Jarhead did a great job of showing the reality of being a Marine. It showed how the Marines were built up to be great soldiers and to have an incredible bond between each other. Even in the desert, they stuck to the principal of work hard, party harder. However, it also captured how their life together is stressful as they all react to the world turning as they are away.

My favourite movie of 2005. Raw, real and extremely well acted, this was a forgotten movie by many people. I say it is the best Desert Storm related movie yet to be released, and one of the few true depictions of soldiers in war, and pre-war. Obviously, this film is not for everyone. But some of the scenes are so vivid, the dialogue is true to life and the acting is so good it deserved far more recognition, my favourite being Peter Saarguards role. Not a conventional war movie, and if you liked the book, youll like the movie.
