03/17/2007 | People have been scamming people long before you could do it online. I don't know what's sadder: that people pretend that they're royalty from Nigeria and somehow expect people to give them their bank account information, or that there ARE people out there who are stupid enough to give these people that information.

03/17/2007 | I've got one of those surnames that is so quintessentially Irish that almost no one ever mistakes it for something else. Until recently, I had no idea I was related to a baron in Ireland who died without heirs leaving me 30 million, but someone in Nigeria was kind enough to inform me in beautiful Restoration era prose...Of course, the Brits took whatever barons there were there out of the picture hundreds of years ago, and I don't think there ever was any Arch- Baron D'Alessandro Wolfgang Boethius _ ( my last name would go in this space) in Ireland, but it's the sentiment that counts...
