DONT watch BBC America. Truely awful channel with multiple repeats of exceptionally boring programs. IF they bring back EastEnders, and NOT as a pay per view channel, then I may recommend them again. Until then - boycott.
dimesy1 11/03/2003
all repeats all the time
jamie007 11/03/2003
WORST WORST WORST WORST WORST CHANNEL IN THE HISTORY OF BROADCASTING
Delilahfemale 11/03/2003
They have consistantly lowered the level of good entertainment over the last several yrs...cancelling Eastenders was the final straw, why should i pay an extra 25$ month for a line up of mainly three different shows, a night...and the same shows(episodes)every day. It's insulting how they have insideously removed any decent veiwing only to be replaced with the same four episodes of changing rooms, ground force and what not to wear! Do they honestly believe that intelligent people will stand for it? Well notthis one! I've cancelled my cable totally, and gone with a satellite company in order to get decent brit television.
Cutmart 11/03/2003
This station has gone downhill fast over the last year and is now unwatchable since it stopped showing EastEnders. How anyone can say The Office and Graham Norton are great shows is beyond me. As for the endless repeats of makeover shows ..... it's all been said before. The management in BBC UK should feel downright ashamed that their name is being mis-used in this way.
manncaro 11/03/2003
Just WHO is watching BBCA anymore???? We have seen everything on the channel a hundred times. When we can repeat, verbatim, the script for Keeping Up Appearances and Coupling, it is time to pull the plug. The execution of Eastenders was the straw that broke the camel's back. NO more BBCA, no more Discovery Communications channels. If there was a rating lower than 1, that would be my choice.
mag_lass 11/02/2003
I recently cancelled my subscription to BBCA after 5 years. BBCA now basically has 4 shows that are repeated adnauseam throughout the week. Don't waste your money on this channel.
bobinnewmexico 11/02/2003
The saddest channel in the U.S.With such a fantastic array of original material available it has chosen to market itself as a sales vehicle to showcase a few select shows of appeal & interest to the major networks. Has lost complete touch with its original core audience, now airs only one non-repetitious show per day.....The News. Its programmers are so inept that they hide behind flawed data while repeating shows upto 28 times. A very shabby ,second rate operation.
digdog 11/02/2003
What happened?! From the best channel on satellite to the worst. The Eastenders was the only reason to watch. Now I can't be bothered. I will cancel my subscription.
sandtone 11/02/2003
BBC America used to be my most watched channel, interesting and intelligent programming. Over the past 8 months though, it has "dumbed down" it's programming. All that's available now are gardening shows, and "how to" shows - and don't worry if you miss one, stay tuned it will repeat within the next few hours, sometimes up to 4 repeats of the SAME SHOW in a 24 hour period! I watched this channel for "Eastenders" and BBC World News. Now only the news is left because the programming director cancelled "Eastenders" - which , by the way, just swept the National Soap Awards in UK! The reason given for the cancellation was that not enough people were watching. Well they just lost another viewer, I can watch both the BBC World news and Eastenders on PBS, albeit EE is 4 years old, at least I can still get my fix. Get real BBCA, get a new programming director, bring back the GOOD shows like Red Cap, Casualty and Eastenders you might win back some viewers, in the meantime RIP BBCA.
LondonJules 11/02/2003
The lineup one night last week was literally: Changing Rooms, House Invaders, Ground Force, Ground Force, Ground Force, Changing Rooms, Changing Rooms. Am I the only one seeing a problem with this? And how are we frauds? Because we're not obnoxious "we-are-always-right" constant raters? We do not register more than once and have every right to give our opinions now you just try and stop us.
Caregvr1 11/02/2003
It's all repeats,repeats, repeats on this channel....24/7!
misslisalynn1 11/02/2003
I used to love this channel, I would watch this channel more than any other until they stopped running EastEnders. It was the one show I knew I hadn't seen before.
bluesusa 11/02/2003
Since BBC America cancelled Eastenders, their lineup has become the same tired crap
msanglophile 11/02/2003
BBC America has betrayed us! They lured us using the "BBC" in their name. We thought we would get the same high quality but instead quality slowly gave way to the cheap and repetitive. The last straw came when they cancelled Eastenders. Excellent, fresh drama simply had no place on their new schedule. Atrocious behaviour on an atrocious network!
kmm59us 11/02/2003
It's not BBC anything, it's the REPEAT Channel.
absom4 11/02/2003
Once upon a time this was truly representative of the BBC network It is now a disgrace!
77starborn77 11/02/2003
terrible excuse for a network - yes I adore watching the same episodes of Changing Rooms over and over and over again - NOT! And email responses from BBCA to me regarding this and the cancellation of Eastenders have been laughable and mediocre at best. I am done with BBCA until they bring back Eastenders!!
meryionydd 11/02/2003
No EastEnders!!
Dneice 11/02/2003
Have canceled all of their good programming and left mostly DIY shows (isn't there already another channel devoted to just that?) Have greatly enjoyed BBC-A in the past, but now it is mostly rubbish and reruns.
mllelarisa 11/02/2003
This channel is exciting for about a week, after that you've seen everything they have to offer a half dozen times and it's boooooring. The *only* reason I would watch BBCA (and I don't) is for "The Office", but I suggest you get that on DVD so you can watch it uninterrupted; BBCA has WAY too many and really annoying commercials. I used to suffer through BBCA because they showed EastEnders, but now they don't even do that... so there's no reason for me to tune in to Channel 226 anymore! One more commercial for "What Not to Wear" and "Changing Rooms" would do my head in anyway... Byebye BBCA.
BIGBABY 11/02/2003
This is why RIA sucks now. Look at all of these frauds on this forum.
Laurel 11/01/2003
I was so looking forward to having BBC represented in the U.S. BBCA has proven to be a disappointment. It's principally a DIY channel. I had hoped for an assortment of British programming, but that is not what it is. Mostly current fare and do it yourself such as endless repeats of "Changing Rooms" and "Ground Force."
IleneS 11/01/2003
Once upon a time, BBC America was terrific. It was the place to see the latest in British TV (or repeats of old favorites). For the past year or so, though, the channel has devolved into an amalgam of DIY and "reality" shows, some of them just stupid and some downright nasty. In addition, the show repeats over and over and over the same episodes of the same tired, trite, stale, old shows. The only thing worth watching was EastEnders, the most popular show in England. Then, without warning and with only the most specious and insulting excuses, BBCA cancelled EE. I, for one, do not watch any more. And, with the exception of EE, I do not miss it at all.
tottenham 11/01/2003
put eastenders back on
DaphneBroon 11/01/2003
BBC America is the bastard child of the BBC. The real BBC doesn't give a hoot about it. It's just a dreadful example of the BBC. This channel needs to be kicked off for showing the most boring shows. Who is paying these people? I can no longer watch this channel since they did away with the only decent show on there. The BBC should not be affiliated with this channel.
exfan 11/01/2003
(Lotsacats) This used to be a great channel. I watched it more than any other channel. But about a year ago they started repeating a lot of shows over and over again. That was bearable because they had the best show on t.v. still showing new episodes...that was Eastenders. But without any prior warning they cancelled this show then to add insult to injury deleted website comments from disgruntled viewers, did not allow us to air our opinions and treated the many thousands of fans with total disregard. For that reason I am an exfan of this channel and will not be viewing them again.
WendyB6489 11/01/2003
If there was anything lower than 1 star I would give it to BBC-A. They may as well rename their channel "The repeat Channel" or "HGTV UK" as Ground Force/Changing Rooms/House Invaders etc etc are repeated day after day and night after night. But to treat the EASTENDERS FANS like garbage by cancelling their flagship show is absolutely appalling. Two days notice they gave us, and then fobbing us off with lies about Neillson ratings. I needed wading boots up to the thighs to wade through all their bullshit. I have boycotted their channel and all the other Discovery channels too. I`ve blocked them all from my DirecTV and told DirecTV why I was doing so. If I hadn`t just recently signed up for the multi room package for a year I would have no qualms whatsoever in cancelling DirecTV and going back to basic cable even though I hate Charter cable. I`ve also boycooted all their advertisers including Kraft foods. Hell hath no fury like an EastEnders fan scorned and we will not give up the fight to bring EastEnders back to the fans.
Jeffreak 11/01/2003
endless re-runs of crap programs and they treat their loyal viewers poorly - DON'T WATCH IT!!!
superkjrm 11/01/2003
BBCAmerica is the worst channel on TV. They do not know anything about programming and care very little about their customers. They cancelled Eastenders without even a days notice. Please think twice before subscribing to this channel. J :-)
noe750 11/01/2003
Bloody Boring Crap, Actually! BBCA has deginerated into one of the worst tv networks. It is 60 hours of the same shows, repeated over and overa again. I used to watch it religiously but now I just turn it off. It is a network that appears to be wanting to commit suicide. It cancels decent programs, then goes out of its way to alienate its remaining viewers. It is a black mark on the BBC.
craig_c 11/01/2003
Since they canned EastEnders they have become the 'unwatched' channel in our house! Their endless, mindless repeats of make-over shows have to make BBCA the worst channel in America! No point in them being on the air in my opinion!!!!
scouser 11/01/2003
Why comment on a totally rubbish channel, it needs to go.
MustSeeEE 11/01/2003
What's with the repeats? How many times a week do they have to show Changing Rooms? I visit England and can hardly tear myself away from the television in the evenings because there are so many excellent programs on (in the UK). How did BBC America get to use that name? It implies: the best of British Television amd at least some quality and variety. BBC America-if your budget is that small that you can only afford a few, mediocre shows, give up your space on the airwaves and go into another business, maybe selling videos or books.
Traci Kowal 11/01/2003
I upgraded my satellite package to the higher tier just to get BBC America. I got BBC America just to be able to watch more up to date episodes of Eastenders. BBC America recently pulled the show at a moments notice, without any promotion of the show. Now all there is to watch are constant re-runs. I also used to like the show Changing Rooms, but they rarely show any new episodes! I'm so sick of watching the same shows over and over that I just eliminated BBCA from my menu...I tried to downgrade my satellite package to exclude this channel, but can't unless I eliminate the entire tier, which I will probably do. I don't know if BBCA has ever heard of "Overkill" where people eventually get sick of something that's played over and over and over? Well, they took the show changing rooms and overkilled it, and now I'm not the least bit interested in it anymore. It's sad, really sad.
vilegrrl 11/01/2003
The worst. How could they cancel East Enders but show Changing Rooms (which is such a bore) 100 times a week!?!?? Bring back East Enders!!!!!
pposterex 11/01/2003
When I heard that my cable company was adding BBC America to the digital package, I was overjoyed. Not only would I be able to see my beloved EastEnders, but I was going to see some of the best British TV around. In the beginning that was true, there were some quirky comedies, Top of the Pops and great dramas. BBCA was, for the most part, the only cable channel I watched. Then, slowly, the shows I had come to love had disappeared and all that was being shown were constant repeats of DIY shows and makeover shows. It was evident to me that the quality of shows was deteriorating while the quantity of the reruns was increasing ten fold. I was disappointed when EastEnders was relegated to a horrible Saturday timeslot (11am-1:30pm MT), but being a loyal fan I would watch when I could and I always taped it no matter what. Then came "Black Saturday", September 27, 2003. With no warning at all BBCA announces that this is the end of EastEnders!!! I was outraged, horrified and shocked! BBCA has treated the loyal fans of this show with contempt and total disrespect, deleting more than 15,000 postings on it's message boards. My digital cable box has gone back to my cable provider as I will no longer allow BBCA or any Discovery channels to be seen in my home. I refuse to pay any money to these companies or their advertisers until this program is returned to the airwaves. BBCA---CAN YOU HEAR US NOW??????
Walford 10/31/2003
BBCA is a disaster! They freely admit they are courting channel surfers and are not interested in loyal viewers. Consequently, one can find better representation of quality British programming on PBS, A&E, and Bravo. I was willing to support BBCA (and pay more in order to view it) as long as I thought they were trying. I can longer justify the expense. Unfortunately, I have never seen a better example of "dumbing-down". Shame on you, BBCA!
inarub 10/31/2003
Reruns ad infinitum of garbage interrupted incessantly by inane commercials. Don't deserve to be able to use the name BBC
nsneath 10/31/2003
It doesn't represent the BBC. Endless hours of rerun home improvement shows and it cancelled the only award winning show it carried .... Eastenders. It needs to understand its customers and focus on delivering first class British entertainment not recycled crap.
Shady123 10/31/2003
A Television Channel with BBC in it's name and not showing it's best award winning soap or rarely the best of British programming? I wonder if a McDonalds franchise could just sell Sushi!
Lorna 10/31/2003
This station cancels its best programs and then shows nothing but repeats, after repeats, after repeats. They have lost a loyal following due to their shabby treatment of their consumers when they cancelled Eastenders (pratically one of the only shows that wasn't repeated). They are no longer worth watching.
jonathan2 10/30/2003
The Coca Cola company had a winner in there product that is until some excutive made a dscision to change the taste, the company then lost millions and I'm sure that person no longer works for Coca Cola..... This is what is going on with BBC America. They have changed there product in CANCELLING EASTENDERS!!!! the best taste on the channel by far. The VP for programming DAVID BENARTH needs firing, or at the very least sent to some other obscure channel where he can't do much harm, because harm is what he has caused BBC America. BRING BACK EASTENDERS !!!!!
EmmaPeel007 10/30/2003
BBC America has become boring and predictable. The programming now panders to the braindead who enjoy watching endless repeats of DIY shows. EastEnders was loads of fun and truly represented a slice of life in Britain - not the characters mind you, but we could share in their national obsession. Canceling Easties was the final nail in the coffin for this channel.
phideaux 10/30/2003
I really do not understand BBC America, why bother calling yourself that name if you really are a Upgrade yourself and your house channel. When I think, hmmm, let me watch BBC America, I don't think of it for home improvements. I think of it for british comedy, drama. Sadly, that is all too lean on the bones of this channel. It seems like they found some good ratings with the Faking It reality shows, but I suspect they will alienate the potential audience for british fare with the constant repeats of pointless rubbish. I guess when all is said and done, the "America" in BBCA is stronger than the "BBC" part. It's a shame because I used to enjoy watching Doctor Who, Casualty, Royle Family, ABFAB and EastEnders. Now, what's the point?
cathylitwin 10/30/2003
BBCA- one of these days soon you will realize how many viewers you have lost 'cause of Eastenders' cancellation - and then it may be too late!
zizmans 10/30/2003
Bring back EE!!!! ENOUGH REPEATS!!!!! Otherwise i would have given it 5 stars
cwhyel 10/30/2003
Congratulations on being at the bottom of the heap BBC America! The visionaries at this once classy entity have taken bulemic measures to ensure that its viewers will comply to their vision of making cheesy Do It Yourself Shows a digital cable deity by running hundreds of installments of such shows each week. They blame such great dramas as EastEnders for taking away viewers. They once had the highest quality lineup of television programs from the U.K. but ruined it with the twisted vision of some pompous yuppie thugs. Way to go, pinheads!
shadow205 10/30/2003
This channel is an embarrassment to the high reputation that the BBC holds worldwide for quality programs. It has been going steadily downhill and has now hit rock bottom by cancelling the only original and new program they were showing - EASTENDERS. BBC America is now a DIY channel. If that isn't bad enough, all the programs are constant re-runs. Even "The Office" which they constantly promote has only 2 series with 6 episodes in each series. They have already repeated the first series over and over and are now about to do the same with the second series. This channel is a waste of money and time without EASTENDERS.
