What is the purpose of home work? Making students suffer? Annoy them? Take away time from other entertaining stuff they could rather do. Well, it's all this, but the main point is, home work is a tool of learning self discipline and encouragement to research and learn things on your own. I always tell my kids that there is hardly any home work that could take more than an hour to complete, and one hour a day out of their "busy" schedule is not such a great sacrifice. And even if it is a sacrifice, it is for their own good.
