Billy stuck to his convictions through the years and a shifting political backdrop in the UK, which swung from the Thatcher years and the miners' strike through the new hope of Labour and the subsequent disillusionment of New Labour. He is ever the optimist, a very engaging and refreshing performer, and his sense of indignance at social injustice has not waned over the past 2 decades.
