Good solid name. Worked well enough for six English kings and a number of American presidents. If you insist on using a nickname and you don't like Jim or Jamie you could always go with Jay or Jake.

I love the name James but dislike all the possible nicknames also. Nicknames really arent as prevalent as they used to be and I haven't heard of a Jim or Jimmy in an elementary school for a while so I think it definitely might be possible to have him just be James nowadays.

James? Jimmy ? Boring. Find a name that has character and distiction.

I think James is a great name, but my wife does not like the nickname Jimmy at all. To top it all of, my mom says she would like to call him Jamie, which would be even worse of a nickname. I think its a good name, but I don't think we are sold on it because not everybody would be cool with calling him James.
