Up until about 1937, rigid airships, or dirigibles, were a primary mode of air transit. Many offered luxurious accomodations. Unfortunately, all of that ended with the fiery crash of the German airship Hindenburg on May 6th, 1937. Today, nonrigid airships, or blimps, are mainly used for advertising, but some people also use blimps as a mode of air transit.
