If he would just call the game he would be tolerable, but nothing more. He has got to be the worst ever. Just goes to show you how much emmys are worth. I am writing this for 2 other people as well. I have to watch games with the mute button on.
cardsfan 08/13/2005
the best in the business. we are so lucky here in st. louis to be able to call him our own.Great just like his great dad, Jack Buck. Go Cards!!!!!!!!!!!
yankeefanfromj ersey2 07/18/2005
Buck is so worthless that I dread the Baseball playoffs. Did you hear him in the all-star game? After some touching and important memorial and comemmerative events, he said, we're actually gonna talk about Baseball, when we come back. He's a slide, sniveling worm who has feminized the professional broadcast of sports with his-sissy-ass glib tripe. Any one who likes or respects him is a dangerous idiot.

Joe Buck is an arrogant egotistical F***, who is riding the coattail of his father

Joe Buck is the best TV play-by-play man today. I can't see why everyone on this board believes otherwise. 5 emmys, including 4 straight! He incorporates knowledge with humor in a concise style that his medium requires. Plus, he has an intelligible, unmistakable voice. Joe enunciates better than anybody because his father taught him the value of diction as he grew up doing cards games into a tape recorder in an empty booth. Sure, Jack is a legend, but does that mean Joe is the top person in his field because of him? Not entirely. Joe learned from the best, and he is well on his way to joining an elite group that includes his dad. I cannot miss one game that Joe Buck does because for me, a fresh high school graduate,soon-to-be freshman in college and aspiring broadcaster, it is like going to class. My father is a sportscaster, and I am fortunate to have the opportunities I receive during football season - spotting for Westwood One's coverage of the NFL and NCAA Football, co-hosting a program every Sunday morning with my dad, and hosting a scoreboard update segment for a high school broadcast. Like Joe Buck, I want to prove that I can be successful on my own while honoring and cherishing my past. And if I can be half as good as Joe, I'll be doing alright.

Drop the Randy Moss incident (who really cares, Moss was only playing charades...he didn't really do anything...he looked like a jackass, but he doesn't care...we shouldn't either...the kids watching have seen a lot worse by all the networks during primetime...give me a break.) Anyway, back to Buck. Drop the Randy Moss incident AND HE STILL SUCKS. This guy is such a corporate kiss-ass. I can't stand listening to him. I can only take so much of the cheesy cliche crap that I get from Joe. Give me Dennis Miller or Rush Limbaugh announcing any day over Joe Buck. The only time Joe Buck gets the call from me is when it comes to the sideline reporters (coincidentally, they are all female...but don't worry, that is just a major coincidence...they earned it! The only one who really knows what is going on is Suzy Kolber...the rest are given scripts 2 years ahead of time and still can't pull it off...particularly that Tafoya on MNF...horrendous).
ellis 04/01/2005
Joe does everything for FOX today, and FOX does everything today. That's the problem. Give MLB back to NBC or some other network, stop covering the NFL, and just stick to NASCAR, FOX.
kceliz 02/20/2005
Beyond terrible. He's horrifying. Hey stl_blk_swnga, you're right, he's the worst. So why did you give him a 5?
stl_blk_swnga 02/07/2005
Was it just me and the bunch of guys I was watching SB XXXIX with who noticed that none of commentators (Fbuck, Collinsworthless, and Aikman) said one word until the extra point after the Eagles scored there second touchdown. I mean these guys reacted to this with total disdain for the Eagles. To me this was one of the worst crews to ever call a SB. Fbuck has got to be the worst announcers out there ....I'm from St Louis and the guy sucks!!!! Collinsworth is just a washed up A-hole.
mama2owen 02/07/2005
I'm so tired of play-by-play men like Buck (and his partner in prudish crime, Cris Collinsworth) shoving their opinions down our throats. Just call the game, for pete's sake! We, the viewers, are perfectly capable of picking our own heroes, we don't need you and your horn-rimmed glasses to do it for us. T.O. was right; had he been Brett Farvre, people like Buck would have been falling all over themselves to kiss his butt and label him a hero. But because he's T.O., he's considered selfish and his courageous performance yesterday barely gets a mention on Fox. It's a ridiculous double-standard. Gag. You know things are bad when TROY AIKMAN is the voice of reason. Please, someone, fire Joe Buck. Enough is enough.
RubberBandMan 02/06/2005
Not the color man, but feels free to add editorial commentary anyway. Loves to jump all over the losing team -- constantly. Seems to lack a mastery of any sport. He's equally inept on all coverage.
spartans 02/04/2005
See what happens when crack addicts are allowed to vote? fsrfan142 actually thinks Buck is good. Seek help, moron. Joe is a joke. If his father hadn't been a legend, Joe would be working overnights at an all sports station in some dump like Tulsa.
sportsgeek 01/28/2005
Joe, if you have any decency at all, please, PLEASE step in front of a moving bus.
Undisputed 01/23/2005
I can honestly say I can't stand listening to this guy call a football game.
Ghost123 01/21/2005
Ramma lamma...shove it up your a$$. Your father is turning over in his grave. You should have been the one buried.
jdubya04@hotma il.com 01/16/2005
Joe Buck is the worst announcer there is today. He couldn't announce a game if his life depended on it. Cliche after cliche, he just announces what he sees. He gives no insight whatsoever. I hate his cheesy broadcasting. The only reason he is broadcasting is because of daddy. Joe Buck, you suck!
cheeseaz 01/13/2005
Joe Buck is a better baeball announcer than football announcer, but he still far exceeds 95% of the other television football announcers. I agree with his comments about Randy Moss and his totally classless act in last week's wild-card game against Green Bay. What I don't understand is why no one commented on Red McCombs wearing his wife's mink coat.
firejoebuck 01/12/2005
just looking for something to complain about Randy Moss
Daddy Got Me my Job 01/11/2005
Joe Buck would be lucky to be broadcasting University of Wisconsin Miluwakee women's hockey games if his last name wasn't Buck. He, like all Fox broadcasters are about as far from impartial as you can get. If I were Randy Moss, I'd stash a cardboard cut out of Buck in the end-zone next game and drop a deuce on it after he scores. The guy is a complete joke
jc24comp 01/11/2005
I believe he ia a racist. He just could not wait to jump all over Randy Moss. I really have seen a trend in the way he describes white athletes vs. black athletes
Jackie Treehorn 01/11/2005
DenverJuusan hit it right on the head: Buck is not only lame and often incorrect in his play-by-play (after Green Bay's D made three straight stands following the Favre interceptions, he declared they need to do something here) he is a flaming hypocrite. The Leon commercials and the fact that he works for Fox take away any ethical credibility me may have. Further, he has demonstrated a pattern of bigoted thinking - quick to excoriate and black or latino player for demonstrative behavior (Moss, Manny Ramirez, Bonds) but giving free passes to the Mark McGwires and Brett Favres of the world. Does anyone like this guy? Why must we have the World Series and the NFC playoffs ruined every year?
squa89 01/11/2005
Absolutely awful. Worst announcer I have ever heard. His stupid and overblown comments are what made this Randy Moss situation an issue. Terribly biased in virually all games he announces. Have you ever ONCE heard him say something positive about the yankees? Instead he'll just constant take jabs at them in his bitter passive agressive way. What a disgrace.
JoeBuck_hater 01/11/2005
He is the worst announcer ever. His take on the Moss issue accounts for all the media members on fox and espn treating as if it was the most immoral act ever seen on television. He should be the one apologizing to use for Fox's terribly immoral shows such as Who's Your Daddy? and Temptation Island. In addition, he sounds like a broken record throughout the entire telecast repeating the same things over and over. Hey dumbass. I got it the first three times you mentioned it the Viking linebackers suck. Hey has anyone heard that Brett Favre's wife has breast cancer and his dad passed away last year. Joe Buck must not think so and has to keep repeating it throughout the intire broadcast. I understand Brett Favre is one of the greastest to ever put a jersey on and it is terrible what he's going through but you don't have to repeat all the time. To make matters worse this is the best announcing crew that Fox has to offer us, thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cfhgfh 01/10/2005
He started this entire Moss moon issue. I realize it's good for sports to have a bad guy like Moss, but he wasn't being fair.
chuck6482 01/10/2005
I'm sure Buck was mad because he had a large sum of money on the packers! But seriously what he said after the Moss Moon was terriable, notice how no other announcers said anything until the stupid postgame show. Stick to something your good at kissing up to the Yankees and announcing their games!
NotTellingEith er 01/10/2005
Joe Buck overstated (like many media talking heads) the Moss incident. Dontcaretosay is absolutely correct on his assessment. If Brett Favre had done the same thing he would be seen as having fun playing football. Joe Buck sucks
Dontcaretosay 01/10/2005
Buck could have glossed over the Moss gesture (the treatment it deserved) but he chose to make it the highlight of the play. His indignation appears to be based on the idea that football, NFL football, has some higher calling. To be classy and an example to others, especially the young folks. I thought we got over that years ago. The classy guys in this game are rare and exceptional men. That's why Reggie White was so revered in the NFL. Most of the players have seen enough Chris Farley and Will Farrell movies to know what Moss did was hilarious. Joe Buck should get ready to defend himself against the charges of racism.
JonnyBoy 01/10/2005
Should be forced to listen to every single one of his horrible broadcasts over and over until he finally realizes what an overrated hack he is!!
jgrammentz 01/10/2005
Embarassed himself commenting on the Vikings football game Sunday Jan 10, 2005. Fox should fire him.
nbraun 12/13/2004
Joe buck is a terrible play announcer for football games. He makes mistakes in calling what happens on the field, and hardly ever catches what he says and corrects it. He also makes fun of players on the field under the guise of trying to be funny. In the Packers/Eagles blowout, several times he made derisive comments about Nick Barnett playing with emotion even though the game was already lost. He also made unnecessary comments about Terrell Owens antics. I wish I never had to listen to him announce a game again.
riffraff 12/07/2004
Liked him better a few years ago when he was more humble. Seems more full of himself now. Much better doing baseball than football.
ec2003 12/06/2004
Joe Buck AND Chris Collinsworth should stop calling football games. Buck has a great on-air voice, and exudes confidence in his speech, but both he and Collinsworth are unable to commentate objectively. Watching the Eagles-Giants game, I couldn't believe how far they went to bash Terrell Owens, even if it meant making stuff up. I know they're just looking for a story, but Eagles-Giants doens't need any more subplots. Besides, he had the whole game to fawn over Eli Manning and his stellar six completion performance. Why waste time trying to make a story out of T.O.?
jpern24 11/29/2004
Announcing comes so natural to him. You do not do the Super Bowl and World Series in the same year and be the best in the business. Dont say he sucks just because mccarver sucks. He the best. plus when Josh Lewin is the #2 guy, anyone would be #1. He's the #1 at any network
Ricky24 11/28/2004
Joe Buck is the worst football and baseball announcer in the history of sports. I cannot listen to him for another second so I am putting on the radio and muting the sound on the GIANT GAME AGAINST THE EAGLES. Please fire that no talent no knowledge of sports announcer. He is an IDIOT!!!!
martinema 11/13/2004
I hate him so much I could not even watch the Redskin and Giants game because he was the announcer he sucks at football but he is even worse at baceball. I can not see why fox sports could even keep him. The preson that should take is place is Dick Stocken or James Brown.
Iward 10/26/2004
Joe buck needs to give up his career as a baseball broadcaster and join the circus. No, that would give the circus a bad name. He should move back in with his parents. I'm sure his mom misses him. Tim Macaver and him could dress up for halloween as a donkey and a cowboy, each taking turns on who wants to ride one another. And Fox: the worst sports broadcasting station there ever was. Subliminal messages of the flag. There logos that susupiciously resemble the Bud Light lable. All these factors add up to the unfortunate direction sports had gone. Capitialism has turned what was once pure into a mochary of advertisiments. Please shut Joe buck and Macarver up; they are a couple of douce bags!
redsfan 10/26/2004
Joe Buck is absolutely horrible. His calling of the Philadelphia-Tampa Bay game in the 2002 NFC championship game was atrocious. He made Ronde Barber's interception return to seal the game sound like a three-yard run up the middle in the second quarter. What a vag. Vin Scully is still the best. I watch Dodgers games because of him, and I hate the Dodgers!
ALS0987 10/22/2004
About Idiot No-Talent-AssClown Boy and his Monkey Really-too-old-shouldn't-color-his-har-like-he's-30 Side-Kick, two words: They Suck. Seven more words: Petition to get them off the air!
Proud Yank 10/22/2004
Joe's lackluster performance is part poor baseball knowlege and part FoxSports all sizzle and no meat. You can't blame Buck for appalling camera direction, overweight emphasiis on the fans rather than the field and its dopey and insipid music videos and themed music lead-ins and lead-outs. Joe, you're no Jack Buck, though I am sincerely saddened by your father's passing and wish your family and you every comfort.
JRF29201 10/21/2004
Needs more real life attitude in the broadcast. Just reporting what's happening isn't good enough. Must have a distinct personality to be legendary in this business and Joe so far is lacking of that unlike his father. Jack Buck was the greatest announcer that ever lived and his son has many years to find his niche. God Bless JFB.
Eatcrap 10/21/2004
Yes , Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are crapola. However, they are not Yankee fans. They are total opposites. They are the most bias Yankee hater sever. I turned of the volume this year. What an A HOLE
wstempert 10/19/2004
Hey Jughead Joe Buck, you should get a job at the New York Times. You're as objective a sports announcer as they are at reporting the news.
hstempert 10/19/2004
Joe Buck is one of the worst, one sided broadcasters I have ever heard announce a game. It seems he has a very diffacult time announcing a game without letting his personal preference show through. It's sad when someone who is supposed to be a professional can't at least even fake being professional!
barrisy 10/16/2004
He's a f'n a-hole, just like his retarded side-kick Dim McCarver. Fox sux for using these two Yankee fans for announcers.
bubbabubba234 10/14/2004
Joe Buck is the worst announcer in all of sports. Yankee fan who just can't resist smashing any team that they play. The guy is an absolute embarrassment to the profession and to his father. Buck paired with McCarver is as bad as it gets.
Rustbucket 10/08/2004
Being a native of Pittsburgh, I couldn't figure who Joe was referring to when he was talking about the Angel's Dick Scofield. I guess he forgot about his dad's heroics in the '60 World Series season when he was with the Pirates.
OaklandMLB 10/08/2004
Jose Buck is living off the glory of his father. He and McCarver make up the worst announcing team in the history of baseball. When FOX got the rights to show the AL/NLCS and the WS few years ago, it was a dark day for MLB. The new Budweiser commericals he has done are an obvious attempt to TRY and be funny and cool. Long gone are the days of Ernie Harwell, Mel Allen, Red Barber, Jack Buck and Vin Scully. I know Scully still calls games, but you get my point. There are no GREAT announcers anymore. ESPN has some good play by play guys in Miller, O'Brien, Morgan (although he can be preechy) and some good color guys like Brantley and Scutclife. FOX has tried to become hip and cool in presenting baseball to the kids of today. Sadly, it seems as if it is working. I do not need Kevin Kennedy and that stupid chick Jeannie Zlasko (or whatever it is) trying to hype up a game. Anyway, Buck=horrible.
marvisfoleyrul es 10/06/2004
buck and mccarver, and fox in general are ridiculously pro yankees...if the yankees are playing the twins, about 85% of what they talk about is yankee tradition, how wonderful the yankees are and all that...when everyone knows the yankees have turned mlb into a monopoly and nearly ruined the game too..which is what fox wants for the ratings..
