She always stood behind her husband, through the good and the bad. She was a very active first lady, and took great pride in adding nearly 600 paintings and antiques to the White House collection. Pat used her position as First Lady to encourage volunteer service--the spirit of people helping people. She invited hundreds of families to Sunday services in the East Room. Overall, Pat was a good and courageous woman, and definately one of the more admirable first ladies of this past century.
