may be perhaps ONE disgruntled customer at the counter. Helpful comments to have satisfied customers is to: - have orders taken accurately - train your people - to start with, perhaps an English as a Second Language Class certificate of completion. - train your people on customer service - have a 'mystery shopper' frequent your shops - AND HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR STAFF THAT DO NOT TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY THEIR GIVEN OF PROVIDING THE VERY BEST THAT YOUR COMPANY ADVERTISES. Please respond.

Their donuts always sucked, now they are freezing the dough and they are even worse if possible...it's fat Canadians buying the coffee that keeps that place going. By the by, I drink my coffee black and Timmie's is only average joe. It's all you blobs out their with the double cream. Next time you go in, ask for your cream on the side and have a look at it. It's been mixed with so much sugar and still has so much fat in it that it's like lumpy yogurt. People that by Timmie's coffeee don't want to drink coffee, they want cocoa

Time Hortons has recently changed they way they serve peach juice and iced tea. These drinks now come in cans and plastic bottles which is wonderful for the environment and I salut them except one problem I can't find a recycling bin to put them in. I ask where I can put them and they say in the garbage. Call me crazy but that is just plain stupid. I hope they sort through the garbage and take them out but I highly doubt it.

I have a problem when placing drive-thru orders. They very often get my order wrong--and it's gets very frustrating... to go back especially when you're on a tight schedule. Like today I ordered my lunch with a donut and they forgot the donut. I understand that the drive-thru orders are busy but it's very important that they get the order right! They should confirm your order at the beginning and before you pay.

I went to a new Tim Hortons in Redcliff, Alberts. I am a Tim Hortons fan buys all my doughnets and coffee there butttttttt since this new one opened up i have gone there 4 times and 3 different times they have ran out of things like for eg the first time they ran out of hot chocolate like what Tim Hortons runs out of Hot Chocolate, then i went there and they were out of chocolate chip muffins and then i went the last time and they ran out of white bread. Well i think it is time to try another place i am sooooooo mad i cannot even tell you. Tim Hortons is going down as bad as Mcdonalds.

Just for everyone's information, ALL of Tim Horton's products have come frozen for years, it was only a matter of time when their donuts would become too. Saves on money and you, the customer, get fresher donuts more regularly (trust me, you can't taste the difference!)

Tim's is the only place to drink coffee. However the major problem with Tim's is that they should only serve coffee and donuts at the drive thru. The whole purpose of the drive tru is speedy service when someone orders soup &sandwich they really hold up the people who want to get in and out.

The best coffee, still worth the trip!!! Since they changed the donuts to those prefab slugs of starch, they are just terrible. No flavour, texture, not even real. Especially the apple fritters. This was the reason I would come there everyday - great donuts; great coffee. Now it is down to great coffee, I don't buy their donuts anymore... I'll go to a real donut place for donuts now. Hope Tim's doesn't lose all their coffee business because of the bad donuts - I would miss their coffee too if they went belly up because of BAD IMITATION DONUTS.

Recently open store next to my office in Trenton, Ontario sells stale doughnuts 4 of 5 working days of the week. Complained more than once and told to return them for replacement. Unsatisfactory. Fix it or Close it. Worst Tim Horton I have ever visited and that includes a huge number.

South Edmonton Common Tim Hortons 9:00am Order Extra Large Regular Coffee, double cream, double sugar. Server repeated order back to me. Get Large Regular Coffee with double cream, no sugar. 3rd time in last 3 visits to this location that my coffee size has been screwed up. That's a 100% goof up rate as far as my experience is concerned. It's always more polite to ask for the tip rather than stealing it!

I've been to canada 2 times for my husband and my brother-in-laws hockey tortaments. We made that we spent EVERY morning at Tims! We are hooked and long for them to come further south. We live in Southern NJ and hate Dunkin Doughnuts, once you have Tims nothing else will do!

I think Tim Horton's donuts are OK . . . but Krispy Kreme donuts are great! I know there are Krispy Kreme's back east, but we don't have any out west yet (have to keep going to the States!) - but they're coming! If I had my choice - it would be Krispy Kreme no question.
