Frankly, I can only see those voters who are already strongly inclined to vote Democrat to have any need for political retribution against conservatives. As I've stated regarding some other causes on this list, while this may have increased turnout by the Democrats, I just don't see "payback" as a reason for any material swing in the center.

"Payback"? The rest of the world calls it intelligence. . .

 | Randyman (116) 12/15/2006 | I would think that the most obvious reason is payback for Bill Clinton. Democrats right or wrong, and real or imagined, still believe that Bill Clinton was a victim of a “vast right wing” conspiracy. Let’s face it, the man was hounded throughout his presidency and impeached. The man has not been president for what? Six years? Yet, he’s still fodder for the talk show circuit. Add to that the fact Republicans have never been graceful winners, not in 1994, or anytime since. Bush is still regarded as having stole the election from Gore. Now much of the blame for terrorism is being blamed on Clinton. Revenge, or payback is a strong motivator, and I think it had some part in this years election.
