almost four an orphan boy runs away from the orphanage to find his parents. he is convinced the "right song" will bring them together. while on the streets he ends up living in an abandoned building with other children and a "Fagin" like man who sends the kids out to thieve and earn money for him.August finds out he can play instruments with ease even making him a child prodigy. he eventually ends up at Julliard. thanks to some kindly church people. a lot of this movie is unlikely of course.meanwhile August's mother finds out around this time that the baby she had eleven years ago and thought was dead{her dad lied to her} is alive so she is trying to find him. the ending is predictable they do find each other. I was disappointed that you only see them smiling at one another August, his,mom AND dad. and d not get to see them talking or hugging etc. they just leave the movie with them seeing each other. good in a lot of ways. if you are willing to go with it.

My wife and I saw this movie last night and really enjoyed it. I won't give anything away except to say it is about a little boy searching for his parents. He is a musical prodigy. Both his parents were musicians and they are completely unaware that he exists. It has a few sappy moments but if you can make it to the end without shedding at least one tear, you're made of sterner stuff than I am. Freddie Highmore is phenomenal as the young boy, August Rush. Go see the movie.
