I've had one of these pits for ten years, and it is still going strong with lots of years left in it. I have smoked brisket, ribs, ham, sausages and various aother meats at one time or another, and while I do claim credit for halfway knowing what I'm doing, this pit makes a difference. The built in shelf helps though it could be a little bigger, I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. The wood box has ample room. When used as a grill, it falls short when compared to a Webers, though you can grill on it. I've grilled burgers and dogs, carne asada, and chicken and it takes a little work because the grill sits a little too close to the charcoal and it is not adjustable, at least the one I have isn't, maybe that has changed. It's strength lies in it's smoking abilities and that is what I'm rating..
