I'm a guy from San Francisco, California/United States
About me: ** new pic: sitting in the sun in Austin ** I'm a tall, basketball playing, indie pop listening, book reading, tech obsessed, mild mannered guy from San Francisco. I try to be nice to everybody, and I get a kick out of smart people that can think for themselves.

I got 2/3 of the first episode of V (2009 version), and it was just good enough to make me want to watch another one.

To me it felt like a (slightly) dumbed down, mainstreamed Battlestar Galactica. It's a clash of cultures, with heavy political undertones. Is the queen lizard visitor an evil Barack Obama figure, offering universal healthcare to the masses in order to advance an insidious agenda? Who knows - no doubt politicos on both sides will read a lot into this show.

there are all sorts of wonderful directions this app could go.

This is an entertaining, and perhaps even useful, app used to estimate your blood alcohol level.

A friend showed it to me last night during happy hour - he had a 45 minute drive to look forward to and wanted to keep track of what he was drinking.

You tell the app your gender and weight, and then each time you have a drink you note it on your phone. There's a menu that let's you choose from different beer styles, cocktails, etc.

The app keeps track of elapsed time, and combines this info with the estimated alcohol intake + your physical profile to chart your blood alcohol level.

There's also an "intoxicated?" tab that provides helpful links to taxis and DUI attorneys.

The only thing missing is a leaderboard, and a "share this cocktail" to Facebook button.

and they take credit cards. Screw it, I'm bumping them up to four stars.

This is where I buy my Ito En teas. The owners are nice, the place overpriced, and I usually go in here because it's well lit and clean, and slightly less sketchy than the other Mission street convenience stores.

hell yeah - they lost me after this album, but everything up to Ghost is Born is fantastic.

This is my favorite JV album. Mellow and haunting, and really shows off his voice. My favorite tracks are White Plains and Up Above the Sea, but they're all pretty great.

I love these guys. After all these years they keep cranking out geeky, hooky pop rock. I've been looping Raditude for about 2 hours now, and it's sounding pretty good. Put me Back Together sounds like the standout track, but I have heard anything bad yet.
