 | Drummond (53) 02/21/2006 | Autistic writer Donna Williams wrote in her autobiography, "One of the ways of making things seem to slow down was to blink or turn the ligh on and off really fast. If you blinked really fast, people behaved like old frame-by-frame movies; you got the effect of strobe lights without the control being taken out of your hands."
This gave her a sense of detachment, as if she was watching reality instead of partaking in it. Probably has a similar effect of a strobelight, discussed elsewhere in this list.
