 | knowhim (3) 07/19/2006 | I rated Melchizedek with a 5 star because he is a type of Christ, and Christ is the savior of the world.
..............
Just where Abram stands as the most striking character, Melchizedek enters and towers above him.
What better type or symbol could there be of the absolute, the everlasting, the divine, high priesthood and kingship than that phenomenal figure of Melchizedek? He comes out of the invisible, timeless eternity of the past; he belongs to the timeless assured eternity of the future; he is High Priest forever.

Melchizedek is a type of Christ; Abraham is never taken as a type of Christ, he is a type of the perfectly actual children of God. Melchizedek represents the Incarnation of God; Abraham represents the life of faith in the God Who became Incarnate. Christ in me and I in Christ; Christ the Lord and Christ the Servantall become simple when we understand the relationship of Melchizedek and Abraham.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 07/02/2006 | Unfortunately, not a lot is known about him therefore I dont have a real feel for this awesome Bible character. But all as I know is that Melchizedek is possibly one of the greatest humans to ever live. In fact, he was so great that Abram (Abraham) tithed to him and it could even be considered that when you think about it, since Abraham had the tribe of Levi (priestly tribe) in his blood (DNA), it is like even the priests gave him a tenth, and people gave their tithes to the priests too (the Levites). So for a priest to tithe to a priest, this priest must be pretty good! What I do know of him is that he was a very good man, in fact, he was the High Priest of Genesis (or the only one mentioned). He was righteous in all his ways ie everything he did and said was right, he was pleasing in Gods sight (even in the pre-Jesus days to) and would have been a very dignified and wise person. He was so dignified that Abram, the patriarch had a lot of respect for him and gave him a tithe. He was also dignified because he was a king (king of Salem). He was so respected that he is a legend. The common Jew even way after his time knew about him, and he was even respected by the Jews 2000 years ago. He was so respected that in order for us to understand how great Jesus is, the author of Hebrews showed us that Jesus is even better then Melchizedek. There must have been a lot more to this person then is recorded in the Bible the fact that he was such a legend. Another really interesting thing about Melchizedek was that his name actually means king of peace or king of righteousness. This indicates that he was a very peaceful man who loved peace and hated violence. He would have been slow to anger and would have been the first one to break up an argument or fight. He would have had a comforting presence since he loved peace so much. Although I dont know much about him, I trust the Word of Gods assessment on him and say that he is a very great man whom I respect too.
